  1. Kreugs, thank you so much for all that info!! Great to hear from someone who so recently did DCF through Frankfurt.

Tomorrow it will be 2 weeks since I-130 was approved and still no packet 3/case number yet....... :clock: but I guess we are not in a huge rush anyways, just hope it didn't get lost or forgotten.

You mentioned bringing plural passports to the interview. Only the immigrant needs to go to the interview, the spouse doesn't, right?

    Thanks again. :)

Jennifer I think your interview is *next* Wednesday right? If it was this week, how did it go?? :goofy:

  2. Ahh interesting about being in the high-fraud country. But it sounds like you have done great so far and you are really prepared and so close! I imagine it's VERY normal to be nervous at this point but I bet it will go well! I'd love to hear how it went. Good luck again for the next 2 days!!! :goofy:

Also I've been working a lot on organizing the forms we need, started working on the I-864, etc. Thanks for the nudge!

  3. Hi Jennifer, thank you again for all your help! I'm in prep mode. :D

It might be different country to country... on Frankfurt's instructions page it says to mail them the supporting info. It's across the country so I think we won't have to go there until the interview.

Question about scheduling the interview: once you were approved to schedule the interview, did they choose the date or did you? Could you choose a date far into the future like another month, or did you have to choose one in the very near future? We don't actually want to go to the US until next Spring so I'm trying to sort out when to do what. :)

    Good Luck on Tuesday!!! :star::goofy:

    Cheers,
    Danielle

  4. We recently got our I-130 approved and are preparing to submit the D-260 and supporting documents.

We want to come to the US next Spring (March/April) at the earliest. I know that the visa will be good for 6 months from the medical exam, and the medical exam can be done soon before the interview.

My Q is: once the D-260 & supporting documentation is approved and we are able to schedule an interview, is it then possible to schedule the interview into the future, say in a few months? OR, do they make you schedule it in the near future and so if we wish to delay for a few months, it would better to hold off a bit on submitting the D-260?

    Thank you!

  5. Thanks again! We will be watching our email closely.....

Another Q: so all those things you need to provide along with your visa application, like police report, marriage & birth certificate, etc., did you mail those to the visa center and they had to receive it all before you get an interview? Or did you make an interview appointment after you submitted the visa application online? Confused about how all the paperwork fits into the process timewise.

    Many thanks again!

  6. Jennifer, congrats on getting your interview scheduled! :)

Thanks for sharing your experience. So it took 2 days for the consulate to send the approval info to the nvc, then the nvc emailed you/your hsuband (the "alien") with a case number so he could apply? don't they send you something in the mail, "packet 3" or something, with all the instructions?

Thank you again so much!! Drives me crazy not to know what happens. It's been a week now so I guess I won't wonder what's going on too much, for another week.

  7. Looking for advice from people with DCF experience:

Our NOA2 Approval letter from a week ago says:

USCIS forwarded the approved petition to the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany.... The Consular Section...will contact the beneficiary and provide instructions about applying for a visa.

Does this mean that the consulate will send us something in the mail? In an email? Are we supposed to call someone? We have been in a void for the past week, wondering what happens next.

    Thanks!!

  8. Penguin_ie, can you help by clarifying a DCF question? We got our I-130 approval from the Frankfurt office a week ago but we're confused about what to do now. They wrote:

USCIS forwarded the approved petition to the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Frankfurt, Germany.... The Consular Section...will contact the beneficiary and provide instructions about applying for a visa.

So now are we simply waiting for something in the mail (or email?) addressed to my husband, with the next steps? Should this come fairly soon? Thanks!!

  9. Thanks Nin&Way! :) I just want to make sure I was clear: we got our NOA2, approval of our I-130 marriage-based immigration petition. And yes, directly from the Frankfurt embassy because we are doing DCF.

That's why I'm confused – we are apparently waiting for some other letter to come in the mail with instructions to my husband so then he can apply. Maybe that other letter will contain our case number?

Good idea, we will start gathering the info we need for the interview and I will also start working on the I-864.

Thanks for the tip about the regional forum, didn't know about it yet!!

  10. We are excited – I (the American petitioner) just got our NOA2 from Frankfurt, Germany! But, we aren't sure what happens next. The letter says:

USCIS forwarded the approved petition to the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy or Consuulate in Frankfurt, Germany.... The Consular Section...will contact the beneficiary and provide instructions about applying for a visa.

So now are we simply waiting for something in the mail addressed to my husband, with the next steps? Should this come fairly soon?

    Thank you!! :dancing:

  11. One more question:

Re the "certification of translation" statement (by my husband) –

The USCIS suggests the right wording/format for this, and the wording refers to the "above/attached" document. I think this means (and I read someone else saying this but I wanted to confirm) that the statement doesn't have to be on a separate page but can be typed at the bottom of the translated copy?

    Thank you!!

    Danielle

  12. Hi, I can't seem to find anything here or on Google about this:

How the heck should we actually literally DO the translations of the documents? Should we make a copy of the forms/PDFs and insert new text near the foreign text? Or is it better to make a new document from scratch with the translation, even though it will not match the layout of the original?

    Thanks!

    Danielle
