Many (including myself) submitted documents in late November and still haven't heard anything.
You can share your progress (and frustrations) here

More of a news source than CNN, Buzzfeed & MSNBC...
It's not like there was a sudden huge influx of us citizens going out there and getting married that caused this massive backlog...
If the Independent Sentinel is more "of a news source than CNN" etc., then you are aware that it is a totally biased source, right? The Independent Sentinel refers to an article from the Washington Times, which refers to numbers from NumbersUSA and Center for Immigration Studies.. Two non-profits that advocate for "immigration reduction... that seeks to reduce US immigration levels to pre-1965" and "lower immigration numbers and produces research to further those views".
The Center for Immigration Studies also seeks to "provid[e] immigration policymakers, the academic community, news media, and concerned citizens with reliable information about the social, economic, environmental, security, and fiscal consequences of legal and illegal immigration into the United States" - So you totally picked the right source to advocate for your own case.

6. This supervisor confirmed that there is no way to know when documents are "transferred" to the review department. So if anyone is given a specific date, the person giving them that date is making it up. THe only way you can know is if you call every day, and one day it's not there but the next day it is. Then you can figure it out based on your calls but no one on the phone can look up and see "It was transferred on the 15th" or something. They just see where it is. I explained to her that some of her staff are not properly conveying that information. She apologised, but also argued that maybe they "misunderstood the question".
I've been told multiple times (+5 times) that my case was sent to the review department on January 12. The operator usually gives me a rundown of my case where they list when they received my documents, when my case was "upgraded" for supervisor review and when it was sent to the review department. I have never inquired about the dates and said something like "was my case sent to the review department January 12?".

Hi there,
I have a question regarding the I-864 and I-864A.We are using my wife's father as the only joint sponsor. He has not claimed her as his dependent on his tax forms but they live in the same house. Should my wife's father fill out an I-864 or I-864A form?Thanks in advance for your response! -
Yes the I-864A for her
You mean him? She is still the petitioner, right?

It depends on what other kinds of bona fida evidence you have?! If you have had a lot of visits, then just send a small selection of messages to show the ongoing daily conversations you have. I visited my husband a lot before moving over, so all we included with the I-130 were passport stamps and pictures of us together and with family.
I think the people who say you need to send a lot of IM, emails logs, call logs etc, it's for those that haven't really met that much in person. Face to face time is always gonna be your best evidence.
Thanks for your reply!
So far we have collected:
* Receipts for money transfers
* Various pictures since 2013
* Call log since February 2014
* Various receipts from gifts, stays at AirBNB's when we have traveled in Europe and the US.
* Copies of letters
* Flight tickets (excluding boarding passes - I never knew they would come in handy.)
Before we send the packet I will include:
* Affidavit from me and my (then) wife
* Third party affidavit
* Marriage certificate (obviously)
* Wedding photos
I guess "a lot of visits" is a little relative
.We met when I was an exchange student in Boston, 2013. Since 2014, I've visited her four times (two of my visits were 4-6 months stay thanks to study abroad and internship programs) and we have planned fifth trip planned in a couple of weeks where we are getting married.
She has visited me three times since 2014.
Do you think exhaustive chat logs/screenshots are necessary with all that information? It seems a little overwhelming for the person reviewing it.
Thanks!

Hello Scandis,
Me and my fiance are collecting documents for our I-130 Evidence of Bona Fide Marriage and I have read that we should transcripts from IM conversations.
How many pages is it necessary to provide; what is preferable screenshots or just text logs? (My phone and my browser keep crashing whenever I try to scroll back to whatsapp conversations from 2013 so it's difficult to take screenshots.)

Thanks for the quick reply Merrytooth. So to understand it correctly. I can do all paperwork until my embassy interview?
Best.
You can file the I-130 petition now.
The US consulate will need the approved J1 waiver before they can issue you the CR1 visa.

Hello everyone!
First of all, thanks for having this forum. It has been really helpful reading all of you guys great advice.
However, I haven't been able to find any recent threads on the following question/issue:
I am a Danish citizen marrying my fiance - a US citizen - in August, 2016. Following our wedding, we will begin apply for a CR-1 Visa.
Since I have been on a couple of J-1 Visas I am subject to the two year residency requirement, which I am now seeking a waiver for through a No Objection Letter from the Royal Danish Embassy in Washington D.C. It seems like it will take approximately 2-4 months to receive a final waiver from the USCIS.So my question is: is it possible to begin the I-130 petition and other paperwork prior to receiving my J-1 Waiver? I.e. Do I need the J-1 waiver anytime before my interview with the American Embassy in Stockholm?Very best,Jeppe
