a happy update from me.. finally got a text saying that interview was scheduled! its been a long and painful wait from May 15 when I got done with the fingerprints.

A few questions for group members..

How far out do they setup the interview usually,

and how long before the interview letter shows up in the myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov?

thanks to this forum for keeping my hope up, and good luck to others waiting for updates (mine was IOE* and in San Diego)

- My interview was scheduled for 5 weeks after I received the update. It took 3 business days to receive the letter in the mail.

- I don't know when the letter shows up on myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov, since I was a NBC*.

I94 does not always expire.

I'm uncertain as to what this means. If the OP left the US within the I-94 authorized period and re-entered, wouldn't the clock start afresh? How does one know whether the I-94 expired or not?

What does "We recently entered the United States on an existing I-94" mean?

Did you show it to the CBP officers when you entered the US via land crossing? Wouldn't the I-94 expire when you exited the US after prior to the land entry, but after the your flight into the US?

OPs love interest could have lost her citizenship if her spouse had his naturalization revoked.

"In cases where the spouse or child loses his or her citizenship, the spouse or child loses any right or privilege of ​U.S.​ citizenship which he or she has, may have, or may acquire through the parent or spouse’s naturalization. The spouse or child returns to the status that he or she had before becoming a ​U.S.​ citizen.​"

Where do people get the idea of tourist sponsors? It comes up all the time and I'm perplexed why....

I think some people read the DS160 question: "Person/Entity Paying for Your Trip:" and interpret that as sponsorship.

My oath was scheduled at 8:30 AM in New York City Federal Plaza and the whole process took under 2 hours. I applied for the passport (did not expedite) and was told that I should have it within 3 weeks.

Here's to hoping that everyone here becomes a citizen soon.

You were placed in line. If it helps, the gap between me being placed in-line for oath ceremony and the ceremony being scheduled was 1 day.

Can somebody please copy-paste (replacing the receipt number with xxxx, of course ) here what their online status reads when they got the notification for their oath ceremony with date, time and location of the event? Thanks. I am waiting for mine, so was just wondering about what it says

1. USCIS has address A in file
2. I stayed in address B temporarily (2 months) - new job relocation
3. I stayed in address C temporarily (1 week)
4. I moved to permanent address D

Below is an excerpt from online AR-11 instructions:

" You do not need to include temporary addresses as long as you maintain your present address as your permanent residence and continue to receive mail there.

When sending us a change of address, you do not need to include numerous last addresses; only the most recent last address is needed"

​Address A remained my permanent address where I received my mail and where my citizen wife and son stayed while I was at B and C temporarily. My guess is that I would only need to complete 1 AR-11 form, and I would put the address A as previous and address D as most recent (no need to include/report B and C).

​However, on the N-400, I will be disclosing address B and C, as on that form they specifically mention Physical Address.

Does this sound about right?

I'm from South Africa but my mom is Canadian, so have a Canadian passport.

Do I still need to get a visa or do anything from South African side?

Very concerned I will have issues when entering the US if I arrive with my Canadian passport.

Proof of ties to Canada would typically be a job, ownership of a house or an apartment, family or a bank account in Canada. If you do not think that you can prove strong ties to Canada, it may make sense to apply for a F1 visa from the local US Embassy or Consulate.

Final Update: (I Hope).

My mother in law and father in law reapplied/renewed the tourist visa. My SIL renewed on her own and was approved easily. In Bogota this is now not at the actual embassy, but at another processing center (for those that have already had a tourist visa). At the processing center, my mother in law was told that she had to come to the embassy for an interview a few weeks later. They took her fingerprints and also kept my fil's passport at the same time. A few days before my mil interview I emailed my representative again and they sent me a letter for her to take to the interview. It basically just said this is the mil of one of my constituents - please afford her all time and consideration in the interview and update us on the results. My MIL went to the interview and gave the letter to the woman. She said the woman was gone a while with the letter and seemed nicer when she came back. She asked her a few questions like if she had been in trouble etc. She also asked her why she wanted to go to the US. She answered to visit her son and grandchild that was going to be born. The woman asked her if she was going to be traveling any time soon and that she was going to keep the passports. The interviewer said that she should wait for notification from the embassy. The embassy responded to my representative saying that they had interviewed my MIL and were unable to come to a decision yet and would notify them when they did.

We have been checking the status of both my MIL and FIL's visa applications online and last week we noticed that my FIL's said denied, while my MIL still said Administrative Processing. Of course we freaked out and sent an email to the embassy since he never had an interview or anything. They never responded, but it was changed to Administrative Processing. Then today they received a notification from DHL and we check their VISA status and it says ISSUED. Which (I think) is good news!!

All 4 days before my due date. My husband and I are so relieved knowing that his parents will be able to travel to meet their grandchild. Even though we went through the spousal visa process; since I was living in Colombia at the time, this is the first time I have really felt the pain of your freedom being limited because of VISA issues. OP's sister in law, being young, unemployed, and unmarried, could potentially be viewed by an embassy CO as one of the above.

First of all, there is NO sponsorship for a visitor visa, EVER. No letter, no affidavit of support, nothing. I am not sure where or why people think this is the case. You sister in law must apply and be approved on her own merits, and her merits alone. there is nothing you can say or do to change that fact. The chances of her getting a visitor visa with literally no ties to home are zero. Also, the way USCIS looks at it, her having relatives that live in the US work against her as she would be more inclined to stay in the US and not leave as opposed to going home where she has no ties. Oh, and to top it off India is a very high fraud country, that alone is enough to get her denied. There is nothing stopping her from applying,but don't be surprised when the answer is no.

Oh if this is the case , this means i will need to wait for a month or more to renew my passport here in USA, before i travel anywhere

where did you find 6 months validity is an airline requirement? do you have any link or website to go to PLEASE?

i normally check my docs expiration date but i thought i can use my passport anytime as long as its unexpired, this is the first passport expiration i have outside my home country

The requirement to have one's passport to be valid for at least 6 months upon entry is imposed by the destination country and not the airline. As a green card holder, the requirement does not apply to you.

Regardless, Armenia is on the list of countries whose citizens do not need a passport to be valid for at least 6 months upon entry.

It does appear that B1/B2 visa is probably the safest route at this point. Your sister should be able to explain the mistake she made to the consular officer.

You could also try filling out a complaint on CBP web site. Choose the last option:
