  1. Assuming you have proper documentation to enter Mexico, you should have no problem. People make a day trip to Mexico all the time, for example.

But -- why are you stressing about this right now? You have seven months in the US before this would become an issue. A CBP officer at the border crossing might jsut look at your current I-94 and re-admit you on that same one, since there is so much time left on it. You need to be super aware of the date on any new I-94, to make sure it actually has extended your time. The closer you do this to the time your current I-94 is due to expire the easier it will be, most likely.

I really appreciate your reply. I am just so concerned as i have never crossed border of mexico before and I fear that the cbp officer will not let me back in when i i have an on going job, lease of contract residence, a car, etc. i just wanted to know if a lot of peopple do this wherin they cross specifically just to renew i94 and not go on a vacation to mexico.

Also before i wanted to do it asap because i dont want it hanging in my head that i have to do this in 6 months or before my admitted stay expires.. its been in my head since i got here that i have to cross border of mexico and go back to US.

  2. Hello,

I went to my local SSA office today (Gainesville, FL) to follow up on my application for my SSN. They processed the application on July 15 and said they were still waiting for verification from DHS. I checked SAVE when I got home and it says that DHS has returned the case to the agency. The problem is that it was returned to the WRONG SSA office. It was returned to Maryland SSA office. Has anyone run into this problem before? I'm not sure who to contact to correct. My local SSA office, Maryland SSA office, DHS?

    Thanks in advance.

I also applied for SSN but they need to verify. Question is what is SAVE and how do I do this?

  3. Hello,

First of all, thank you in advance for answering this question. I came to the US July 20th, 2016.

My Visa expiration is May 2019

The CBP Officer gave me an I-94 admitted stay until February 8, 2017

Because my passport expiration is February 9, 2017.

Has anyone encountered this before? I have called the Port of Entry and they said two ways: File a form of extension to USCIS or Travel

I would like to do the second option. Go out of Mexico Border and present my NEW PASSPORT and my OLD PASSPORT that contains my O1 VISA which will expire in 2019.

Also bring my I-797, Employers Contract, Pay Stubs Etc.

Please let me know if you have done this before just because the Port of Entry officer gave you admitted stay only until the expiration of your passport.

Please help me, I have never done this before. And crossing borders and stuff, and returning right away I have never done before. This is very NEW to me and I am shocked that I have to do this. Is this Normal and allowable?

    Thank you very much

  4. Hi,

I am on EB3 category, and my interview date is in the end of June, My nationality is Taiwan, so NVC gives my interview location in Taiwan. My question is I am currently living and working in Canada. Can I ask NVC to change my interview location from Taiwan to Canada? Is it possible? If yes, what should I do ?

HELLO I AM AN O 1 visa holder. My petition was approved and my home country us consulate was informed but i am a resident in China and also work in China. I have I 797 . Scheduled an interview in China and just showed the i 797 to the Interviewer I did not inform my home country us consulate that i am going to interview in china. My lawyer say just go to interview and bring i 797 . everything was fine because i think they use the PIMS / computer system to see you approved petition. Please its just my experience your visa might be different with my visa.

  5. You'll need to contact the embassy in your home country to request a transfer of the case to the embassy in your country of residence.

What consulate was put on your paperwork?

    Please complete your timeline.

Thanks to you all. My lawyer said i can interview anywhere especially its okay if yoy are in a foreign resident country but as long as it is not in the US u can interview there. i recently got approved in china which is my resident country not my home country . God is great all the time .

  6. Sure, and congrats on your O-1 approval! So basically it was kinda straightforward at the embassy, and he asked the questions I thought he would. It was something like that:

VO: Hi how's it going? First time in the US?

Me: Hi good morning Sir, not the first time

VO: (looked at his screen) oh, it's an O-1 visa, what is that you do? And can I see your I797?

Me: Sure (gave him the approval notice). I'm a musician. I'm a guitar player and singer

VO: ok, how long are you gonna be in the US?

    Me: 3 years

VO: and after those 3 years are you gonna be back to your home country?

    Me: Yes Sir

VO: what kind of music do you play and where are you going to play in the US

    Me: told him

VO: how long do you play the guitar?

    Me: told him

VO: (typed some things). OK you are all set, you'll get the passport back in a few days.

Me: thank you have a great week!

    VO: you too! No problem!

That's more or less how it went. The VO was super friendly and smiled all the time. Best experience ever. Good luck with your interview! I believe hat if you don't have criminal record in your country or any previous convictions, you should be good!

    hello justin,

First of all id like to thank you for all your help about the questions they ask at the consulate I was really prepared and was approved of the visa!!

I have question which is my last question sorry for bothering you. I am currently resigning from my job and it will take 3 months for me to enter the US. After being approved of the visa is it okay for me to enter in September even though my visa is already running since May ?? Did you enter the US right away when your visa got approved?

Id just like to ask you because you might have experienced the same thing.

    Thank you very much

  7. Hello

On my I 797 It was indicated that my home country was informed about my approved petition. But I currently am a resident/live in a different country. Can I apply here in my resident country and not my home country even though the Consulate that was written on I 797 was my home country. I am not there right now. I thought about going there for interview but thats not even where I live at the moment

    hello justin,

thank you very much you are so helpful. And no dont have any criminal record or any offense etc!

    again thank you

  12. It can be simple but it's still sitting in a pile of RFE's to be processed. So I'd still wait until you are past the 15 business days. Don't forget this is a long weekend coming up which may delay things as well.

Thank you you were right. my case was approved on the 15th day. God is the best

  13. Additional Update:

I just had my O-1 interview at the local US embassy and my visa was approved (: I'll get the passport with the O-1 visa in about 2 days I'm so excited!

    Next stop - New York!

Thanks for all the info and help guys, you are the best :D

Hello May I ask for your help? What questions they asked you during the Interview? Im also approved

  14. HELLO THERE,

I filed my case in CALIFORNIA uscis on may 11th

Received an RFE on May 18th and responded right away on the same date.

the RFE was just asking if I am outside of the US or not because my lawyer made an error he thought i was still in the US but I am not - since April 13th. After my audition I went back to my resident country to file my case and have my interview here if approved. After responding on May 18th , its already May 24th today and still no response.

Has anyone experienced this simple RFE?

FYI - My case is under premium processing

Now I know the clock starts from zero out of 15 days on May 18th after responding to the RFE, but why does it take this long for such a simple RFE?
