I did some research online and came to a conclusion that you can still work even if your GC is expired. Although your physical Green Card may expire, your lawful status as a U.S. permanent resident does not. Also, i read some where that once you have a green card you hold legal status in the U.S. until you abandon or lose it. Since, we already filed for I-751 and it has not been declined, we didn't loose legal status so we can still work in U.S.

Your NoA 1 has 18 months extension you can work on US legally

Does anybody on here who received their I 797 18 mos extension plan on traveling soon or have traveled already.  If so, is the I 797 plus expured greencard sufficient to travel out of the country. Thanksin advance.

You need to apply for I131  travel documents if you are going out of country.

I am at my nvc stage my wife sent AOS and tax payment document to NVC March nvc later sent us mail to send some missing document till date we have not gotten an appointment letter the last time my wife called nvc they told her to tell me to gather my civil document how long more do we have to wait to get appointment letter our process will get to 14months this July

That’s long process. 4 weeks from you send documents check if your NVC status turned to N/A  call them  everyday. What embassy is interview sometimes they may not have dates available.

  3. Me so far I have delt with USCIS 5/ NVC plus times in last 10 years.

First t for our N400 for family of 5 I filled it out all and did on my own.

    Then an my own wife’s CR-1 / K3  ( i130 and i129F )

Then few other friends and local town peoples veriois stuff few N400 Few i130 1 i751

Thanks for your responses folks !!  I get that if the SS# does not arrive , the final resort is to go to the SS office and apply in person. The Social Security department has a document process for immigrant visa holders that says that one needs to wait for 3 weeks at least. I am just going to wait ti out for one more week and see. In mu case I have an SSN and am working but wife needs one ( was indicated in the DS260) .

    https://www.ssa.gov/ssnvisa/whatyou_need.htm

Also wonder why the USCIS does not print out the green cards in the airports and give them to the people. Why the "handover" between DHS and USCIS again and the wait time there after. I tried calling the USCIS and they just rote whats written " Wait for 120 days , we have everything that we need from the payment perspective". So frustrating.

Also has anyone tried to create an account at https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/ ? You can identify yourself and see the status of the mailing address. All payment receipts and case statuses also can be seen . It also shows the last updated date .

    Thanks,

    AG

SS# won't come till you go there at office you don't have to wait 3 weeks.

We went next day after my wife came and they took care of it. All you need to take there is Passport  and other document.

Havent sign up for USCIS account but I just waited 2 months and her GC was here.

For securaty reason they probably won't print anything there ?

  5. I know once my fiancé schedules his interview in Kiev, he needs to print the confirmation page and take it with him to the interview. However, My fiancé doesn't have a printer. Could I schedule the interview and print the appointment confirmation letter myself, then just scan it to him so he can go somewhere with a printer to print it out?

    Yep that works as well.

As long as he has copy printed on paper he should be fine

  6. Hardship wavers has less chances of getting through USCIS unless you have good case and such real hardship that you can prove

Google for best lawyers ask them if they ever did file such thing and what are success rates for their case they worked on.

Most lawyers do immigration but hardly any wavers 601 or 601A stuff. You need reputable lawyer I am also helping someone with same waver at point it's hard to chose good lawyer
