My PD is 24march 2016 and I'm still waiting for the welcome letter, why does it take so long?

yes you have to call NVC and follow their instructions. you will get your WC letter soon. as in visa bulletin 2nd table is already showing month April 2016 and your PD is March so according to that table you should be able to submit your further forms online. you just have to call NVC again n again.

    Dear all,

When I started this thread on June 1st 2016, I never thought it would take my family a year to receive an approval.  Yet, on June 1st, 2017 I made the call to NVC and received the case number, IID and submitted both of my husband's and my email.

I promised to update you all how it went and leave a trail for someone else to benefit from since a few awkward twists and turns took place on this journey and without your help it would have probably took longer

    Here it goes

    • Case submitted and transferred to Nebraska. Then 5.5 months later transferred to TX and within 2 months transferred again to NY USCIS office
    • January 2017 was when I started taking action because transferring an application to my state of residence didn't make sense especially since that office DID not process I-130 forms.
    • I contacted my Senator who inquired on my behalf and started an official inquiry through USCIS
    • 60 days after I received a letter stating that my application required further investigation
    • I kept calling USCIS asking to speak with 2nd tier officers to understand the purpose of the transfer at which point I was once told that I, the petitioner (USC), will PROBABLY, be called for an interview (no idea why)
    • Subsequently, I scheduled an appointment with the USCIS office here in NYC that had our application, that alone took weeks to find an open slot, but I finally was able to score one.
    • I visited to inquire of the delay and the purpose of the transfer, and an office there told me again, that I will be interviewed and to wait for the interview date assigned
    • The same day, I think, I received a correspondence from the Senator's office that the USCIS said I have to be interviewed and to wait
    • That's when I formally submitted a second formal inquiry with the USCIS and complained with the Ombudsman Office
    • The latter takes 45 business days to resolve issues.
    • 40 days after my complaint with the Ombudsman Office I receive an email from them and from the Senator's office that my application for my husband has been approved (350 something days after I applied)
    • No interview, no change or update on USCIS office UNTIL now
    • But, I received the NOA2 a week after and have now been in touch with the NVC

My advice for everyone reading this for the future. If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, looks like a duck, IT IS a duck. I am convinced that the USCIS messed up with my application and a mistake was made somewhere along the process.

Get your Senator involved and if you're outside the processing times for your initial center, contact the Ombudsman office. Do not wait! I waited ... but it's all good

Keep on top of all your communications and track them with a task manager so you don't miss when the 60 day or 45 day wait period expires to call back if the issue wasn't resolved

I wish everyone who hasn't yet heard any good news the best of luck. Be persistent and have faith. It is hard I know, believe me.

If I can help anyone with any information or further explanations please do not hesitate to write me here. Without the help of some of the great members here, I would have probably been still lost .

Thank you from the bottom of my heart

Thanks alot for the information..! It was really help in your post. But i am confused how to coordinate ombudsman office? My PD is 17 june 2016 not approved yet..! We have called USCIS last reply from officer that we should wait for 7 more working days we ll email you within 7days

@bonbon786....We read online that if the approval takes more than 6 months..we need to call USCIS and enquire about it. He called in Feb 2017 (8 months from PD) as we had no information at all. And that call got escalated up to an officer. Then they sent us an email & a letter saying he has to attend the interview on May 9th,2017. He attended the interview...submitted all the documents..answered all their questions...then he was asked which city would be appropriate for the interview & was told that I-130 is approved. We later received an email & letter saying the I-130s got approved...and that ithey are being forwarded to NVC...that we should wait 30 days before contacting NVC. So now it has been 25 days & we have no new information...as to whether it has been received by NVC or not.

This forum, FB group & WhatsApp group seem to be the only comforting thing now as there are many others waiting to be reunited with their spouses/family. Some say 2016 filers could be looking at 2.5 years before getting an interview..that's quite frustrating :-(

Thanks for sharing this information, you don't worry according to my knowledge and surveys and information F2-A category takes 18months to 24months most of the people (40% applicants) got their visas in their hand in 20months and (40%) got visa in 22months, (10%) are very lucky got visa in 18months and (9.99%) people got their visa in 24months and (0.01%) who under special circumstances got visa in 30months(2.5y) so just keep your fingers cross 🙂 Your case is on right track and smooth process..!

Other thing is that we just need prayers..!

@bonbon786...I'm really sorry for the late reply..They didn't give any explanation for the late approval...but I'm guessing it was because this is a 2nd marriage for the both of us..the questions that were asked to my husband were more about why I quit my 1st marriage...which I thought were a bit too personal to ask...but my husband told them anyways & provided them with the necessary documents as proof.

From what I understood, for F2A category...PD has to be current on the 2nd chart first...which btw is on 8 April 2016 for a second time...(my PD is 9 June 2016)...and then after that...I get to send in the other documents to NVC...The interview will be scheduled when PD becomes current on the 1st chart on VB..which is now at 15 Aug 2015...so I have to wait roughly 10 months for the interview (considering the 2nd chart moves every month by 1 month)...If my husband becomes a citizen, does that exclude me from waiting for PD to be current as per the 1st chart on VB? And if he applies for citizenship now, how long does the entire process take?

@remyfk thanks for reply, if your husband becomes citizen you can transfer your case to CR-1/IR-1 category which is very fast process to bring your spouse to US, and i have no idea how long citizenship will take. But you are right almost 10months more wait for interview.

How your husband got an appointment for interview? Did he applied for  infoPASS the online appointment system? After the interview how many days further they took for approval?

Best wishes for everyone and stay blessed.

@piff @Anna...hi there. I figured out a couple of things from my husband's interview. My actual PD is June 9th, 2016 & not 14th like we thought before. And our i-130s got approved on May 9,2017 after the interview. That's 11 months for i-130 approval alone. The officer said he will forward the application & we asked for Abu Dhabi. Are we going to get delayed further? Because some had their i-130s approved in 4-5months as opposed to 11 months. What happens next? And would there be any negative consequences on our i-130s if he applies for his citizenship? Or is that delayed too?

    1) When you called USCIS to check reason for delay, what they replied?  I mean why your case took 11months for approval?

    2) what type of interview you are talking about?

    3) there is no dely my priority date is 17june2016 and in visa bulletin table A) final action date is 15August 2015, and table B) to submit further documents is 8April2016, so after one or two months you ll get welcome letter and would be able to proceed further with NVC..! So nothing is wronge with your petition..!

I see on f2a timelines that there is somebody with PD 9/23/2016 got their i-130 approved on 3/17/2017.

Yeah they are approving that i-130 which filed by the US citizens spouse..! The spouse of US citizens normally get visa in their hand within 12months maximum..!

So keep calm and fingers cross..! ;)

May God bless everyone a speedy process..!

AnnaMBoros Thank You for getting back to me. I am the petitioner and I do not have to be present at the time of interview. Due to 2 years of waiting, I booked the ticket to Nepal. My real concern is if I should be here in US during my husband's interview? Or can I be in Nepal

You can be in nepal or US doesn't make difference..! But according to my opinion you should go with your husb. At interview, i am observing if someone appears in interview without spouse they put their case in additional administrative process and took 6 to 8 more months..! Its just my idea..! If spouse(petitioner) is also present at interview the visa stamp ratio is higher..!

Stay blessed and speedy process for everyone..! Just a pray..! :)

    Hi there

Today is exactly 14 months since my case(F2A) was received by USCIS Phoenix Lockbox and it has been accepted and routed to the USCIS California Service Center for processing. There is no action on it from one 14 months ago up to now(even not approved yet). However, according to the average USCIS Processing Time Information for the California Service Center, it is definitely Outside Normal Processing Time.

I made an inquiry about 3 months ago, and it has been responded and confirmed that it will be a decision or notice of other action in the near future, but nothing happened.

is there any same situation? what do you offer for now, pals?

    tnx

Yup same issue..! But not trasfered..! 11months been from my P.D i just called USCIS they said is there any issue with your address? Then checked my record file there was a mistake in address, now i am just sending the correction letter to California service centre, the address which is on Form I-797, this way out suggested by USCIS..! So you also have to recheck your i-130 n G-325A if you have made a mistake then follow the procedure as i am doing..! And just pray for approval..!

N one thing more in my knowledge once your case trasfered there are 99% chances of approval with in next 45days..! So also keep your fingers cross..!

If they confirmed the address on the phone then maybe it's alright.  Maybe you should submit the form with the correct address just to make sure they have it on file.  I'm sorry, I don't have answers for how something like this would work or what they will do on their end.  You may want to submit your question as its own thread and more knowledgeable users can assist you.

    Thanks for your help..!

Today i just called again to USCIS, they said submit online form AR-11 change of address..! With correction, i have submitted as per their suggestion..! Now let see what happen..! Will let you know if it's effective..!

    Stay blessed..!

  12.

Hi there, I'm sorry you're having trouble, but I'm not a lawyer or an expert so I'm not sure what advice to give you.  When they called did you give them the correct address?  I think there are change of address forms you can submit in the event that you move while in the middle of the immigration process.  Sorry I can't be of more help but I'm just a regular person going through the immigration process as well.

Thanks for writing..! But you have good knowledge to suggest the right solution..! Yes they asked address twice and i just gave them a correct address then she said ok there was an issue with your address..! Now what you suggest should i just submit a request to change of address? Or they will change it by their self after confirmation?

Maybe you remember me or not,  you guided my to switch my forum to CR-1 to F-2A. :)

    Stat blessed

  13.

That's fantastic news!  Congrats to you and your family! :D

My PD is june 17, 2016 and its been 11months almost not any adjudication yet..! Now what should i do please suggestion needed..!

    Best regards

    Hi,

I am here as a permanent resident and sponsor for my wife as well. I got my I-130 approved within 3-month. For next step, you have to wait until your priority date become current. As our application, we have waited for 18 months, and it will become available in October 2015. If your husband oversea, you will be contacted by NVC to complete all steps for consular process. If your husband is in the US, you can apply for Adjustment of Status.

However, there is a new change that will be effective from October 2015. Visa bulletin will have 2 tables that "Date for filling Family-Sponsor Visa Application" will allow you to submit paperwork as early as 1-year in advance. Of course, you will not receive an interview notice until your PD is become current, but this will help you to avoid additional time after your case is become current.

You can check the current Visa Bulletin at http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/english/law-and-policy/bulletin.html

Hi..! My PD is 17, june 2016 still i am waiting for NOA2, suggestion needed..! What should i do i have called USCIS they said we ll call you back just leave you contact number..! Otherwise stay on call for 292mins..!
