Hey everyone, my husband (from the UK) had his Naturalization interview (in NYC) and passed today!
However, something weird happened. He said that he kept seeing people come out of their interview with their oath dates immediately. But when it came to him...
"I wasn't given a date for my oath. I was told they'll run a background check and I'll receive something in the mail in a month. Which makes me uncomfortable because I saw other people receiving their oath dates."
I always got the impression that the background check came *before* the interview. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know what's going on or why he might have been flagged for additional background check?
Any thoughts would help, thanks!

Instructions: If more than 30 days have elapsed since your NOA1 date and you have not received your biometrics appointment letter, you can call the NCSC (their number is on your NOA1) and put in service request to the service center which you filed (CSC or VSC) to find out the status of the biometrics appointment letter. Make sure to verify the home address and mailing address (if any) with them on the phone. You can also request to speak to an immigration officer (you may have to ask at least twice to be transferred) to get your CR I-89 receipt number, (it is the receipt number of the biometrics letter) so that you can track your case online.

What is the number for the NCSC? Would it be the number for the VSC I see on the NOA1 I received? (800) 375-5283?
Also does anyone know their hours? My husband and I both work and I figured we needed to coordinate together for the necessary information for this call... I heard that people mentioned they needed the green card info too? Anything else I need to know?

When applying for the K-1 Visa, I remember having to make 3 copies of everything I sent in.
Do we have to do that again for applying for Removing Conditions?
Will only 2 copies suffice, if we do need to make copies?

For cell phone bills, utilities and bank statements - make it so it spans your marriage and since you got the GC - 2-3 bank statements from first months, then 2-3 more 6-10 months later and then 2-3 of the most recent ones. You don't want to overwhelm the reviewer.
That's what we sent and no issues - approved real fast.

We have sent our joint federal and state taxes for the last 3 years (2007, 2008 and 2009) every single month of utilities (SDGE), some of the cable provider and internet (time warner cable and some of COX our current provider) some cell phone bills, home phone bills,
copy of our health insurance cards and dental plan with a statement of some claims in 2008 one in 2009 and one n 2010) , copy of every single month of our joint checking and savings account on Wells Fargo and Chase (former WAMU) since when we got married, copy of joint credit cards (Walmart and Mastercard), costco membership, copy of the march 2010 online rent statement,
copy of the letter of our leasing application approval welcoming us to the condo when we moved to the current place dated december 2008, a few random pictures with our dog, letter of two friends, wedding invitation from a friend, airline reservations, hotel reservations, copy of online major purchases (fancy nikon professional camera that I brought hubby for Christmas, copy of every single month of our cars insurances (of course everything with both of our names on it) a cover letter written by me telling then what was included in the envelop and talking a little about our life, our dog (which is our baby) our plans for the future, etc...
I think that was all, or maybe there is something else that I might not remember.

Very helpful! But can you be more specific about how many copies of, say, your cell phone bill you sent? I have every bill for every month since he's been here, and I was wondering if they really needed to see *every* month, because that would end up being a lot of paperwork. Or is every other month, or every 4 or 6 months okay?

I was curious as to how much evidence was too much? I've collected a huge box of every shared bank statement/insurance/utility bill/etc over the course of the time my husband and I have been together, and I was wondering do they *really* need me to make copies of ALL of these documents? Or is like, 2 of each enough?
Can anyone who's successfully filed the I-751 share how many pieces of evidence they've included for each type? (How many bank statements, gas bills, electricity bills, etc, to include?)

eligibility is state dependant... look to your appropriate state agency for the answer... he can always file... his eligibility will be determined then

Do you know anything about whether or not we'd get into trouble for him working in the 1-month gap between EADs? -
My husband got fired on Monday and the subject of collecting unemployment has been thrown around. Our situation is a bit different from ones I've read before in this situation, so I wanted to hear some feedback? Here's the run-down:
We live and work in NYC.
He's worked at a retail store for about 3 months.. 2 of those months, he was under his temporary EAD. 1 month his employer let him stay working there before he got his green card and renewal EAD. He received his renewal EAD on Friday (approved on the 5th), and was fired 3 days later. The employer refused to update his employment information with the new green card/EAD information before he was fired.
He was forced to sign a form stating inaccurate and subjective reasons for his being fired, under the threat of not receiving his final paycheck. The reasons include a very vague (and contrived) explanation of him not being "fit" for the job.
Is he eligible to file for unemployment? If so, would we get trouble for him working in the gap between EADs? Would the inaccurate form he was forced to sign come into play?

Looks like cases received early June are not being transferred as fast as cases received at the end of the month. That could be a trend or just an improved email communication process for new cases. Not sure if all early June cases are being email notified.
I'm sorry, I'm a little confused -- E-mail notified? Are we supposed to sign up somewhere on the USCIS website to be E-mail notified, or is this a standard procedure? Should I expect a paper letter telling me of a transfer, or an E-mail?

I see that in the guide, it says, "Include any additional required supporting documentation or photos as well as payment as noted here." for the I-765.. But things like the copy of I-94 and 2 passport photos were already listed earlier in the guide.
Does that mean I'll have to provide duplicate copies (2 I-94 copies and 4 passport photos) for the I-765 form, or will they make use of the material already in the package?
Its best to provide the duplicate copies. As some AOS gets transferred to another office. Better to compile documents as if you filing them (each application) separately.

The date that is on the I-94. The K-1 Visa date is for when you must use it to enter the country. Once you use it it is no longer valid. The I-94 is what determines when you need to be married by and how long the K-1 visa entry is good for.

So as long as I turn in the AOS application before the expiration date, we're kosher? It doesn't have to be processed before it expires, right? -
Which date do I put as the "Expires on" date for the I-485 form? The date on the K-1 visa itself (October 30), or the date that's 90 days after he entered the country (July 28)?

Cover letter, or just make a note next to the check box, and attach a letter to the other financial evidence that you will be attaching to the I-864, or I-864EZSomeone asked same question yesterday.
