  1. Hmm...that's very interesting.

We're going to need a rental car anyways in Vancouver, I wonder if it would be possible to just rent the car in Vancouver?

    Thanks for the info!

Have you though about catching a bus to Vancouver and back instead of driving yourself? For the nerves... This way you could relax on the bus instead of concentrate on driving 3 hours on winter roads...

There are express busses from Seatac to Vancouver city and airport, they leave a couple of times a day and only stop a few times on their way up. They are REALLY affordable (I think I paid something like 20$).

Quickcoaches I think is what they're called.

  2. Welcome to our world.

Wouldn't it be awesome if we could file a suit saying we were victims of prejudice because we were engaged, and we were pulled into secondary often because of our martial status? :P

All of this being said, what's it matter? Last time I checked, US courts don't have much power over a Canadian government agency. And since when do Americans have a "right" to do anything in Canada. Hmm, they don't. Only Canadian citizens and landed immigrants have the "right" to do business in Canada.

  3. Even though I have a relatively low amount of debt (~10,000 including car loan and student loans), I've put myself on a debt diet. I spent a day figuring out how much I could afford to pay towards each of my debt accounts (above the minimum balance). Then, I created calendars for each month, it has listed all my debt accounts ,and the mount I've been allotted to pay. Also, for each month, there is a space for a reward. Craig and I fill in the reward with something silly and small that we want (say, new paint for the living room), and if we pay all the amounts we alloted, then we get to buy ourselves the reward. On the months where a debt account get's paid off (or is supposed to), the reward is larger. The calendars hang in the kitchen so everyone can see.

Sure, we're spending money on rewards which could be put towards debt, but we feel like we need to give ourselves incentives for it to ever work. So far, it's been great. :)

  4. HAHA, that's so wrong!

I guess if you wanted to go this route you could buy those weight boosting shakes from GNC and sneak the powder into his food.

    So wrong.

I recall one poster here was trying to secretly fatten her hubby up and I think she just put mayo on everything and snuck cheese into all his food.
  5. This girl.

I'm flying out to Seattle on Tuesday, and then renting a car and driving it up to Vancouver. Craig's medical is Wednesday, and then interview Thursday.

Part of me is ridiculously excited to see Craig (haven't seen him since October). Part of me is so scared to go. Bah! Nervous. I know we have everything in order and it'll be fine, but still, nervous. ACTUALLY, I think I'm most nervous about one (or both) of our flights being delayed, or the roads are too bad for me to drive up to Vancouver, or getting lost in Vancouver, or neither one of us having cell phones that work out there, or any number of other random things..

What a crazy winter that I'm actually worried about snow and ice in Seattle and Vancouver!

So, my question for everyone, how do you go about calming yourself? I have really bad physical reactions to nervousness (stomach problems, fainting, etc.) So I have to force myself to be calm, what are your tricks?

  6. For international delivery, USPS does use FedEx, so if your beef is with the USPS, I'd recommend against FedEx.

My vote is for DHL, they've always done good by me.

i'm sending those documents to my fiance in morocco (g-325a, i-129f, etc) for him to sign and return to me.

what is the fastest and safest way to get there?

i've only sent him a package once through usps and it got there wayyyyyyyyyyyy after it said it would. is it still the best option or should i do fedex?

  7. What about more hearty salads. Like tuna salad, egg salad, chicken salad, waldorf salad? You can put them on sandwiches but it'll give you a lot more nutrition than just ham. I always bring cheese cubes to lunch. What about those meal replacement shakes? Hard boiled eggs, Wheat Thins, Triscuits (you can get them in all kinds of flavors now), Goldfish, olives, cherry tomatoes, tortilla chips + salsa (or queso)!

Okay, sorry for the random stream of consciousness, I was trying to think what I've brought for my lunch for the past few days! :P

  8. We have a similar border denial, although after the denial, Craig never entered or attempted to enter the U.S. again.

Just be honest, and everything should go fine. The Canadian embassies are used to seeing border denials, it happens quite a bit.

  9. We got my engagement ring from eBay. Risky, I know. But we got very lucky, we had it verified by a certified jeweler in the states and it was a real diamond and solid white gold. $190, and it's STILL the most beautiful ring I've ever seen.

Also, my wedding band is a small simple row of diamonds, $350 from a local jeweler.

Is it a crazy bling, bling set? No. Will I be happy with wearing it on my finger forever? Yes. You don't have to spend a lot of money to get something you love.

It also doesn't hurt that Craig's wedding band is only $90. :P

One thing I'd recommend if you plan on going with eBay, contact the seller and see if they'd be willing to offer a refund to you if after a test by your jeweler, they determine the ring is not what was advertised in the auction. Any reputable jewelry seller should agree to that.

  10. They almost always ask for it in Vancouver. Depends on the embassy. It's not that hard to prepare. Just date and address a new one and have you and your fiance both print one and sign it.

    :star: Cass (bebop the great)

    hi all!

  11. Hey, we're not ALL bad! :P

This part made me laugh because I worked in the design industry for 8 years and I know exactly the kind of ego you are talking about with the "senior designer". It's one main reason that I left the industry -- to many freaking design divas and egos.
  12. Yes, the Affadavit of Support is the I-134.

According you the Rio embassy info: http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/inde...0De%20Janereiro the visa is normally issued 1-3 days after interview. So if your fiance is approved, he'll have his visa 1-3 days later and then may travel.

Any other information about the Sworn Statement? There are a lot of sworn statements in this process. The DS-230II, the I-134, etc.

    :star: Cass (bebop the great)

Hey everyone. My fiance just got back from his interview this morning in Rio de Janeiro, and turns out he was missing some required documents. We have had our interview rescheduled for January 31st, and I am trying to get the missing documents together. I have a few questions, and am hoping that someone will have the answers.

My first question is this: Is the "Sworn Statement" the DS-230 part II?

Also, does anyone know how long after the interview that my fiance will be able to travel? He has his interview at 8am on January 31, and the ticket that I bought is for 8pm Feb 3. Will he have his visa and his passport and be ready to go by then?

My final confusion is this: Are the "Affadavit of Support" and the "I-134" the same thing?

Thanks, everyone. This has been a difficult and horrible morning, but hopefully we will figure everything out and get it right the next time around.

  13. I'd recommend checking around in the Foreign Embassy forum as well as the forum for England. :)

Hello everybody, got our interview on the 31st January in London!

Just a question does anybody know everything that is needed for the interview, would hate any delay to be my fault by not taking something.

Any help would be amazing, also how many people are actually rejected at interview stage, we have so much proof. Hoping its the final formality before I get to be with my gal!

    Cheers

    David
