    Don't worry,

the same thing here and others I know them.

We all had our interviews between Jan 20-31,the status showed issued on ceac, but no passports yet until now.

So pray for us please,  I have a good feeling that we will get our passports this week.

    I trust in ALLAH.

Thanks for the info. Good to know we're not alone!

All of this would have been OK if the officer hadn't told us "two weeks". Malesh.

Let us know how you get on!

  2. A quick question for Egypt / Cairo members:

I've been trying to reach the Immigrant Visa section of the US Embassy about my case, but I've not been successful. The numbers listed on the ustraveldocs website are all automated (and don't recognize my passport number or UID). Does anybody know how to talk to a person about an IV case?

Some background: I'm an IR1 case, I've had my interview, my case status has been "Issued" for two weeks, but I've not received any notification and I can't track my passport online through the ustraveldocs website. I just want to know what's going on!

    Thanks!

  3. OK, so I had the medical at the Anglo-American Hospital today! It went well – I think? Results pending! – but a few pointers about some surprises from the morning:

    • There were three parts to the medical: lab works (blood, urine), chest x-ray, and a consult with the doctor. People did different bits in different orders...
    • The whole thing took 4.5 hours, start to finish, so bring a book, or a snack, or both... We got there at 9, left at 1:30pm. I think they told everybody to come at 9am, so there was a lot of waiting around... Not sure how other hospitals are, but AAH was busy.
    • Contrary to the pdf instructions, I was told I needed 7 photos, not 3—1 for x-ray, 2 for labs, 4 for doctor's paperwork. (When I said that the pdf said 3, they told me malesh, but I can bring the photos when I come collect the final papers in a week).
    • As of 1 October 2016, there is a compulsory gonorrhea test, which is LE 700, on top of other labs. I thought I brought enough cash, but it was tight.

Whole thing cost me LE 1230:

    Chest x-ray: LE 150

    Lab work: LE 700

    Doctor's consult: LE 300

    Missing vaccinations: LE 80

    Hope this is helpful!

I believe you can just walk in and make an appointment.  I attached a pdf that has the contact information for Anglo-American Hospital (Page 5). See if these work, if all else fails, just go there in person and make an appointment. Good Luck to you in your coming interview. :) Happy New Year.

Thank you for this!! Will head on over soon :)

    Happy New Year!

  5. My wife and I are in the same boat – just got our interview letter this week for the Cairo embassy for the start of Feb, and so now trying to get things together for the medical. This has been really helpful information – thank you!!!

This morning I've been trying to call the Anglo-American Hospital in Zamalek to book an appointment, but the numbers listed on the State.gov pdf aren't connecting through to anybody. Is there a time I'm supposed to be calling? Can I go to Zamalek in person to make the appointment?

  6. So I can 100% recommend this whole calling a person and not waiting for the mail thing...

British citizen applying through Cairo embassy, scan date of 14 November. I called on 23 December, was told my case was complete the day before – so 5 and a half weeks.

Just called now on the off-chance that there might be something – I was told they had just scheduled me an interview for February 1st!

  7. Great thread. I'm throwing my hat in too: NOA2 09/29, NVC case number 10/25, scan date 11/14. British nationality but going through embassy in Cairo.

I come with a question, though: I haven't received anything telling me what my scan date is... I saw DHL delivered packages on 11/08; I called NVC and they told me they were received and I had a scan date of 11/14. However, no paperwork—e-mail, letter, anything—to confirm that. It's been a week... Am I missing something? Should I panic?

    Thanks!

  8. Hey VJers,

My wife and I just got our NOA2 (thanks, Nebraska!) and are moving on to the I-864, Affidavit of Support. I've seen a few answers on using foreign assets to meet the Federal Poverty Guideline, but no one quite with our specific case.

With our incomes, we don't meet the 125% requirement. Because it's spouse-based, we know we need to meet 3* (Federal Poverty Guideline – Income), so, we're using our liquid assets to meet the requirement. Jointly, between US and UK bank accounts, we more than meet the requirement.

However, I've just seen on the FAQ section here that foreign assets are calculated at 5* (FPG – Income), not 3.

Maybe I'm being dense, but I don't understand how that works? If our US-based assets need to total 3*(FPG–Y), but our foreign-based assets need to total 5*(FGP–Y)... How do we use them both? From the way the form is constructed, it looks like we can use both the Petitioner's and the Beneficiary's assets to meet the income requirement, right? But how does that work if the income requirement changes depending on whose assets are used? Both our assets combined => 3*(FPG–Y), but < 5*(FGP–Y). I am stumped trying to work out how to work this out...

    Thanks for your help!

  9. Thanks for your reply! We sent this off today—we put the word 'Residential' in front of our address, and then used a continuation sheet to list mailing addresses. Also submitted the e-notification form. Hopefully should be fine...

Good to know we're not the only ones doing this in a third country! More complicated, but means we can stay in the same country for more than six months at a time. Good luck to you and your husband.

    Hi Daniel,

We're in the same situation. Im British and my husband is American. We both live and work in Saudi Arabia. We put our Saudi Arabia address (our P.O. Box and our physical address). This was the address (PO Box) they sent our NOA1 to, but if you can't receive mail then that is problematic. Can you use your employer's address?

  10. Hi there,

My name is Dan, first time poster, long-time lurker—this forum has been more help than I can begin to say.

My wife and I are currently in the process of completing an I-130 on my behalf (she is American, I am a Brit). Unfortunately, we've already stumbled on question #2, asking our addresses. A quick search has come up with some situations a bit like ours, but none quite exactly—apologies if this is a common/obvious question.

Here's why it's slightly complicated for us:

    • My wife is a US citizen, with a permanent mailing address in Delaware (she's a native Delawarean, not a shell company, I promise), employed by an American company, filing American taxes, etc.

    • I'm a British citizen, currently employed by a British company, paying British taxes, and getting mail to my parents' address.

    • We both currently live and work for our respective companies in Egypt, and will be applying for the Immigrant Visa in Cairo (Cairo doesn't have the option of direct consular processing, so we're filing the I-130 to the USCIS dropbox in Chicago, and doing the IV here). We've been here for a year and have the visas in place to stay put for another year, at least. Fingers crossed, etc etc.

    For question #2, do we:

    A) Put the American address for my wife (B2) and the British address for me (C2)?

    B) Put our Egyptian address for both (pros—shows we live together; cons—we can't actually receive mail at our Egyptian address)

    C) Put the American mailing address for both B2 and C2?

The G-325a breaks down past addresses, but it's not clear if the intention here is a mailing address, a physical address, and for whom...

Many thanks in advance for your collective wisdom!

    Dan
