  1. Hey guys... is it just me or does this whole thing seem that much easier because you are already WITH your husband/wife? I was so nervous every day checking everything before with the 129F...and now it's like "Oh...the got the packet...cool. Or... ok, so they cashed the checks..." I mean...it's so much easier to take the waiting when I can go home to my husband every day! So cool!!!

ANyway, just like Jashley820, they cashed my checks yesterday. Ouch. :o)

Absolutely!!!:dance: I used to check the uscis website not once but like 4 times daily for a sign of action on our file with the K1. Now I look maybe once a week or so, but am really only concerned about the EAD as my husband isn't planning to go back home until 2008. With them by your side, it's like, give me a STACK of paperwork, I don't care as long as he is with me while I fill it out!

My husband is going to the Seattle office tomorrow for biometrics, I'll let you know how it goes! I'm hoping it's a quick and simple :)
    k

Uh thanks but it says your local office is Vermont...why is he coming to Seattle for prints??

I'll look forward to your reply in the next day or so.

That's from the good ole K1 Visa process, I didn't notice that was still there! Since then we've moved to the Seattle area.

  2. I think I should complain on here more often! Every time I do I get something in the mail

My biometrics letter came today. My appt. is on May 16.

Me too. Maybe if we all complain, we may all bypass interview.....

I agree with you guys. The day I posted about only receiving NOA on EAD and not AOS, I got the one for AOS! So complain away!! Apparently it works...

Anyone here done biometrics in Seattle? Is it a pretty simple in and out procedure?

  3. Where does a person sign up for email notifications for AOS I-485 ?

    Go here: https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp

Then, if you haven't created one already, create a customer portfolio account. After that, login to your account and add cases to your portfolio by entering your reciept number from your NOA1 for the I-485. Then select that case in your portfolio and make sure that the email option is selected.

  4. Ok, all my fretting was in vain. Tita got her biometrics appointment letter today. She is scheduled for May 15, 2007.

And we never got an email notification, even though the notice date is April 23rd. So go figure that out.

I don't believe they update your case status for the biometrics appointment at all, it only comes in the mail. My online case status hasn't changed since NOA1 and I have a biometrics appointment too.

  5. Adding myself to the list :)

  6. I'm looking for information on petitions that were sent back to the USCIS from a foreign embassy by mistake. The consulate in Naples recieved my petition last week, saw the priority date of April 24th, and sent it straight back to the US! Nevermind the fact that my petition already included the IMBRA related evidence and therefore should not have been sent back. Has this happened to anyone else? Also, is there anyone who can give me some advice on how to get my petition back on track?! It was sent from Naples on the 20th of July, NVC still has no record of recieving it.

    Hey there,

Just read Your posting and think I know the problem.

You mentioned the Date of April 24 th, well USCIS did not yet have IMBRA Compliant forms until the end of June, Therefore in the eyes of Our ever inefficient Government, You are not IMBRA Compliant, whether You sent the Info or Not. Hate to be the bringer of bad news,

Ours got approved on 4/21 and sent to China where it sat for three months, and USCIS Still has not received it back, Hows that for efficiency,

I allways thought it was not possible to screw up a rock Fight but the US Government will !

I don't completely agree. My receipt date was April 24, 2006, NOA1. However, as many on this forum can attest our petitions were held up at the service centers so that they could send us a questionnaire that had the additional questions on that are on new form I-129F, so that our applications are compliant with the new IMBRA law. The Request for Evidence that I recieved states as such. My application, complete with the additional information, was approved in JULY. I have seen many go smoothly from NOA1, IMBRA RFE, and NOA2 to the consulate and the consulate did not send it back. There's no need to, it has all of the required information. I've talked to 3 different people at the National Visa Center and they all say that there is no reason for my petition to be returned, same with the Service Center hotline, because my petition was still at the Service Center when these new procedures came into place. If your application was approved and sent to the foreign consulate BEFORE the IMBRA RFE's were sent, then it had to be returned so that the questionnaire could be sent.

In any case, it seems everyone is confused by the procedures they put into place for this new law.

  7. Can these consulate people be more confusing?!?!?!

Or confused. I think they read the first few words of the DOS Notice about IMBRA and then thought that they had to send back EVERY petition with a priority date after March 8th. Nevermind why, they must send them back! I'm doing my best to explain to them what happened, of course I'm sure they will never accept any blame for this. Every place tells me to contact another.

So, I'm putting together three letters, and faxes, to the VSC, NVC, and Consulate detailing my case, what happened and the dates of everything. Sending along all email correspondence, with approval notices and my copy of the IMBRA RFE that I completed. Then, I'm calling them, all the time, until the case is back in Naples and back on track! If it gets stuck anywhere, I'm finding some help from Senators or Congressmen.

All else fails, I'm sending in my angry grandmother, she didn't want me to have a wedding in the middle of winter, so we were planning for the fall :)

  9. Well, it's the embassy that has made the mistake, and now after a few more phone calls and emails I've gotten the whole story. I'm not sure where to post this, at this point my petition is going everywhere. The US Consulate in Naples has mistakenly sent my petition back to the NVC in the US because they thought it was one of the "after March 8th" petitions that needed to get the extra documents for IMBRA. However, my case was still at VSC when that happened, and I got my IMBRA RFE and completed it. Now, the consulate in Naples sent the case back on the 20th of July, NVC has no records of it coming through yet. When I called the NVC I got a very unfriendly man who informed me that all cases sent back through them are forwarded to the service centers. So now my case has to go back to Vermont for NO reason!

Like I said, I don't know where to post this. I'm heartbroken, scared, and I don't know what to do. I can't just wait and hope that this mistake isn't compounded by the mistakes of others, but I don't know what to do. The USCIS Service Center hotline had a very nice woman who tried to help me, but it's obvious that they don't know what to do there anyway. She didn't seem to know much about what was going on with the IMBRA law at all.

If anyone has had their petitions sent back by mistake, please tell me your experiences. Or if anyone has any idea at all for what I should be doing to try and get this petition back on track. Or if anyone just wants to send a litte virtual hug. I thought I was going to be married in November to the man I've been waiting for all my life....

  10. So, up until now, everything had been going pretty smoothly for my fiance visa. A little hold-up with IMBRA but I got my approval, it flew through the NVC and was forwarded to Naples on the 13th of July. Today comes the bad news. My fiance recieved and email from consulate in Naples after he emailed them looking to see if they had received the case, and they wrote that the case had been SENT BACK to the NVC at their request and we should contact the NVC for more information.

Oh, I contacted the NVC and the guy I was talking to was as confused as I. No, they had not requested that our case be sent back, we were after the IMBRA fiasco, we had already done the RFE with the extra information. No, the case was not there. He wanted to know when the case was sent back, but of course the email my fiance received was one sentence long and gave no details. Calling the Consulate in Naples has proven to be impossible. I've emailed and I get a nice automated response saying that it will take about 2 weeks, to get a real email from them. This week I had started wedding plans because I felt as though I had some idea when I would acutally be having a wedding. Any suggestions on how I should deal with this would be greatly appreciated. I'm terrified that my case is going to get lost somewhere.

  12. Hi,

Me and my fiance are in the process of getting all of the documents he's going to need for his interview together and I'm looking for some information about the police clearances that he needs. He's Italian, back in Italy now, but he was living in Vancouver, Canada for a little over a year attending school there. I went to the same school, that's how we met :)

Anyway, I know he needs to get a police clearance from Canada, but the more I read the more confused I'm becoming. First, there are both the local police department, and an RCMP Detachment in Vancouver and I don't know which one we need to ask for this. Both have Police Clearance services it seems. Second, I can't find out if he needs to send his fingerprints or not! I read somewhere that a name based clearance was enough, what are others experience in this!?! Is there anyone here that has gotten a police clearance from Canada for someone outside of Canada? And if so, what was the process?

    Thanks!

  13. Greetings, I'm in the process of getting all the necessary documents together to complete the Affidavit of Support, and while in the process of getting a letter from my employer they asked me a good question to which I don't know the answer. To whom (and if possible the address) of the party that the letter should be addressed to? Or should it be left To Whom it May Concern? What have other people done in this regard?

    Thanks in advance

  14. Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new to all of this so I'm still trying to figure out what all of the abbreviations mean! I sent in my application for an I-129F visa on May 2, 2006 and I recieved an email on Thursday, June 15 stating that a RFE was being mailed to me. I still haven't recieved it so I have no idea what it's about. After reading all these posts it seems like something is going on?
