  1. Go elsewhere to get married! The rules were different here in Florida by county. In Osceola county, all he needed was his passport...nothing else at all. They didn't care about divorce decrees or if he had a fiance visa. As long as 2 people had some form of identity (and a passport was fine), you signed a paper saying you were free to marry and that was it. If you can't find anything closer, head to Florida, lol.

    That"s a great idea!!!lorida.

I spent the winter in Florida and my DL and car registration is from F

  2. Hi,

Well after six years and two K-1 attempts my fiancee finally arrived on July 4th.

We went to Philadelphia today for a marriage license. The woman that we spoke with, said

that my fiancee needs two forms of I.D. and a translated copy of her divorce decree.

Unfortunately my fiancee only has her passport.

Not sure what to do now.

I would have thought that if a K-1 visa was issued. The people at city hall would

realize that USCIS had already verified her eligibility.

    Any suggestions??

    Thanks,

    Ed

  3. Hi,

So after 6 years my fiancee and her son were to arrive in the

    U.S. July 4.

She had a letter from the father allowing their son to immigrate

to the U.S. All the while my fiancee was suing for full custody

and child support. The father broke into her apartment and stole

    the letter.

The father never shows up in court, so her attorney says that

she will be granted custody at the next hearing. Unfortunately

the hearing was cancelled and rescheduled.

Now my fiancee will come here alone and we will marry. She will

be here with me until Aug 29. Then she must return to Russia for court and to

be with her child. Her son does not speak English and will be starting school

this year. We feel it would be in his best interests to finish his first year

of school in Russia. We plan for her to return with her son Nov 21. Then return

to Russia Jan 5. They will come back during the summer, where he will have time to

    learn English.

    Finally my questions.

What exactly will we need to do for her to be able to leave and return

    with her son.

Will her son (k-2) need advanced parole?

Does her son need to be present for AOS interview?

    Thanks,

    Ed

  4. OK, I ended up scanning and emailing what I had copies of.

Tax returns, bank statements, cancelled checks and an employment letter.

Everything went well, they wanted certified tax returns (of course))).

Tax transcripts were in the package of documents......So everything should be ok.))

They did not ask for proof of a relationship....

But after the debacle, 2 1/2 years ago. They shouldn't have.

Russian post attempted delivery of the documents today!

24 days after sending 3-5 day express mail(

    Moral to this story......Use Fedex!!

  5. Why would someone move a question about a K-1 interview

    to the Russia section?

IT IS NOT A RUSSIA SPECIFIC POST!!!

Really, I have been reading this site for 5 years and

never understand why these moderators do some things.

Or why the same genius's/idiots always want to be

    condescending to other peoples questions.

If you don't have advise or a good answer, don't post!!

My question is simple and important (to me) why move it

where I won't find an answer??

  6. Hi,

My Fiance is going to Moscow Wednesday for her K-1,K-2 interview on Friday.

This is our second time going through this, the embassy messed everything up the

first time. So after two years(six total)we are here again.

I sent all of the documents needed for her interview on 3-23.

They cleared customs on 4-2 and now nothing.

I am afraid that the documents are in a pile in the woods. Because the

postal worker decided to open everything on the truck to look for money.

    Not funny.....It happens in Russia((

Everything is paid for, hotel, train etc, non-refundable of course)).

My Fiance is going to France and Germany for work on the 26th. Our four

month window for the interview to take place ends on 4-22.

Any suggestions besides calling the post office ?

Can she go to the interview without the documents and send them later?

    Ed

  7. I filed my second K-1 visa for the same woman on April 15th.

After 5 months I contacted USCIS. I received an email saying that

my petition was under additional review. If I don't have an answer

    in 6 months call back.

I thought that it would be faster the second time around. The

first time it took 9 months from filing to interview at the embassy.

I sent nearly the exact same package as I did on my first K-1.

Anyway, Should I ask my congressman to help?

I'm having visions of the person working my case standing in the doorway

talking to co workers. Or worse, lost my file.

My first K-1 was cancelled without prejudice. USCIS said that I could

    file another at any time.

    Thanks for any suggestions,

    Ed

  8. Hi

I filed a K-1 application two years ago.

My fiance had her interview in Moscow. The Embassy kept her

passport while waiting for a tax transcipt from me. While waiting

my fiance had to go to Germany for her job. She explained this to

the Embassy and they returned her passport. The Embassy then sent

our entire K-1 visa package back to the U.S.

Fast forward two years and I have filed the same paperwork for

the same woman. Only this time it is taking longer than before.

After five months of waiting you can request an update on your

status. I did that and was told that they are doing some additional

investigation and if I don't hear anything in six months, call again.

    Does anyone have any advice?

    Thank, Ed

  9. Hi,

My fiancee and I previously filed a K-1 application.

She had her interview at the Moscow embassy. They kept her

passport but requested some more information from me. While

I was acquiring the additional information, She decided to

    cancel the process.

We are going to apply again, but she is now worried that

the embassy can refuse the application because of the prior

    cancellation.

Is there any reason for us to be worried?

    Thanks,

    Ed

  10. Here is the situation. My fiance had her interview in November.

The embassy requested more documentation. Financial, proof of relationship

    etc.

In the meantime, my fiance needed her passport. She had to go to Germany

for business. The embassy sent the passport back to her. Then sent our entire

package back to USCIS for review.

We don't know where we are now. USCIS said if we haven't received information

after 120 days to call back. It is way past 120 days. Now another 60 day wait

before they want me to call again.

    Thanks,

    Ed

  11. Hi,

I was thinking of trying to bring my fiance to America

with a tourist visa. Instead of going to Russia again or meeting in another country.

She has a 5 year old son, who I would like to bring also. She owns her apartment

    and has a little business.

What are your experiences with a tourist visa for a Russian citizen?

What advice do you have to get this visa approved?

    Thank you,

    Ed

  12. My fiance knew everything. I told her 3 years ago and she had all of the

police reports that I could get.

I obtained a copy of my police report. There are 20 alias names that the C/O

    said I used.

They obviously don't know how to read these things.

    I had a friend, who I haven't seen since 1990.

He was a drug addict who would steal for his habit.

That is why I stopped being his friend.

Anyway, he gave my name once when he was arrested.

He knew my birth date and address.

So now I am forever linked to this man.

The police report has my name and info.

Then my old friends name and info. Height, weight etc.

So anyway. It's nice to have a place to vent.

The relationship seems to be over.

  13. Hi,

My fiance recently had her interview.

I have told her everything that I have ever done in my life.

I have a past domestic violence conviction.

I lived with a woman for 4 years. We only dated for the first 6 months.

Then just shared a house. She had boyfriends and I didn't care. I didn't

    have any feelings for her.

But, she used a temporary protective order to evict me from the house.

There were a lot of lies involved to get this.

This woman had been sent to a mental institution 2 times in her life.

She also talked to a psychiatrist every week. But, she stopped a few

months before all of this happened. It was too expensive she said.

Anyway at the interview, the C/O told my fiance that I was a monster.

They also showed a list of fake names that I used to hide from the police.

All of this is untrue. I have never used a fake name. I never hid from the

police. I am not a monster.

I thought that they we only supposed to ask if they knew about this.

    And to show police reports.

Are they allowed to give their opinions?

  14. She had a copy of 2008 my tax return.

A copy of 1 years bank statements and my employment letter.

My fiance misplaced the original documents that I gave her.

That included copies of all pay checks. I get a 1099 not a W-2.

I had to scramble to get what I could before her interview.

We had rescheduled once already and didn't want to again.

She has since found the original package that I gave her.

But, really the only difference is the copies of checks.

  15. Hi,

My fiance had her interview on November 20th.

The C/O requested a certified copy of my tax return for 2008.

I have read about tax transcripts being taken to the interview.

But, I have never read about a certified tax return on VJ.

The certified tax return can take 60 days to obtain according to the IRS web site.

What did your fiance bring to the interview?

Transcripts or a certified copy of your tax return?

I wrote an email to the Embassy asking if the tax transcripts would be sufficient.

But you know they won't be back to work until Monday. Then probably answer my

    email on Wednesday.

    Thanks,

    Ed

  16. Hi,

My fiance had the same problem on Friday.

I didn't send copies of emails or phone records.

After getting advice on this web site. I felt they would

    be unnecessary.

She did have the only 3 pictures of us together.

We just never seem to think about asking someone to take

them. I have tons of pictures of her and her son.

    Another strange thing?

They showed her a list of alias names that I have used.

My name is Edward as a child I went by Eddie now I go by

    Ed.

Where do they come up with this ######?

Anyway, they kept her passport and asked us to send more info

and pictures. I guess I need to go back to St. Petersburg.

    Ed

  17. Hi,

I had a similar problem. I personally delivered the original documents to

my fiance. She lost them, they were found at a friends dacha. But, too late

    for the interview.

I sent what I could priority overnight via Fed ex. There really isn't overnight delivery to Russia.

I sent the documents on the 12th of November. The estimated delivery date was the 17th.

The documents were delivered as promised. But, hurry as it takes more time than in the U.S.

    Best of luck,

    Ed
