  1. We've been trying to get a B2 visa. We had an interview originally scheduled for March 2020 which was cancelled due to Covid. Then we scheduled for Oct 2020 which was cancelled for no reason. Then we again scheduled for Jan 2021 which has now also been cancelled without any reason.

When we try to schedule a new interview it now says:

"There are currently no appointments available."

Does anyone know what is happening?

  2. My wife has been in the country for more than 3 years on a conditional green card. She has been waiting for an interview since May 2019. Her physical green card expired in 2019 and even her 18 month extension letter expired this year.

We had to go to an office last month to get a stamp in her passport to extend her conditional green card another year.

So my question is while we are in this endless wait for an interview can we go ahead and file for N400 since she has been here more than 3 years?

  3. We are filing a B2 visa and I'm not sure where to find my bank receipt number. They didn't give us a separate receipt they just put a stamp on the deposit slip we took in.

The website says "you will need the receipt number printed on your bank receipt. See the example below circled in red." And then it just shows a blank deposit slip with nothing circled. Not very helpful.

I read someone say that you are supposed to enter your Pakistan ID card number as your receipt number? Is this still true?

  4. Thanks. Another question: does the immigrant have to sign anything?

I know during the travel ban mess they were forcing some people to sign away their green cards. I don't want my wife signing anything she doesn't understand.

I want to be able to tell my wife not to sign anything and just give her documents, fingerprints, answer any questions and leave with her stamped passport.

That is just sooooooo awful. I am so sorry. I would call them and demand an interview ASAP and discuss your travel plans. I have read somewhere they CAN change the interview date at Islamabad embassy. Oh I would be pissed if they did that to my husband who will be traveling all the way from Karachi. That is soooooooo not right. If I was in your place, I would go to the embassy directly as soon as they open and see if they can let me interview. It doesn't hurt as you are already in Islamabad aren't you ?

I am living 3 hours drive away from Islamabad right now. I already called the embassy and they said the visa department is closed so i should call back tomorrow.

  6. UN FREAKING BELIEVABLE!!

I am just one hour from leaving for my interview when I check my email and they tell me I've been rescheduled for Mar 28 because the idiot Pakistani government decided to make today a holiday.

I cannot tell you how upset I am. I'm currently here with my wife and daughter and am now going to have to completely change my travel plans. This might cost me thousands of dollars.

    1. Is "no-reply@aeg.com.pk" a legitimate email from the US Embassy in Islamabad?

I already called NVC and they had no idea. They still show today as my interview date and said if the embassy rescheduled it I would have to contact them.

    2. Is there any chance the embassy could give me an earlier date. Anyone have experience with this? They are closed today so will have to call tomorrow.

I'm guessing I can't request an expedite at this point since I already have an interview scheduled. Am I right?

    Argggghhhh......

There is no change or no consideration for any change or restriction on visa policy for Pakistan. All such rumors are circulated for making new US govt controversial.

Statement Issued by US Consulate - Pakistan on 02-02-2017

Unfortunately this statement doesn't mean much. It's not like the embassies have any inside information.

The embassies for the other 7 countries had no idea they were going to be banned either. Even some of Trump's own staff didn't know he was signing the order.

    2. Write down your case number. It is a series of three letters and 10 numbers with no dashes or spaces. An example NVC case number looks like this: MNL2013524001.

    3. Split the figures as follows: LLL NNNN NNN NNN, where "L" is a letter and "N" is a number.

    4. Read the three letters from the left. This is the code for the U.S. consulate that has jurisdiction over the visa applicant's location. It is where you will get a visa interview. For example, "MNL" refers to the U.S. consulate in Manila.

    5. Read the first four numbers following the letters. In this example it is "2013." This is the year that the NVC received the visa application.

    6. Read the next three numbers. This is the day of the year in which the case was received. It is the figure minus 500. For example, "524" means NVC got the package on the 24th day of the year, January 24.

    7. Read the last three numbers in the case number. It tells you the order it was assigned to the consulate that day. In this example, it is "001" so it was the first case created for the Manila consulate on Jan. 24, 2013.

Hope this can guide you well,

    Best of luck

The case number is assigned when the NVC receives the case and is long before any consulate is involved.

The last 3 numbers simply represent how many cases the NVC received that day and has nothing to with how many people are ahead of you for an interview.

There is absolutely no reason to assume that all of the cases from that day are going to be complete at the same time.

For example my case number is 012 but those 11 people in front of me may have all gotten RFEs and are still being processed while my case is already complete and is just waiting for the interview date.

  9. So I've read every guide but they have scant details about what happens now other than I'll get an interview date in 1 month.

I keep seeing people talk about scan date which is new to me. My packet arrived at NVC on 11/10. Will they send an email to acknowledge they have received it? Is this the scan date?

Do I have to call to receive this? What happens after that?

Will constantly calling them help move things along or should I just wait to hear from them?

    Thanks.

  10. I currently have 15 email accounts so forgive me for not remembering the right one. Normally when I type in the wrong username or password into a site it gives me an error. It doesn't automatically create a new account.

You don't need a password to create a timeline here. You don't even need an email address.

Try it yourself. Go to add/edit timeline and type in completegibberish@email.com. Fill in the first few entries and hit submit and boom you've just created a worthless timeline.

  11. Thanks thats very helpful.

I wouldn't have created any new accounts if the site's timeline management wasn't so lousy. If you make a typo entering your email, guess what? You just created a new account.

Not to mention the fact that anyone who knows your email can edit your timeline.

  12. After some more careful reading and making a few calls I've figured it out. Like I said this is all new to me.

    1. I am in fact not an employee of the corporation so I will list myself as "Owner" which is what it says on my tax returns.

    2. The NVC website asks for a "business license" if you are self-employed AND you are below the poverty line. So I don't need this.

    3. My personal tax return does have Schedule E in it. The I-864 instructions say this is required if you are self-employed. So I will send in my full returns in addition to transcripts.

  13. Does the Pakistan embassy physically mail these packets to the immigrant or is it done thru email now?

So far we've been getting all the updates thru email. I'm just waiting on approval for the IV payment and then will submt my DS-260.

Also if/when NVC approves will they give me the interview date or do I have to schedule it myself?
