  1. JUST get Ukraine PC, I mean how will embassy know the difference? They will have no clue. Besides she was student and still Ukraine citizen. Also remember to get the PC translated to English or they will not accept it. They will want both Ukrainian version of PC original and the translated version and I do believe they will want to keep that original Ukrainian PC.

They will know if they look at her internal passport (propiska sp?) This documents show the citizens life history and current status of children, marriage, etc.... if I am not mistaken..... Remember we are dealing with a former soviet state that has only been independent for 15 years. Many things (such as identification documents) are still carry overs from that era.

My Fiancee had her interview in December and they did not ask for her internal passport. Do not take it in with you! The people at the 'paperwork window' are Ukrainian nationals and would recognize what it is, don't risk it. Take only the International Passport... Good luck

Yeah. Don't even mess with the internal stuff. The US doesn't care. Show them an international passport.

  2. Before anyone here even knew they were going to Marry someone from another Country, did you know anything about what the Immagration process would be? I always thought that if someone married an American, it was an instant Greencard and that people from INS would show up at your house at anytime and check if you were sleeping in the same bed, etc.

i had no clue about the entire process nor was i aware that so many government offices could be so inept.

In BOTH countries! One thing I learned is that governement workers suck everywhere.

  3. Nope didn't factor into my job at all...tho the toga party stories are amusing to my coworkers

Amen to that! My party life in college (ie NETWORKING) has got me more money then my degree (Theater) ever will!

  4. I just read the article. It isn't only Muslims who hold this view. Almost all religious leaders of all faiths proclaim something similar about this religion. I know my wife's family is VERY concerned about our marriage because I am not Russian Othodox. They keep saying that they don't want their grandchildren raised as heathens or pagans. :)

  5. Ok, I am confused.

The poll results at this point in time have 45 respondents with 45*3=135 total votes cast (3 questions, 3 votes per respondent).

Now, I'm assuming if one puts up a tree it has to be either real or fake. What is not real is fake and what is not fake is real. Sounds simple to me, maybe I'm missing something.

To that question, 25 say real, 17 say fake and 3 say neither. I assume those 3 are people who will not be putting up any tree at all; after all, if one did put up a tree, it would have to be either real or fake.

And yet, in response to the next two questions ("What kind of tree are you using this year?" and "Lights on Tree"), 11 and 6 respondents respectively say they do not intend to put up a tree.

    Shouldn't these numbers be equal?

You're confused because you're doing math and looking for logic on VJ.

    Now just stop that mister!

    :P

    I actually answered him!

    Sillyhead! :P

  6. Something that's under the $10 range to compliment the Thanksgiving dinner (we're having turkey and ham).

I like Gewurtztraminer (sp) but it's a bit too sweet.

    Something a litte more mild.

...oh and something I can find at Trader Joe's or Costco. :P

I really like a Pinot Grigio. Although some brands are (a lot) better than others. Ernest & Julio's Turning Leaf is a nice one.

If that's a little too dry, Blossom Hill's Californian white wine (the one with the blue label, I think it's just called 'Californian White' rather than a name) it's a quite fruity, citrus-tasting medium.

You can definitely buy E&J in the usuall US supermarket, not sure about Blossom Hill as I've only ever seen it in the UK.

    Enjoy your dinner! :)

Actually for a 'store bought' wine Turning Leaf is quite nice. Give it a try.

  7. Heathrow is in West London, Gatwick is in West Sussex. Gatwick is much further from London how on earth are these two similar distances???

For central London, Heathrow is definatly closer.

Well both Gatwick and Heathrow are similar distances from central London. IMO Gatwick is the FAR better airport. Better facilities and in a better area.

Heathrow is on the Piccadilly Line (tube) which would take you directly to London. Gatwick has the Gatwick Express train Line, which runs into Victoria (also in Central London). This is actually quicker than the tube line.

Neither airport is near the embassy I'm afraid!

These are the stations you would need on the tube. *points up*

Piccadilly Circus and Hyde Park Corner are both ON the Piccadilly Line. So you could fly into Heathrow and just get the tube all the way. It would take a while...so make sure you have PLENTY of time!

By using Gatick Express the time is about the same to get from either to downtown. And I agree...I MUCH prefer Gatwick over Heathrow. Personal opinion though...
