Do you know how many telephones are in your house? I didn't until I read the list of potential questions. Do you know what brand of televisions are in all of your rooms...I still don't.
If anyone is interested in the answers to these questions, just to help people prepare for AOS, the correct answers are: 3 and Sony and Toshiba.
Are you a pompey supporter? I love football although I am a gunner

Did they ask for any additional proof of bona fide relationship? Did they mention FBI name check (it could be that)...
Nope, nothing at all. He didn't even look at our evidence at all. It seemed like he had made up his mind on his decision before he even saw us.

hello vjers,i had my aos interview on the 26th and we were told by the interviewer that he wasn't totally decided on our case and that he wasn't going to approve or deny the application.when we asked him how long it could take for him to come to a decision,he told us that it could take as much as 6 months to a year.has anyone gone through such a scenario before and what happened afterwards.your replies would be very much appreciated.

Man! I thought ours was bad!
You had it much worse. Did your wife adjust status for either of the other 2 husbands? That might have been SOME of why the officer said what he did, but I agree, if what you say is true, some of it is simply racist. I had adjusted status (but not did visa) for my ex, and 1/3 of our interview was about my previous relationship...I too got upset because I don't like to even think about him, let alone discuss him in front of my current husband.
I hope your investigation goes fast. Not sure if an immigration atty or congress person can help you or not. Maybe others with more experience will give you advice.
My wife hadn't even heard of a K1 visa until we met and never adjusted status for any of her exes and that is what is so annoying because there was no genuine reason on God's earth to hold on to our approval.

Hey everyone,I had my AOS interview on the 26th in Juneau,Alaska and it went horribly wrong and it was so annoying and confusing. The interviewer started by making us take an oath and after the usual questions about where and when we meet and stuff like that, he started asking my wife how come she has been married twice before and also asked her about her 2 previous marriages and why has she always been married to people of colour and not someone who was white like she is(i am an african from nigeria). He also made the statement that he has no access to the USCIS website and therefore could not stamp my passport and later changed the topic to me being nigerian and asking my wife if she is aware of nigerian scams and that once he approves me,he can't change it anymore and therefore he is keeping the approval pending for sometime for more investigation which he said can take up to a year after which if we haven't gotten a decison from USCIS we can file a complaint at a court. He then said if we have no questions we can leave and when we said doesn't he want to look at all the evidence we brought with us,he said no. I feel so annoyed right now and my wife and I were really down but we cheered each other up and we have faith in God and He knows best.

Hi everyone, I would like to know if it is possible for someone who came here on a K1 to take a GED exam and how does one go about it if it can be done. I would also like to know if anyone who filed for EAD and AOS as early as May 4th of this year have gotten their EAD in the mail? Thank you people

Hello,
My hubby was a student in Europe for a year (on a student visa) and was able to have his interview there for his fiancee visa. As long as your SO has a visa there and claims residency in India...it should not be any problem. We had no problems and we were blessed....quicker interview time and it was approved w/ no problems. I wish you the best
Crystal
As long as your fiance is in India legally, you guys can apply for the K1 visa there and can also make use of a co-sponsor.

Please I would like to know the answers to this questions. Has anyone been ever given their EAD during their AOS interview and how long after your AOS interview do you get your greencard in the mail? Thank you

pls i would like to know if it is possible to get your ead and gc at the same time and do you have to do 2 seperate biometrics for your ead and gc?thank you

Like KarenCee said if it's been past 91 days check into it. But it seems like the majority on here get their EAD within 90 days, so count out your 90 days and assume toward the end of them you'll get your card. USCIS's timelines don't seem to mean much.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to reply. We are really glad, my 90 days isn't up yet but I always check the processing times just to have an idea of when it will be my turn to get an EAD. I will just call them after my 90 days are up. Thank you all.

Can anyone please explain to us what is really wrong with USCIS? My wife and I checked the process times for my EAD today and we found out that it had gone back by 2-3 months. Are they trying to mess with people's mind or the are that messed up? Please someone should enlighten us before I lose it. Thanks

Your story is the most moving story I have ever been blessed to read on VJ. It brought me to my knees after reading it and I gave glory and praises to God because that was such a wonderful story. My faith has been renewed and strenghtened after this encounter and I want to congratulate you and your hubby in advance. May God be with you all during the remainder of the journey and beyond. Amen

Hello Everyone. Hope everyone's journey has been coming along okay. I would like to know what is the correct information on the transit visa situation. I want my fiance to fly KLM from Lagos with a stopover in Amsterdam. Now with the K-1 Visa do we need a Transit Visa or not? I read somewhere where someone needed a transit visa. Can someone tell me if we need this or not? Thank you in advance for your replies.
I cam to the US on a K1 visa through KLM and I was told at the KLM office in Lagos that I didn't need a transit visa and it was true. I wasn't asked for it in Amsterdam and everything went smoothly. I hope this reply helps. Bye

biometrics dates has very little to do with the processing/approval of your EAD. MSC typically takes between 80-100 days to process and your biometrics appointment could fall anywhere in that timeframe. Our inital EAD was approved by the time we got our biometrics appointment due to ASC backlog. try focusing on the wait times for EAD vs, gaging based on biometrics time.
Thank you very much, I am really grateful. Bye

Hi everyone,
I wanted to ask if anyone has an idea of how long it "usually" takes to get your EAD after you have done your biometrics. I know the time varies from each applicant but I just wanted a rough estimate. Thanks a lot and your replies are all appreciated. Charles

Read this:
http://www.visajourney.com/faq/k1k2visa-aos.html
Oh and ignore the "strong" warnings about having to file AOS before your K-1 visa expires, you don't have to. Someone should update that FAQ.
thanks a lot, that was a really quick reply. we appreciate it.

Finally we were approved on 02/07/07 and we are living together in the U.S!!!! We want to thank everyone on this website especially the sub-saharan section because you have all been so wonderful with your answers and to all those yet to get their approvals, you all will by God's grace. We had no problems at all at our interview and most of the evidence was not even looked at except for the photos and some emails. The interviewer was nice and friendly and I must have spent all of 5 mins with him although I waited for hours before I was called for my interview. Thank you everyone once again.

Well everyone I am back from Lagos and here to tell you that we had a tough time.
We went to the consulate on 12/13/06 for the usual 7 am rush. My fiancee went in and I did not see him again until, 3:30 pm. When He came out he told me that He answered all of the questions no prolem but that the interviewer was not convinced. They wanted evidence that we indeed had been together since 2004. We were asked to return with eveidence on any Friday except for a designated few that the consulate would be closed. We retuned that very Friday on 12/15/06. They still would not let me in with him. So I waited. This time the same interviewer saw him and informed him that he would see him last. Another LONG day. He did indeed see him last, Justice produced the evidence that was requested answered more questions, then the interviewer told him that, He wanted to interview me but there was not enough time that day, we would have to come back again. This time 12/19/06 at 10am. We were there for the appointment but we still had to wait. This time a Nigerian man came out and called us, he took me up first, I could not help but notice that his ofice was in the Fraud Investigation Unit. I then asked him if there was a problem, no problem he said we just want to make sure this is not a Green Card Wedding. He detained me and questioned me for an hour. But He was convinced, I could tell, he said that he would take me back down to wait while he interviewed Justice. He kept Justice for 45 minutes, they both came down with smiles and I was told not to worry anymore, he would get his Visa, but not in time to come home with me. I am home, Justice is in Nigeria, we are waiting for the consulate to contact him. We were told when it is time for the Visa to be issued they would contact him. We are waiting.
I just want to say that we gave them NO REASON for them to think that we are not a REAL couple, I have been to Nigeria 3 times now, we had pictures, we had emails, we had plenty of evidence, we were very organized. For anyone who has questions or would like more details I will share further with you if you PM me.
I am really sad and sorry to hear what you had to go through at the lagos embassy and i agree that if you had not been present for the interview,it might have been a really different and negative outcome.I hope your fiance is contacted and issued his visa soon and all goes well.I want you to know that it is better late than never and although you couldn't go back home with him,at least you guys weren't denied which would have been terrible.I will be having my interview soon and my fiancee will be coming over and i hope we have it easier than you guys did.I agree with what you said about Nigerians being portrayed in a bad light and this makes some of the interviewers biased towards us which is wrong but what can one do?Take care, keep praying and have faith in God.Our prayers and thoughts are with you

Hi,I would advise him to get another one because the police reports are only valid for 3 months. I am sure of this as long as he is having his interview in Lagos which was where I had mine. Goodluck
