I entered the US on H1B and am also married to aUSC. We sublmitted our application in June and received the green card in August. The forms we used were:
I-485
G-325A
I-693
I-864
-plus supporting documents
I-130 with G-325A for each person- plus supporting documents
I-131 -travel document
I-765 -Work Authorization - We only did the last two because my H1b was expiring in jan. 2007 and didn't know the green card process was going to go so quick.
Good Luck!

I can understand what you are feeling. The whole process seems so overwhelming but it is really not too bad and with the support of this site it will make the experience alot easier. I actullay used an online site to fill out my forms and had an attorney form that site look over the forms and attach a form G28. The fee was very reasonable (300-500 depending if havinga lawyer review) I think knowing what I know from this site I could have filled the forms out by myself and been fine. The one thing with the online forms they prompt and guideyou through every step of filliing out the forms plus provide you with all document to send with each form and how to prepare to send the entire package. My whole process was about 2 1/2 months. Good Luck!!

My wife is from the Philippines and just arrived to USA on k-3 visa. My question is, do we drop her last name or her middle name when using her now married name. Thanks for all the help.
I kept both my middle and maiden names and hyphenated to add my husbands lastname. I think this is a personal choice. My husband is originally from philippines ( hecame to US when he was 8, he is a USC)

I just checked the mail and my permanent green card was there! I guess I can relax for a few years until we apply for citizenship.
Thanks to everyone on this forum

My green card was ordered September 5th. Does anyone know how long it will approx. take from this point to receive the card. I am going crazy checking the mail. lol.
Another thing I received a welcome notice last week and it stated that the origianl were sent to our attorney. I prepared and mailed our forms but had an attorney reviwew and attach the Form G28. Is this common that they send the origianl welcome notices to the attorney?? They wouldn't mail the green card their would they??? ( I know I am getting paranoid lol) I think this process does that to you.

Hi, our Adjustment of Status package was sent out at the end of June. We have something called an Initial Interview next week. This isn't the actual Adjustment of Status/Green Card interview is it? If so, why do we have ours so soon and why is it before I have received Employment Authorization?
Yes, that is the real thing! We mailed our packet in the middle of June and already have had interview and been approved. We never received EAD or AP, as the interview came so quickly. Good Luck with the Interview.

Congrats!!! It sounds like you had a great IO! I know we were way overpreapared and our whole process was only 20-25 minutes with wait time and hardly any questions were asked. A few of our joint documents were kept but our process was very straightforward, although our IO have a very serious tone (I think it is just part of their job).

Congrats!!!
You may find it much quicker than a month. We were approved August 30th and received a Welcome letter at interview, an offical letter came yesterday in the mail and we had a status change yesterday saying our 10 year green card (PRC) has been ordered. This all happened within a week. I hope you get quickly!

We just had our interview in southern california and they did not allow camera phones. I think I would jsut leave leave them home. It sounds like you are good and preapred Addie. Best of Luck!
-
YES, definitely bring copies of what you are bringing to USCIS. During our interview they asked to keep copies of some of the joint documents. We prepared a binder and had copied of everything in case they wanted to kepe anything. I guess it is better to be over preapred.
Best of Luck!

Hi! I'm new here, and i have a few questions regarding my case.
I will be having my AOS interview next month.
1.) I made some mistakes when I signed all the paperworks... I saw 2 mistakes on my G325A... is there any way I can correct them before my interview? will it affect the decision of the immigration officer?
Mistakes- Father's Birthdate should've been Feb 2, 1958 and I saw Feb. 8, 1945
- Month and Year I lived in Arizona should've been 04-2006 to 06-2006, and I saw 03-2003 to 06-2006
2.) I went to a civil surgeon here in California, and he wanted me to take another Xray, and I explained it's not necessary, and showed him the page from USCIS' website. He only performed 2 steps... 1.) Blood test for HIV and Syphillis; 2.) Vaccination-TD.
I have a question, I had my medical examination in the Philippines(st.lukes hospital) and I told them I don't have any information about my vaccination history... so the nurse decided to give 2 vaccinations: MMR(1st shot), and VARICELLA(1st shot). She told me to complete the DOSE #2 when I get here. (DOSE 2 SHOULD BE 4 TO 8 WEEKS FROM DOSE #1).
What do I need to do? because I did not follow having the DOSE #2 because my husband and I were too busy with everything and we forgot to have it done! Do I need to get DOSE #1 again??? Is this really necessary???
Thank you. I hope you won't get tired of my long story... hehehe *blushes*
We had a few minor errors on our applciation as I was on H1B and didn't recall my last date of entry as I am from Canada and they don't always give you a stamp or new I-94. I could remember the month but not date I traveled and so on the application wrote the date on last I-94 I had. The IO ask this question at interview I explained and she didn't seem concerned just corrected and wrote the motnth/year traveled in pen since I didn't know date. She said that was common for Candians. I also put port of entry as LAX but should have been Toronto as I cleared customs at the Toronto airport. oops lol (this was also corrected by IO in pen). I think honest mistakes like that are not a concern. (to think I had an attorney too lol) I had no RFE's and was apporved at interview. I think the best thing is not to bring light to anything but when they ask you anyhting be honest and expalin the situation or mistake.
Best of luck!

$395.00 is the total payment, doesn't your bank give you copies of cleared checks wouldn't that be sufficeint as a receipt ?
I agree! We just checked or online banking to see that our checks were cashed.

The IO will ask for origianl documents sent with applications to verifythe copies we sent in with our applications . The IO we had just ask for our origianl passports, BC, Marriage certifiacte, social securiy cards (we both had them) and origianl copies of supporting documents to prove we were living together ( they kept copies of our joint health and car ins., purchase of new car and apt. lease) I think you will be fine if you bring origianl documents of all ID and supporting evidence. I have a list prepared for our interview (if you are interested I can post it.) I had our documents color coded, tabbed in a binder and made an additonal copy for USCIS to keep.
I wish you the best of luck!

Good Luck! We were nervous for ours too, however, the whole process with wait time was about 20-25 minutes. Just be honest and yourself! I am sure you will be fine. Let us know how the interview goes.

Hi all,
The end of September we will have our "Inital Interview" for AOS.
I have read that most interviews go pretty smooth if you bring all that they ask for. But my wife and our two sons from Brasil do not know very good English, in fact very poor at speaking English, so I will be present to help translate at the very least. They are taking ESL classes.
Another thing, I have not added my wife to our bank account / property, the only reason, just to busy. Is this important to do? She does not have a SS # yet so I am wondering (I should just call the bank) if she really needs this to be on my Bank Accounts, ect. We got married before we had tried to file for this and they rejected us because her new name does not match her I-94 even though we had certified Marriage certs. - but that is another story. Is it not enough that we are married, together, and that all of our other docs are correct? If needed I will scramble and get all to include her name. Thanks for any Ideas/ comments that you might have
I agree with others who have replied, you can not translate for the perosn you are sponsoring. You need to provide a professioanl translator as far as I understand.

Thanks everyone!
I just received an update from USICS online. It basicaly says your I-485 has been aproved and a welcome letter has been mailed. Does thiss mean my green card is mailed or is just another letter liked I received yesterday at the Interview?? or could this be the actual card:)
-
We arrived at 12:30 for our 1:00 interview and were taken at 12:45.
The interviewer seemed very serious. She swore us in and asked for origianl documents of passports, BC, etc. and then tore out my I-94. She then asked to provide documents that showed joint status. We had a huge binder prepared for them to keep. She seemed glad that we had made copies for them. She kept copies of joint helath, car insurance, car loan documents and lease for apt. She then asked why we waited so long to file as we have been married 2 years. I informed her I was on H1B and not in a hurry and really wanted to get all this info preapred well. She then asked us to wait in waiting area, Within 10 minutes I hear my name callrd by front desk lady. She hands me a letter ............. CONGRATULATIONS! YOUR APPLICATION TO ADJUST STATUS HAS BEEN APPROVED. A PERMANENT CARD WILL BE MAILED WITHIN 90 DAYS . The whole process with wait time was abot 25 mintues.
Thanks for all the help everboby has provided. This forum is great!!

Thanks for the responses. I will let you allknow how the interview goes Wednesday. Thanks to everyone on this board for the help in preparing for the interview.

We have our interview this Wednesday ( August 30th) We think we have finally completed our packets to bring to the interview. I have the origianl copy in a binder using photo/ document sleeves, colored coded and tabbed, as well as, providing photo copies of eveything in an additional binder in case USICS would like to keep anything. Please, let us know if there is anything else we should add to your attached list. Thanks in advance:)

Hi,
I just had a couple of touches shortly after biometrics and then the interview letter came within a couple of weeks. I received no updates online that the letter was sent. I would not worry about the LUD or online status since many have experienced inaccuracies with the system.
Best of Luck!

Yes, it sounds like you are aproved. An infopass appointment is a good idea to clarify the situation.
I think you should be celebrating as it sounds like very good news

The system is not currently working properly. Many people with new cases are being told by the systems their case doesn't exist (like us) so I'm sure this glitch rolls over to all cases that should have been updated.
I agree!! My online status has not changed in quite awhile and I have an interview in a couple of weeks.
I figured there must be a glich in the system.
Can I pay with my personal check?
in Adjustment of Status (Green Card) from K1 and K3 Family Based Visas

We paid by personal cheque and sent differnt cheques for each application ie. I485- I130, I31 etc.
