Hi guys! We have our interview scheduled and have two questions. For the interview, it says to bring the I864 form. Can we bring the same form but signed again and with a different signed date? We forgot to make a copy of the one we sent to the NVC.
Also, we sent to the NVC 2015, 2016, 2017, tax transcripts and W2’s. Should we only bring those to the interview? We already filed 2018 but don’t have the transcript.
Thank you.

FILE A TAX EXTENSION! It's super simple if you do it over Turbo Tax. If not, go to the IRS website and search it. I filed an extension and the stress is off my shoulders in trying to get that done on top of the million things we have to do with our situation.
Good Luck!
Thank you! We already filed everything with NVC and have an interview date. We were confused with what tax years to submit.

Consular Officer (the person who interviews you at the embassy/consulate and makes the visa decision).
Thank you !!

That member is doing Adjustment of Status (AOS) in the US. That's handled by USCIS directly.
The OP and you are doing consular processing for an immigrant visa. This goes USCIS -> NVC -> embassy. NVC issues checklists. The embassy issues a 221(g) for additional documents. Only USCIS issues RFEs.
The 2018 taxes aren't due until tax day (April 15th). Until then, 2017 taxes are fine. The CO may request to see them after tax day, though.
I personally do not suggest sending a W-2 without a matching tax return copy/transcript. Some people have received a checklist for doing this. YMMV.
Thank you very much. What do you mean by “CO”?

I think you are confused. We are filing for an spouse visa.
-
He will file them as soon as possible. The problem is we won’t get the transcript until April. What can we do in this case?
-
Hello everyone! We are gathering the papers for the AOS package. Unfortunately my husband still hasn’t filled last year’s taxes because he hasn’t had time yet. We are using the I864-EZ form. Now we are wondering what to do, should we just send the 2015, 2016 and 2017 tax transcripts? We also can send the W2’s for all years including 2018. I am worried this is going to delay the process because we will have to wait until April to get the transcripts for 2018.
Any advice? Thank you.!

So you won;t be able to move till after December 2017 or 2018?
If 2017, no problem- your interview may not be till after anyways, and even if the interview is soon, you have 6 months to use the visa. If 2018, I agree with the others, delay now, at NVC stage. While you could get the visa and travel for a day to the USA, if you stay out another year after, loss of the greencard is a very real concern.

about delaying the process, the last email we received says this:
"U.S. law requires immigrant visa applicants to apply for a visa within one year of availability. Section
203(g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) requires the U.S. Department of State to terminate
the visa application of anyone who fails to apply for an immigrant visa within one year after notification
that a visa number is available. Therefore, if you do not respond to notices from the National Visa
Center within one year you risk termination of your petition under this law and could lose the benefits of
that petition, such as your priority date. To avoid termination of your visa application, make sure you
contact NVC at least once a year."what does it mean with the "visa number" available? is it the NVC case number?
Thank you everyone for your answers!!

So if it does not go well what happens?
If it does not go well, that means I could go to the US for the whole 2018 thanks to the visa of course. And I would have to leave before the year finishes. But if this happens, I could get the re-entry permit another user suggested.

When are you looking to make the big move?
I am not sure yet. It all depends on school and one exam I have to do in December 😩 So, holding off could be risky if things don't work out with school or continuing with the process could be too if school goes well. It's complicated.

Thank you both! Do you know if there is a required time to stay after the first entrance before leaving the country?
-
Hi!
So, we are on the NVC stage now. Gathering the papers we need to send. But, something happened with me (the beneficiary) related to school and I won't be able to travel next year and stay. I could travel after my visa is issued and before it expires but only stay for like 2 days and then I have to come back.
What do I do in this case? I am afraid they will take away my green card for not staying and living in the US.
Thank you!

I understand now. Thank you both!

Exactly right! It's the same process for both - if only you are applying you just fill in the spaces on the application that apply to you. If other members are immigrating with you - you fill them in too.
We are doing CR1, only I am immigrating. So when it* says "you" they are talking to me (the beneficiary)?
-
Hi guys! I have question, the Department of State website says
"After you collect your financial forms and supporting financial evidence, you and each family member immigrating with you to the United States should collect the civil documents that are required to support your visa application." And it keeps talking about "You and each family member immigrating with you...." or "you..."
But the wiki says that this is the beneficiary package. What should we do?
thank you!

Hi! We are are still not on the interview step, but I was thinking to start getting the vaccinnes if I need some of them. I read there are two approved doctors for Costa Rica. Which one did you choose? How was the appointment? Would you recommend him? Thank you!
Edit: I apologize. I thought I was writing on my country forum and I cant find how to erase this post.

if you left your email back then when you called, then yes it's normal and if not you're lucky because then they must have taken it from your file, because you need the DS261 to give your email for further correspondence.
We didn't give them any email when we called

Guys we just received our case number and IIN through email! We werent really expecting that at all. We called Wednesday and they said to call back again next week. We received two emails one directed to the petitioner and beneficiary with the numbers, some instructions and a document cover sheet with checkboxes. Is this common?

because sometimes it takes days to get the letter while you could already have a case number and an invoice number when you call to start doing what you need to be doing for the NVC process. For example I was told to call back next week then they might already have my case nummer assigned and then the letter will follow. in the meantime if I get the case number and invoice number I can do the payment etc.
oh!! okay! I understand now, is to save time. Thank you!!

Hey guys! On the wiki for the NVC process on the Step 1 it says to call like every two weeks to ask for a case number but the NVC website and the NOA2 say to wait around 6 weeks before contacting the NVC and if they havent contact us, to email them. Why is that recommended in the wiki?
-
11 minutes ago, Yeonin said:
can be by phone and it should come by mail as wel as a formal notice.
thank you! So why is that on the wiki they recommend to be calling?
-
Hi guys! We are confused. If you have your case number, how did you get it? By mail or did you call?

Hi! You can find the specific information for the interview here
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/SNJ_San-Jose.html
And medical exam here
https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Supplements/Supplements_by_Post/SNJ_San-Jose.html#medical_exam_instructions
You can choose one of the labs and doctors indicated there. These are not done at the Embassy. You have to go to a lab and a doctors office, both located in San José.
