  1. Hello msscarlette!

I am a nurse and came to the US on a K1 visa about a year ago. Because I had to pass NCLEX and TOEFL, I only got my license in July. After getting my license I got BLS certified and created my resume (make sure its formatted in US style). Make sure you tailor your resume and cover letter to each application. Do a little research about ATS.. I used JobScan to make sure my resume was getting through ATS.

After about a month of applying for jobs (about 70 applications) I got a job in a Community Hospital 10 minutes away from where I live.

So I suggest tailoring your resume and cover letter, wearing a suit to interviews, bring portfolios (I'm a new grad and mine included resume, list of clinical rotations with hours and locations, cover letter, 3 letters of recommendation, copy of license and copy of BLS card), know a lot about the institution and prepare your answers and examples to the most common interview questions.

About the SSN, I got it with my passport and I-94.. I only received it after 2-3 months because my name was too long. Got my drivers license after getting my EAD but that depends on the state. I suggest you check out what the Maryland DMV says about that on their website.

Hope this helped and good luck!

    Guyyyzzzz!!!

We got approved on the spot about 5mins ago!!

    Yaaaaay!!!!

The interview was very easy! We got a lady and at first we thought oh god but it turned out that she was a married Lesbian officer which was very good for us! She seemed to enjoy our case very much! She didn't want to see that much evidence at all. She only took our joint tax return and bank account and that was it.

I want to thank you guys for helping us out! You guys are the bomb!

Good luck to everyone who is still waiting on their approval, interview, etc! You can do this! Just have faith and believe in yourself!

Thank you guys once again and all the luck in this world to all of you!

    xoxo

    Congratulations! :D:D

We got caught up in the whole family life stuff, so we stopped actively monitoring the Case status.

She checked her email today, and had a message from USCIS on 03-31-2017.

I-485 has been approved, Now we are just waiting for the card to be produced. We are very happy that we did not have to do an interview, everything has been such smooth sailing during this entire process.

    That's great! Congrats 😀

Thank you for the answers guys, I am very glad, I know that this depends from case to case but how roughly we are looking to spend with whole process? 2k, 5k? How much? Once again thank you for everything.

Hello! Like others said, you don't need an attorney :)

As far as how much you will spend, you will need to pay the filing fees as everyone else but you need to go to Paris for the interview, so that's going to add to the costs :/

I just went through the entire process last year so if you need anything you can PM me :)

    Thanks for the details.

Did you guys have myUSPS set up and, if so, did you get notice that it was on its way at any point?

I couldn't get myUSPS because my identity couldn't be verified..

My card was mailed on February 22th and I got it in the mail on the 24th.. But I think that it can be faster or slower considering where you live and how efficient the post office is

It's really exciting to see people with dates in mid-late November getting approved. Has your I-485 status changed at all? I'm worried (maybe for no reason) that mine hasn't even gone to "ready to schedule" yet.

Thank you! :D The I-485 status didn't change, it still says "fingerprint fee was received", I don't think there's any reason to worry :)

Haha I am glad you remembered that! lol and that was a long drive for 5 min. Glad to see you happy now :)

I just checked and everything looks the same :( BOOOORINGGG haha

Hahaha me too. They received it in Nov 21st. But I think we all are going to get it in March. I cannot wait.

Specially after realizing that my health insurance is SO EXPENSIVE. I am in shock and I can't believe it. We were going to save up for our next trip, but $250 every month for health insurance will take all of our money :( I am heartbroken. *sorry for venting with you guys, I am shocked*

Is that the average price for health insurance? We are using his work health plan

Our health insurance is $530 a month and it was the cheapest plan available :/ I come from a country where I didn't need insurance and had free health care so its really hard to have to pay this much a month :/

  8. I can now confirm that there is no update in the USCIS web page after they send the biometrics letter!!! :) :) :)

I just got mines :') it says Notice Date: 12/17/2016. (online status didn't change)

The appointment is Jan 6th and because is Friday, hubby will have to skip work that day.

I am really happy about it, but still it doesn't mean that I can´t get an RFE later on so I will wait and see what happens.

In the letter says that Cellphones are not allowed. Has somebody walked in with a phone?

I had my biometrics appointment today and they were very strict with phones. They made people show that theire phones were turned off.

While waiting to get the biometrics taken, a man was using his phone and he was sent to security and had to go back to the beggining of the line (a long one).

So I guess it depends on where you have your biometrics taken :)
