  1. Good Evening All,

It has been a while since I have logged on. My wife (US Citizen) is petitioning her mother. Her mother's I-130 got approved, and we were given the NVC Case Number. I am assisting my wife with the Affidavit of Support. I am not sure what category I fall in Joint Sponsor or Household Member. My wife does not make enough so we will be using my income to assist in the Sponsoring. I have read online and I have gotten different reasons, on whether to be filing the I-864 or the I-864A. Can anyone assist? Thanks as always

  2. Good Evening All,

Hope all is well, the time has come finally after 5 months of waiting our interview is scheduled in less then a month. I was hoping if anyone, who has gone through this interview would be able to give me some pointers. I am more concern on what if anything I should bring, besides the medical records, the passport pictures, original birth/marriage certs, etc. All the documentation I sent to the NVC were originals. Is it a good Idea to take another set of documents the day of the interview, I will have my wife obtain originals of all docs in Colombia. With Pictures I'm thinking a good 200 lol.. is this too many..lol On a serious note the only concern I have is..we are in the middle of having her last name changed. The documentation I have submitted are with my last name. If my wife is unable to have her last name change will this cause any issues? Once again thanks for all your help!

  3. Good Evening all,

So I called the automated number, and it said my case was completed. So I called and spoke to an agent, and they explained to me that they are awaiting for a an appointment date to be assigned in order to send the documentation to the Embassy. They stated I will receive an email. It's been a week, I would like to know if there is anything I can do to be proactive. Any response will be greatly appreciated.

  6. Hello

Our case is currently at NVC. We were expecting to get a case complete this week, but instead got a RFE. The issue seems to be the birth and divorce certificates. The certificates that are from Japan are all on one paper, they are not separated. We sent the original in along with English translations of both the Birth and Divorce.

The NVC sent us a letter stating we need to send the originals in of the Birth and Divorce certificate. We did this! I was told by the NVC operator that the certificates need to be from a certain place (Honseki) and document (Koseki) in Japan so they will be accepted by the NVC. I explained to the operator that I verified through my wife that they are in fact from this place and that everything should be fine. I don't know what they want me to get and I told them this is all I can get. I also worry now about the English translation for these since I may need to get new ones if I need to send these certificates again and they are the same thing according to my wife! We got the original English translations at the Japanese embassy in San Francisco when my wife was visiting here.

Can I use the old certified translations that were already sent to NVC with the first original certificate since they look the same? I worry about the dates and that it may not be acceptable. My wife said there is no place to get English translations of the new certificates that she knows of other then at the US embassy in Tokyo and she lives 2 hours away by plane. Any help with this matter would be appreciated. Maybe other VJ members who have dealt with or are dealing with their spouses in Japan would have more knowledge on this.

    Thanks!

RFE for originals but the NVC stated either originals or Certified Copies.

  7. Good Morning

Hopefully my last questions regarding DS 230. LOL. It's in regards to my wife's DS 230. I was previously married should I include my divorce certificate? Im thinking the supporting docs only pertain to her?

So once completes my wife's DS 230 package would look like this

    Ds 230

    2 passport pics

copy of valid passport biographic data page

    birth certificate + translation

    marriage certificate + translation

    police certificate

For my son's DS 230, should I include our marriage certificate

So Once completed my son's DS 230 package would look like this:

    Ds 230

    2 passport pics

copy of valid passport biographic data page

    birth certificate + translation

    marriage certificate + translation ???

    No police certificate --( MINOR)

I think I have everything in order if there is something I may be missing any response will be greatly appreciated

thanks in advance for your help

  8. Good Morning all

I'm filling out the DS 230 for My wife and son. In regards to my wife's DS 230 question #31a "Person(s) named in 14 and 29 who will accompany you to the US now". On her form I am listed in Question #14 (Spouse) and my son is listed in #29 so I know I would have to list both our names in #31a?

On the other hand on my son's DS 230 question #14 I will add N/A for "No Spouse" and in question #29 N/A "No Child". So that would mean that question #31a would be blank?? This confuses me because in reality he will fly back with me and my wife. Please Help

  9. Good Evening All,

I am currently completing the DS-230, My wife has lived in the same City, Province, Country since she was 16. The only difference is that she's had a different address within the same city. Should I just list it under one line.... for example: City ---- Province ----Country From: April 1994 To: Present? Please help my confusion..lol

  10. Good Evening All,

I am ready to send the DS-230 with all the supporting documentation. Once I have completed this what happens from there? I'm thinking it's awaiting for the package to arrive at the Consulate. Then it would be setting up the appointment for the medical exam and then the interview? Don't know if I am missing any details. Can someone share their experience. I greatly appreciate it.

  11. Good Morning All,

I am ready to send the required I-864 form with all supporting docs. My question is since I am filing for my wife and son will I have to submit two separate I-864 Forms. What has me confused is that I filed two separate I-130s, which makes me believe I would have to file two I-864s but when making a payment it was just one for $70. Which the NVC mention would cover both forms. Can someone share their advice. I would really appreciate it. Thanks

  13. Hello All,

I Hope someone can shed some light on my question. I filed an I-130 2 years ago and I decided to terminate the petition (due to divorce). Which was terminated last year. Will I have problems with the USCIS or the NVC if I in the near future submit another petition? If anything how can I get in touch with someone at the USCIS? I get stuck at the automated system. I know a while back there was a way to bypass the system to speak to someone. If someone can provide that information. It will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  14. Good Morning All,

Hope everyone is doing well.. My question is regarding payments for the CR-1 Visa Process. I am submitting ppwk for my wife and my step-daughter. Are there separate payments required (I-864 bill and IV Bill etc)? Couple of weeks ago I was sent an RFE for my step-daughter which I am in the middle of providing additional evidence. I'm not to sure when her I-130 is approved will I have to send additional payments? Thanks once again

  15. Hello All,

I am kind of confused on what to do. My Wife's I-130 was approved, a case number was assigned and I just sent the DS-3032 and the I-864 bill payment, But My Step-Childs I-130 was not approved, I am in the middle of obtaining the addt'l documentation that is being requested. My question is should I just go ahead as planned with my wife petition? Or should I hold on until my step-daughter's I-130 is approved? I don't know whether my step-daughter's case will link up with my wife's case... I'm not sure how the process work but I know at the end there should be only one interview.. Any info is greatley appreciated.
