  1. Rubbish (as pointed out before). The cops need some money. Call the local constable to the side and ask him (usually a him) what it will take to get it done. Otherwise, you can also go to a travel agent and these agents usually have connections to get these clearances done.

    Good luck,

    KP

My fiancee went to get her police certificate and was told they couldnt issue her one because she lived in a rented flat (apartment). Surely this cannot be true, even in America many people do not own a house. Has anyone else heard of this?
  2. twood2k,

I can really empathize with your situation -- in general, the best bet is for you to go out to see your family.

    Regards,

    KP

My wife and I are waiting on the K-3 or I-130 which ever comes first but its looking like we wont be together by christmas.

I really want to spent time with me wife and new 4 month old daughter.. is there anyway she can come over, like a vacation visa or something? I guess what im really asking is if the K-3/I-130 would cause problems with her applying for a visa to visit?

  3. Yes, and (as it has been pointed out), wait until you get the interview date. The PCC has a certain validy period.

    KP

I have read for India, you will need 2 police clearances. 1 from the office that issued the Indian passport and the other from the local police where the fiancee lives. Check the website of the embassy you will be going thru.
  4. Santosh,

Chennai is prety good with accommodating dates -- sudhirbathija was able to call them and get them to schedule an interview 2 weeks away (and he had called after the interview dates had been published). Ask your wife is she can possible call (and you can ping them by email and phone also).

    Good luck.

    KP

I got a response from Chennai last night, they only received the electronic version. I was hoping that Chennai would get the package before the 10th of this month because, that's when they post interview dates for the following month.
  5. Clare -- welcome to the forum. I konw what you mean -- I was also very down before I stumbled into VisaJourney. Read the pinned topic (the first one) to get general information. Then go to the Immigration Timelines tab to get an idea of what is taking how long.

You did the right thing -- my K3 came in faster than my CR1 (and is still faster in general). Just dig in for the long haul (a few months) and keep your chin up. This water torture WILL end :-) Feb/March of 2007 is an aspirational date, but very possible...

    Good luck...

    Hi Guys

Apologies for asking questions that have already been asked, but here goes..

Jody, my husband of 2 1/2 years, and I were married in USVI (St Thomas). He originally had visa to live here (UK) however we have decided to move me to USA (he has been back working in Orlando for 10 months).

We originally started our application with the I130 08/17/2006 (Texas) and have had receipt. We have also sent an I129F 2 weeks ago in the hope of getting a K3 visa quicker...

    so my questions are

    1. Have we done the right thing as from reading the polls K3's are taking longer?

    2. How long do you think it will take to get to the next stage - I was hoping that I may be looking at getting to USA early New Year - do you think this is likely?

    3. Any advice for dealing with US Embassy in London when I eventually end up there much appreciated...

Sorry if this has all been written before...I was gobsmacked how complicated this all is as when Jody came to UK we collected soem documents, sent his visa to New York and his Visa was returned within 3 weeks of application!

If you want point me in direction of other posts then that would be most welcome too....

PS thanks for the hope that the other messages have given me, I was feeling really down about all this until I found this forum :-)

    Clare xx

  6. Santosh -- relax -- don't worry. In the instructions, it says whether or not a copy is required. If it is required, then can your wife not get a photocopy made and take it with her? Go to the embassy website and you will be able to find out which copies are required.

    KP

I'm a U.S citizen currently living in the U.S, I'm the petitioner, I filed all the paper work with the NVC(I-864, DS230 PART 1, W-2, EMPLOYMENT ETC) The case jut got send to the embasy but I forGot to make copies of the I-864 and the ds 230, am I in trouble, does my wife need to take that when she goes for the inerview? This is the consulate in chennai, India. I'm very nervous.
  7. Ugh!!! So, as luck would have it, my wife is about to board a plane CONUS-bound in 36 hours and I (as her agent) get a letter from the US consulate from New Delhi stating that her CR-1 interview has been scheduled for October 12th. I HATE this :-)

Obviously the tickets have already been bought etc., so she is coming over.

My question is -- is it worth going back to India to get this CR-1 at this stage or is AOS still a better choice? I am totally confused and could use some suggestions either way.

    Thanks in Advance,

    KP

  8. My wife just went through the interview last week -- no mention of the NAO2 at the consulate. In the worst (unlikey) case, the visa will not be "rejected", but she will just have to get the copy of the NA02 from you and take it back to the embassy and will then be mailed/given the passport with the visa.

    Don't panic -- it's all good...

    Good luck,

    KP

My lady has her interview Monday (9/25) at the embassy in Managua, Nicaragua. However, I was looking at some posts and it seems like I was supposed to have given her the NOA2 that I received. The packet that she got from the embassy made no mention of this and I hadn't really seen anything on the matter on here (or maybe I did but overlooked it). I DIDN'T GIVE HER THE ORIGINAL OR A COPY!!! How much of a negative effect is this going to have on her chances of getting the visa?

Ohhhhh man!!!! I would really hate for her to get rejected because of my STUPID overlooked mistake. If indeed she does need the NOA2 does anyone have any suggestions? It is too late to send it to her. Will a copy suffice? I guess I can scan it and email it to her and have her print it out.

  9. Wifey finally got her passport with the visa :-).:dance: She had asked the VFS office to hold it for her but they couriered it to her local address in Gurgaon anyway. She was able to go to the local Blue Dot courier service and get it from them. They wanted a photo id, so she talked them into opening up the package and showed them the passport as a photo id :D

Just in case someone ran into this ID problem...

    ... still cleaning the house,

    KP

    Congratulations !!!!!

    C'mon Delhi.. keep 'em coming !!!!!! :P

  10. Yes -- my wife had taken a draft for Rs. 4800 (the $100 equivalent).

    Good luck,

    KP

I believe the visa fee is $100 (currently Rs 4800).

    Hello fellow VJers,

There's been a confusion on how much we have to pay in India prior to our K3 interview. Would someone please tell me what needs to be paid besides the 337 rs. courier fee. I know kpathak or timesnap who were recently approved would know....any help please. Thanks!

  11. A word of caution -- don't close off your options yet -- the way NVC was processing my I-130, I thought it would beat the K3, but then it all came to a griding halt. My wife just cleared her K3 interview this week.

    Good luck,

    KP

Sorry to ask, because this question has come up so many times before. We're waiting for a K3 interview in Montreal, and just received the Affidavit of Support Bill for I-130. How do I let them know we'll Adjust Status once he gets here on K3?
  12. Jersey Girl -- the wifey gets here next Thursday and the cleaning crew gets in on Tuesday (while I am at work and the kids are in school :-). I have told the kids -- don't even use the bathroom on Wednesday -- ask the neighbors if you can use theirs <ha! ha!> J/K.

    KP

Wow, very happy to hear your good news, kpathak. As for the cleaning, I'm married to a Portuguese fellow who's very particular. If he saw the way I've been living almost 6 months, he'd be horrified. But you and I are excused, because of all the preoccupation and stress. We may need professional cleaners at this point!
  13. Lori -- I would start a thread for people from mumbai -- there are too many inconsistencies. There is an old thread with people from mumbai also.

Venting is good -- that's why this forum is here -- I'd say fill out and send in extra stuff just to be comprehensive. The extra stuff was returned to my wife when she had gone for the interview -- no biggie.

    Good luck,

    KP

Has anyone else doing a K1 through Mumbai had this kind of situation? I would not doubt that if we all compared notes - each one was somewhat different especially when the web-site and the mailed instructions are clearly different!

I know to expect this kind of inconsistency, but still it is enough to drive you crazy!!

    Thanks for letting me VENT!!

    Lori

Lori -- even though it is CR1, you might want to glean some information from http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...dpost&p=211

    Good luck,

    KP

  14. Yup -- cleaning is right -- otherwise I can hear "naukrani se kyon nahi shaadi kar liya????"

They said that the visa will be delivered in a few days -- nothing more. THis VFS ####### is really a PITA.

    KP

Congratulations !!!!!!!! Im so happy for you both. Soon, she will be here. AND yeah Start cleanin' up the house Warna woh kahegi.... This is not what I came here for????? Just teasing ya :P

Did they say anything when she will have her visa in hand????

  15. Thanks for the best wishes everyone -- I guess it's the end of the bachelor life and it's time to clean up the house so that she won't go back on the very airplane she comes here on... :)

    KP
