  1. When asked "Have you ever overstayed a US visa?" I put, "no" in my already submitted form.

I was on a F1 visa in the States between Sept 2013 - June 2014 and stayed in the US until February. I went to an attorney at the time and he told me that if I'm not told to leave by school officials or any officials, do not leave the country and am thinking of going back to school then I can stay for the time my F1 is still in-status, so I wasn't out of status. I stayed from June to the following February.

Will I run into any issues with my DS-160 form, the fact that I said to the best of my knowledge it is accurate that I haven't overstayed?

I listed the exact dates of all of my US Travel in the DS-160, so I was being honest completely. If asked at the interview I will explain the situation.

    I'm panicking ATM.

  2. I don't see where it ask for a visa number as the DS-160 is for your K-1 visa that you are trying to attain. Under "reason for traveling" you would put that your traveling to the US to get married on a K-1 visa.

I am confused because of the question you stated "I put "DO NOT KNOW" on my DS-160 form under "VISA Number" for my F1 visa". Maybe F1 was a typo.

Ah, got it. I can see where the confusion is.

It says "Have you ever been issued a US Visa?", YES, "Date Last Visa Was Issued", "Visa #". So under the "Visa #" I put "DO NOT KNOW", as I cannot find my F1 visa number. I assume visitor visas don't count, I'm more likely to want to mention my F1, correct?

  3. OK, so I have been told that we can't schedule an interview until Packet 4 comes in from Montreal. However, online I have created an account on the US Consulate website and it is asking for my DS160 and case #, looks like I can schedule one once I fill that in - will it just be cancelled? Do we really have to wait until Packet 4 comes in?

Could I create an account and peak at the dates available?

  4. Hi,

I have received our NVC Case and Invoice number. We are about to receive our Packet 3 and we have it ready to be mailed out. I've heard we have to wait until we receive Packet 4 from Montreal, however I see on "ais.usvisa-info.com" that I can "Create An Applicant" with my case and DS-160 number. Am I eligible to book an interview at this time, and if I try will there be problems (delays, etc.)? Thanks.

  5. Hi,

We have received our case # from the NVC and it is being sent to the US Consulate in my country. What do we do next? I'm a little confused about whether we bring all of the next necessary documents to the interview or ship them?

I guess Packet 3 will tell us everything, right?

Usually does the Packet 3/4 get shipped to the Beneficiary or Petitioner?

    Thanks.

EDIT: Can I schedule the interview now, before we receive Packet 3?

  6. Hi!

So, we've received our NOA2 and tomorrow marks week 2 since that has happened, so I will be calling NVC I think.

Was wondering when is the earliest time I can schedule an interview (I'll be going to Montreal)?
I've heard it's when you receive the Packet 4, but also have heard it's when the NVC sends it off to your country's US Consulate.
And generally, how long should we expect from now until I can enter the US?

    Thanks in advance.

Assuming you have filed a K1, NVC must receive your case and issue a case number beofre you can schedule an interview. Once NVC forwards your case onto the embassy you can proceed with setting up for the interview.

    Got it.

On the K1 flow chart under the step "Case Forwarded by NVC to U.S. Embassy in your fiance(e)'s country" it says 1-4 weeks on one side and the other says DHL will deliver it within a week.

  8. Hello,

Simple and noob question. I'm wondering when is the earliest time one can book their US Consulate interview? I've heard it is after you receive your NOA2, however some say after the NVC receives your case. Also, do we just bring the DS-160 to the interview or is it something you have to send beforehand also? Should I have it prepared before I receive the NOA2?

EDIT: Any idea what the waiting time is looking like for Montreal interviews also? If i were to book today what's the approximate earliest date I would get?

    Thanks!

  9. That's great, glad I have a fellow Canadian going through it at the same time! Hopefully we can help each other out at each step :)

I am a fellow Canadian also!

Hoping we receive our NOA2s soon!

    Question for fellow April filers:

After we receive the NOA2 can we schedule our interviews? If not what do we have to wait for in order to schedule?

Also, what's a fair approximate timeline now since the April NOA2s have sped up? If all goes well would it be fair to expect to be with our loved one around October? Thanks.

EDIT: And when do we fill out the DS-160? Can we have it ready before the NOA2 comes in?

    Thanks.
