You are at a risk of having your ROC denied. You can see if you need to reschedule otherwise you will have to start over from scratch, fees and everything. If you will be outside of the US for a while then some decision will need to be made. A bio appointment can be made very quickly. I remember my wife got her appointment notice only one week before the appointment date.

This sucks but this is the risk of being out of the country when going through an immigration process. See if you can reschedule the biometric. If you can, that is a good thing, but then you still need to be available for the interview, which could be any time after the biometric.

    Good luck

    Thank you for the reply!

  2. Hello, could you, please, help me - I missed my biometrics appointment in the States. I am currently outside of the USA because of a family reason and need to stay here for a while.

I am waiting for removing my condition on my green card. I missed the appointment because I got the mail too late.

What should I do now? Is it possible to reschedule it outside of the States? And how do I do it?

    Thank you,

    Maruška

  3. Hello,

I am not sure who to contact about this situation.

As a permanent resident of the United States, I am currently waiting on removing my condition and receiving a new green card. I am also currently in the Czech Republic because of my family situation.

I plan on going back to the United States in June. Since I am waiting on my new green card, I obtained an I-551 stamp in my passport.

Unfortunately, my dog chewed my passport and I think I will not be able to use it when I fly to the States. It's not bad, but I don't think they would say it's valid documentation.
I will have to apply for a new passport, which would not be a big problem if I did not have the I-551 stamp in my current one.

Is it possible to obtain a new I-551 stamp at the embassy? And if not, what is my option?

I appreciate your help in this situation.

Did you already do your biometrics?  I am not aware of anything else that needs to be sent in.  The only other thing to keep in mind is that when staying out of the US as an LPR for 6 months or more may raise some eyebrows at CBP, and if you plan to stay out longer than 12 months you need to get a re-entry permit.

    Good Luck!

I didn't. I'm still waiting for the letter. It hasn't been scheduled yet.

Is there a way to send a letter to CBP to explain my situation and that is because of family reasons? Thank you!

  5. Hello,

I've been outside of the US for 4 months now and still planning on staying at home in Europe for a couple more.

I'm waiting for removing the conditions. I sent the application before I left back in July and didn't know I'd go to Europe for so long.

Do I have to send additional information? Does anyone have an experience with this, please?

Thank you for all your help.

    Maruska

  6. Hello guys, I'm in the process of filling I-751. They mad a mistake on my first card, so I had to send it back and they never sent me a new one, so I got I-551 stamp in my passport.

I know it says you have to include the copy of the green card. Should I mention something in my cover letter maybe?

Also, am I correct that I have to send $595+$85=$680 filing fee? I didn't know if the biometrics fee is necessary when they may not request it.

    Thank you.

  7. Hello, everyone,

I need help, please. I got my green card in September last year, but unfortunately, they put a wrong date of expiration.

I didn't return it right away because we had a trip scheduled to the Czech Republic for December and I needed it to come back.

I returned it in February/March. In July we moved to a different state (so I had to change the address) and now I have to apply for a new driver's license and everything, but I can't because I'm still waiting for the new card! (They told me they can't give me a new driver's license without my green card)

Can't believe I'm still waiting, all they had to do is to switch the date! My online status still says "biometrics appointment", which I had in June!

How long does it take? Anyone in the same situation? This is getting so frustrating all over again..

    Thank you!

  8. Right. The problem is that even though a lot (most?) of us know that going in, a lot of people are getting an RFE asking for it. We did. But instead of going to do another medical, I contacted our Congressman's office (they have liaisons to help work through issues with Federal agencies--it's the the drama queen move it sounds like. It is legitimately how you sort through issues exactly like this. I used to do that job, so I'm very familiar with this), who contacted the field office directly, who looked into it and basically said "oops our bad, we have the medical file now. Ignore the RFE, you're back in the normal processing line".

Got you! Glad you didn't give up and went and solve the problem!! That's great! Hopefully, everything will go smooth for you now!

  9. Anyone who has or gets the medical RFE-- I just heard back from my Congressman's office who contacted USCIS for us. They said that the RFE was sent in error and that our file has been put back in for normal processing. The exact wording of USCIS's response makes it sound like if it goes to a field office for processing, that the K1 package and the AOS package aren't sent together or something. But NOW they have the K1 package with our medical info in it so we can ignore the RFE. Saved us $500 right there. Worth it to me!

Just make sure that you are *clear* with your Congressman. Explain it in bullet points if you need to.

    • Had medical abroad for K1 visa
    • Packet given to CPB as required
    • Applied for AOS
    • Followed the instructions you see here (link to the instructions): medical was done within 12 months of filing, and DS 3025 was properly completed.
    • Not sure what they're asking for. Is a paper lost? If so, do we need full medical or only vaccination supplement?

    That should clear it up.

Exactly!! I didn't have my medical done as well!

I just thought it was a total waste of money!

If you're here on K1 visa, you don't need to have another one!

You already had that done in your country! :)
