  1. The Department of Homeland Security messed up with spelling my name incorrectly at POE, so I have an appointment with USCIS in Detroit on December 14th. Hopefully they will be able to correct it relatively quickly,.. cause I got a job!!! :dancing::dancing: After 3 weeks in the country, I got a job!! :dancing: Now, I don't want everything to be messed up, so do not have a car, drivers license or bank account yet..waiting for my name to be corrected. If I don't it will be wrong in all official documents I sign,..and that can cause problems later. I notified the employer right away that there was issues with that, and they said they would wait for me. Not a super job, but it's a start and in a rapidly growing company, so there is possibilities for advancement in not so distant future. Call center, taking incoming calls. Seems like a very nice place to work,..I've been there twice. Both times I was walked around the facility and introduced to everyone.. hehe. Hoping I'll be able to start early January.

  2. Yay....finally here!! Been a loooong journey ( 1 year) but, I'm finally here. Left Norway with mixed emotions.. felt bad for leaving my family and my kids (they are grown up). I'm sure I'll feel homesick every now and then, but the knowledge that I have a return ticket going home to see my family in June make things easier. Arrived on Friday the 11th, POE went smooth, except from me waiting in the wrong line for 20 minutes.. then I had to wait in another line for about 30 minutes.. Once I got to the officer it went very smooth. :dancing: No harassment what so ever.. I just handed over my passport and envelope,.. she asked if the address was correct and if she could have my husbands phone number. Then she took my fingerprints and asked me to follow her into another room. I was asked to sit down and wait,..which I did for about 5 minutes. She came back, asked me to read and sign information about removal of conditions,.. and I was free to go. Picked up my bags and finally got to be in my husbands arms again. JOY!!! (L)(L):luv:

  3. There are many users who have a U.S. citizen as a spouse... How did you find your partners? I don't want to live here, to be honest! The U.S. is really the country I belong in.

Edit: I realized this was meant for Scandinavians... Please treat a young 18-year-old boy from your neighboring country, Finland, well!

Hi, young 18 year old boy. I think you need to look into the options the others in the forum have suggested. Looking for love in the US is very much starting in the wrong end. I was absolutely not looking for someone, let alone someone from the US...it is on the other side of the world.. Quite frankly I would never move there if it wasn't for him. If I could chose I wish that he could move here, but there are things that makes that very difficult right now.

Regarding "I don't want to live here",... what are you looking for, what do you think is available in the US that Finland can't offer? I think many people get surprised when they realize "The American Dream" is very hard to achieve. Jobs are sparse, most are part time jobs that offer no medical insurance... which you need in case you get sick.

So, try look into schools/education as a first step.

    Good luck, young man.

  4. Hello everyone. It's me again. Just wondering how long will it take for the visa to get to my fiancé.

09/29 - Interview (AP pending Medical results)

    09/29 - CEAC status AP

    10/03 - CEAC status Issued

How long will it take to get the visa after it was issued.

Also, since we are a same sex couple. When we do get married, we are not planning on taking each other's last name, will this be a problem when we file AOS?

    Thank you guys!

Hi and contrats on your approval!! I don't believe it will cause any problems.. all names are stated in the Marriage Certificate, which is the legal document showing you are married. Good Luck!

  5. Her interview went well. But she was the last one who got interviewed. She got there around 7:45 am and had to wait outside until 9 am. She didn't get out of the embassy until 11 am.

She said she's approved and they took her passport. However she got a 221g because the embassy didn't receive her medical exam result which she did go 2 weeks ago.

    Awesome! Congratulations!!

  6. She's inside now. I'm so nervous, we both are. But I know everything will be ok.

    n-o-l-a ---- thank you. I'll try lol

Yeah, figured since it seem like most of the immigrant visa interviews start between 8 and 9. You'll be fine. Let us know how it went... I got my interview in 25 days.. can't wait to get it over with.

  7. Off topic...

Hello everyone! Finally almost at the end of the K1 visa journey.

So my fiance's interview is later today at 8:30 am and I'm a mess ?

I was rushed to an urgent care clinic for chest pain and heart palpitations only to be told that my heart rate is normal and all vitals are normal.

Doc said, I am having an anxiety attack Due to stress.

Indeed I am nervous, excited, stressed and anxious for today. Can't seemed to calm down.

Need help in calming this nerves.

    Any suggestions?

I know it's easy to say,.. but you just got to calm down. There's nothing you can do at this point. I'm sure the interview will go fine,.. and in about half an hour from now he has called you and said you're approved. :dancing: Life is too short to worry,..it won't change the outcome, it will just destroy your happiness today.

  8. I do really hope you'll be with him soon too. It really made me cry that what he said in the consulate was he wanted to go here because he wanted to do a surprise wedding proposal on our anniversary this coming 30th. I know there's a reason behind about waiting game, but I'm glad we never had a chance giving up with each other in the midst of circumstances we face. LDR is hard though.

Indeed a LDR is hard.. my husband and I have been traveling back and forth for 8 years now.

    Good luck on your journey!

  9. Thank you so much. But the question should we wait a week to see if he gets his passport with visa on it or call right away? I hope things will went well, i miss him so much.

This road we have chosen is not an easy path..it's hard on all of us. We all miss our spouses/loved ones. He should just call them right away and ask, that's what I would have done. It's been 10 months since we started this journey. I've been lucky and been able to visit my hubby twice during this process. My interview is not until October 24th.. hopefully I'll be able to move sometime mid November,.. so a one year process. Believe me, I totally understand that you miss him.

  10. Unfortunately there is no way anyone in here knows the answer to your questions.. only the consulate knows, and I'm afraid your husband will have to contact them and ask.. or just wait until he gets his passport back. Like someone else said,..he should have asked the consular officer, it wouldn't have taken the officer that long to answer a simple yes or no. Keeping my fingers crossed for you guys!

  11. Hi, the absolute quickest way is K1 Visa,.. however you're not able to work until you have your GC processing finalized. The CR-1 visa does take longer (our "journey" has taken 10 months so far, interview after 11 months) , however it is cheaper, and you can start working right away when entering the US.It does not matter in what country you marry,..the time frame is the same as long as you have all the legal documents in order.

Regardless of what route you choose, it is time consuming and frustrating... it is the same for all of us. All we want is to be with the one we love..right.

    Good luck on your journey!

    Hi All,

So, in a nutshell, this is our situation. My girlfriend and I are trying to figure out the quickest way possible to get me to the US to be together permanently (and be able to work, of course). Having read through numerous threads, we are still unsure as to what is our quickest route, so here is the scenario:

    1. I am a UK citizen living in the UK (I have never lived in the US)

    2. She is a US citizen living in the US (she has never lived in the UK)

    3. I have no 'in demand' skills professionally (i.e. I am struggling to find a company who will Visa sponsor me)

    4. We want to get engaged / married regardless

Our question is, what is the quickest possible solution to our problem? Getting engaged and applying for Fiance Visa? Or getting married either in the US or UK then applying for Spouse Visa? and if marriage is the quicker option, which country should we marry in (i.e. who will process the Visa quickest)?

    Living in hope...

    Thank you!
