  1. My Fiance is going to call the Embassy tomorrow to try to get another Packet 3 out, since I had called the State Dept? in US and they said they had sent it out on the 10th of January. Does he only send back the first form to get the process rolling and then later send the checklist when he's got all the documents ready and that's when they set up the interview date? I thought that was what I was getting from posts, then saw another post somewhere saying you are to send it all together. Any help is GREATLY appreciated!

Relax and wait for the other packet 3 to turn up. All the instructions on which bits of paper to send first are clearly laid out in the instruction letter with packet 3. Hold tight, wait for it to turn up and all will become clear.

    Good luck!

  2. I am just asking for some thoughts and prayers and some good energy to come our way please.

To explain...I sent our ORIGINAL k-1 packet...with reciepts, pictures, birth certificates, etcetc (you all know what is in the packet) on the 18th through the USPS. Express...etc...insured...sent in a mega bag with plastic locks on it...etc etc..

It has not arrived at Chris' house yet. Interview is on the 7th. I am in a panic.

Last tracked date is the 19th leaving New York.

Please let me be over reacting, please please tell me what to do. Re assemble the package..? It won't get there in time. What do I do. That is my life in there. Personal idenitity information...

this is the first time during the whole process that my stomach is in my throat.

Relax, it will turn up in time. Sue has sent stuff to me from the US that has taken many weeks so these things can take time. I am sure it will arrive before the 7th. And even if it doesn't, there is nothing in the packet that Chris is likely to need for the interview. The list of required items for the interview he already has so I wouldn't panic. :)

Anyway my prayers are with you and I am convinced everything will turn out just fine

  3. Wow.... Now I am officially sh***ing myself

Anyone advise which is the nearest tube station to get off at?

Also, I know a few others have it the same day, what is your checklist of stuff to take with you....

And to everyone there the same day GOOD LUCK, hopefully this is just a check to make sure of who you are and we will all get the news we have been waiting for.

Anyone have any idea of acceptances to rejections from London?

Lions and tigers and bears Oh MY!!

Good luck tomorrow you'll breeze it

  4. Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!! I told you, you were next! lol

Pjc still hasn't gotten his packet yet either. Hopefully tomorrow or Saturday (it was supposedly sent yesterday too).

    Congratulations!!

Pete got his hotel today for the interview. :) He's going to go to London then come back to get me on Saturday night (for Sunday morning). He doesn't want to miss the courier if they come Fri or Sat. I guess you can't schedule but you can pay extra to have the paperwork delivered before a certain time of the day... instead of waiting between 9 & 5 all day at the flat. We are hoping he gets it delivered Saturday so that we don't have to go back to his flat and we can just stay in London for Valentines. If not, then I guess we will just spend the 2nd week I am there away. I SOOOO LOVE London! (I think its mainly the memories, as I doubt I would enjoy it as much without Pete with me). :luv:

Got my packet 4 this morning in the post

    :) :) :) :) :)

February 12th at 10 AM! I guess they didn't lose our papers afterall. :)

    :)

    That's brilliant!! Congratulations :dance::dance::dance:

  5. Not exactly sure of the distance but Chris booked his room at the Branston as well!

hehehe I am booked in there too! £34 for one night thats not too bad! I know I am a day after Chris (I'm on the 8th) but do you reckon I'll still find Chris propping up the bar the night I'm due in?:lol:

Actually I'm only really staying there cos its address is Cumberland Place and my surname is Cumberland so I wanted to look like a snob

  6. It has been 7 weeks since we returned Packet 3 and the embassy in London checked it in (Dec 7th). They have had our packet since the middle of October. Should we panic, yet? I have emailed the consulate with no reply, and have called the State Department and they say it is still being processed. Is this wait time normal? Should we expect to get an interview date soon? Is there any other way to contact them?

Seems like my persistence has paid off. I received an e-mail today with my interview date for 8th Feb @ 10am.

That took a good 6 weeks.

We're in exactly the same boat. I sent back packet 3 on 4th December. Its been 6 weeks since and still heard nothing. I've phoned the embassy numerous times and they have told me that our case status is "Eligible for interview" but that a date has not been scheduled yet.

Since its been 7 weeks for you, I would suggest you call the embassy helpline 09042 450100 (£1.20 per minute) and tell them its been over 6 weeks and you still haven't got your interview date.

And let us know how you get on. I notice you filed through California as well - it seems to me that there is a delay with dealing with California based cases as others who filed through Texas and Vermont after us have already got interview dates.

  8. Hello everybody, got our interview on the 31st January in London!

Just a question does anybody know everything that is needed for the interview, would hate any delay to be my fault by not taking something.

Any help would be amazing, also how many people are actually rejected at interview stage, we have so much proof. Hoping its the final formality before I get to be with my gal!

    Cheers

    David

Hi David, what time is your interview? I have mine the same day at 9.30.

I'm sweating over paperwork too right now.

I have divorce papers for both of us, birth certificate for him and my adoption certificate, passport, pictures (Snappy Snaps in Marleybone High St near the doctors), I-134(with supporting documents (tax records, employers letter and bank letter), copies of NOA 1+2, copies of I-129F package, updated letter of intent, police checks aand supporting letters, all the originals of proof of meeting sent with I-129F, proof of relationship stuff (phone bills, skype screenshots of daily conversations, emails, more photographs, stuff from a joint bank account we have had for 2 years, some cards and letters we sent each other etc.

I may have missed stuff but I keep adding to the pile.

    Good Luck

    Maggie

    Hi Maggie

Out of interest did you guys put a date for you wedding on your packet 3 checklist before you sent it back? I notice you sent in your p3 just before I did and have already got your interview date. I'm trying to work out if I'm just alone as the unfortunates who sent back p3 early Dec and still haven't received an interview date.

  9. Ok this is a sanity check.

Is there anybody out there who sent in their packet 3 to the London embassy either before 4th December or shortly after and who filed through Nebraska/California and who STILL haven't had their packet 4 sent to them with their interview date?

I sent mine 4th Dec, I've spoken to the Embassy twice and they have told me my case status is "Eligible for Interview" but that they have not scheduled a date for me yet.

I just wanted to know if there was anyone else out there who had filed around the same time and hadn't heard back from them either. I know there are at least half a dozen other lucky couples who filed after me and who have gotten their interview dates. When I put this to the Embassy they just said they had been "very fortunate".

Any other "unfortunates" out there?

    Try here.... http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=48807

Lol, thanks, but Iim involved in that thread

Its what prompted this one!

    Recruiting more?

Not recruiting so much as to trying to find out if its just us that's been waiting this long! Yes I am convinced I am just paranoid and yes I am convinced it will turn up sometime soon.

But it would make me feel a whole load better if I could hear from other people who are in exactly the same boat :)

Oh I remember how that feels. London started slowing down back in August, and seems to have continued to do so since. Dunno whats going on over there, they used to do things in a reasonable time. Hopefully all the workers are getting back off their holidays and things will pick up soon.

It will all be over before you know it. We still have these moments when one or the other of us grins and states.....you/I am really here. In a matter of months you will be in the same boat and will have forgotten all of this stuff.

May the rest of your journey be a speedy one.

Thank you. They are just the words of encouragement I need to hear right now and I really appreciate you saying them :)

Thanks again for your kind words of support

  13. Well then we will plan for a meet up! Twist his arm!

Umm I am actually in the mountains....The beautiful mountains!

The ebay process is exhausting! Although I can't complain at all. It is all about Chris. I just get to reap the benefits!!

Tracy is in TN... not really close but not really far away. Perhaps we could plan a little meet of of the Brits...

I think it will be a needed thing for the boys! We can go shopping! :) Need anything from England?? Might bring back a few food items...

This goes for anyone..I am will to work it out if I can bring back some small items for anyone! No charge but item and postage!! :)

Hey a Brit get together when we all finally get over there sounds like a fab idea! Count me in! Ok so I will be WA and I keep forgetting just how vast America is as a country  It made me laugh the other day when I was reading about the UK on a US website (I think it was the FBI site - don't ask - long story) and it had this "comparative size" thing when comparing the UK to the US. It described the UK as "slightly smaller than Oregon" Made me laugh anyway! And yeah yeah, everybody in the UK knows each other personally, heard it all before

  14. *drum roll*

THIS MORNING CHRIS GOT PACKET 4....he is prolong-ing my excitement and not telling me when the interview is yet! SOD!

Best news at 7:30 I ever got!!

Yeehar! That is fantastic news! Congratulations!

So Vermont and now Texas are getting processed, hey what the heck happened to us California lot? Come on embassy, put us Cali folk out of our misery already! What's Vermont and Texas got that we ain't???

Ok on second thoughts, don't answer that

Just seeeeeeeeend me my gawd damn p4 would ya please, West is Best

  15. Well I just mentioned the intended date to travel & wedding date and put tentative in brackets. I had also sent a cover letter along with the check list explaining my situation and it really worked. As I mentioned earlier, I got the packet 4 in just 3 days. I wish the rest of the process was as quick as that. I'm gonna miss my fiancee's b'day which is on 14...:-(, wish I could see her atleast for Valentines...

I notice that both you two guys who have received your packet 4 already filed through Vermont and not California. I wonder if there's a pattern emerging here?

Yeah I had read somewhere that sending a covering letter with packet 3 explaining the situation could help as far as them arranging an interview date for you but in the end I just decided against it. Perhaps if I had to go this all again I would include a letter with packet 3 - especially if time was of the essence. That could be a possible tip for anyone out their who reads this and who hasn't sent back packet 3 yet?

That's too bad about missing your fiancee's birthday. That is really tough and I do feel for you. Hang on in there though! All these times apart now will become meaningless when you finally get the visa in your hand and never have to miss another birthday! Well unless of course you want too!

    Good luck

  16. Well, I had sent the checklist on 4th Dec, the embassy received it on 5th and I received an appointment letter on 7th Dec 2006. The interview was for 29th Dec as I had requested a date towards the end of Dec. I was really impressed and was feeling lucky, but then the rest was to follow.

Just out of interest, how did you request a date? Just by saying you had a date in mind for the marriage? Cos I know I'd like to request a date without having to specify an exact date for marriage.

Yes I would be interested to know that too. There was nothing in my packet 3 that let you request a date for the interview as far as I can remember. There were fields for date of entry to US and a marriage date I think but nothing that allowed you to specify an interview date. Unless I missed something.

  17. Hey, pjc's other half here. I believe he emailed the embassy but they just sent a message back saying they can't do anything about it or something like that (as in they can't send status info).

Can we call?? How do we do that?

You can call the visa help line:

Operator Assisted Visa Information: 09042-450100 (This is NOT a London number. It does not require any other prefix or dialling code.)

Monday through Friday, 8.00 a.m. until 8.00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 10.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m.; £1.20/min; only available in the U.K., within U.K. may be unavailable from some business telephones and mobile networks.

I guess people have occasionally gotten good information from that line, but it costs a lot. I also recall that people can call the State Dept. domestically and get their interview date that way, but I don't know what that number is.

So I called them and the Scottish lass told me that our case had "qualified on the 18th December". This meant that they had received all the paper work, medical test results et al satisfactorily and now we had to wait up to 6 weeks from that date for the interview to be scheduled and a letter sent out.

  18. Good thread!

Sent my packet 3 checklist on 4th December 2006 and still waiting for packet 4....I make that around 5 weeks I've been waiting (ok, so there was Xmas inbetween - no excuse! :hehe: )

Anyone else out there sent P3 before 4th Dec 2006 and still waiting for P4 ?????

  19. Whilst it is true that the Police certificates are valid for 12 months the US embassy in London have recently changed their requirement stating that the Police Certifcates must have been issued within the last 6 months. I saw this on their website and am trying to find where I saw it so I can post the link.

This is not true.. please read below directly from the USEmbassy website

How long is a police certificate valid for?

With the exception of the U.K. police certificate which is considered valid for 12 months from the date of issuance, a police certificate is valid indefinitely, provided you do not return to the country and reside for six months or more, if it's your country of birth or current residence. The period is twelve months for any other country.

    http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/faqs/...a_iv.html#iv041

Here's the link with the other information that I was referring to about subject access (i.e. Police Certificate) being issued within the last 6 months. Note specifically the paragraph that reads:

A Subject Access Statement from the National Identification Service (NIS) or an Enhanced Disclosure Statement from the Criminal Records Bureau issued less than 6 months before your visa interview.

    http://www.usembassy.org.uk/cons_new/visa/niv/add_crime.html

But this is under the section "NonImmigrant Visas".. Isnt the IR-1 an Immigrant Visa ?

Yes, but I understand the requirements for producing the Police Certificate is the same for both immigrant and non-immigrant visas
