  1. Has anyone received an RFE (apparently its pink...) for your AOS and along with the request for what they want, they ask you to write a statement and sign it in regards to I, such and such will be unable to work till 90 days after the RFE has been sent...or something to that effect? How weird? I thought that the EAD app would NOT get affected by any RFE's we receive for the AOS... The RFE seems it is only requesting my W-2 which I didn't send and asking for my dad's 1099 (which he does not file as he is not techinically self-employed) and if there was an extension which there wasn't...

I have yet to read it in entirety (my husband has it at home and I am at work). The main thing is WHY would they make him write he can't work when he is filing for an EAD which he has a BIO appt on Thursday? Anyone else receive something like this??

    Here's what the letter says:

  3. The promise-Tracy Chapman.

It has this lyrics, "...If you wait for me, then I'll come for you".

It's for my NoA2 song. Heh. CSC <_<

Awww I see you guys are just starting out on the journey.

If I can be of any help whatsoever don't hesitate to IM/email me. I started the whole K1 thing off last June and finally got the K1 stamped in my passport in February. I am leaving the UK for the US on April 2 and getting married on April 27. You could say I don't do things by half.

Now its happening, I am always getting asked about the secret to long marriage and I ain't even gotten wed yet! But I always tell them I guess its taking time out to go a restaurant a couple of times a week - a little candlelight, dinner and soft music - heck maybe even some dancing. She can go Tuesdays and I can go Fridays.

  4. It's a riddle with 2 answers, and its only part of the original riddle.

It is a riddle with only 1 correct answer.

As for being a part of the original riddle, I fear we find ourselves at the beginning again. Sounds like QED to me.

  5. Are gays/lesbians allowed to file for I130 or I129?

just curious since we're on that subject :D

Whats that? Curious you say?

Homosexuality begins in the womb. Its alll about which hormones are delivered, how much of the hormones, and at which stage of development they are delivered. Homosexuals, hetrosexuals, transsexuals are all made this way. i.e. if at the physical development stage there is a lot of testosterone then the body will be male but if there is not enough testosterone at the brains developmental stage then the mind will be female and you end up with someone who is man outside and woman inside.

Whilst brutally mechanical in the language - I would say that was as good a definition as you are likely to get. It certainly matches what I've always been taught.

  6. I do not think being gay is right or wrong because its not my place to judge. What Im trying to figure out is why pple say they were born gay and some say they turned gay. :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

Okay here is the deal can anyone in this forum tell us all when they decided they were going to be attracted to the same sex or the opposite sex. If u cant think of when " exact moment" or how u came to the conclusion of what your choice is, then could it be that the choice was made for you??

Are we saying to be gay is just when you have a sexual attraction to the same sex or are we saying to be gay means same sex couples falling in love with each other and wanting to live happily (married) together for ever and ever?

Homosexuality is not just about sex in my opinion, but the word "gay" seems to imply that it is.

I tend to agree with what S2CONVT says - trying to figure something like that out is an endless pursuit. Ultimately it is a matter for your own conscience.

  7. His nephew ?

    oh whatever :hehe:

I'm afraid that is not right either, but you did look ever so cute when you said it.

I hope for both our sakes that wasn't you who answered Dan. Knowing my luck, it was

Dan is asleep. This is his answering machine. Meep.

I don't think you realise just how relieved you have made me feel. Of course I knew all the time that it was a pretty female which had replied - don't ask me how, but I could tell it was cute.

Ah well I have a clear conscience  Its called a bad memory.

  11. I have been paying into a UK pension fund since I have been working in the UK. I have given notice of my job in the UK and fly out to the US on the April 2 and get married April 27. When I find myself a job in the US I will obviously want to transfer my UK pension fund over to any US based pension fund that may be offered to me when I start employment out there.

Does anyone have any experience of going about this?

    Thanks

    Pete

  12. You people crack me up. No his I-94 didn't say "WORK AUTHORIZED" and no his employer didn't decide to let him work, he WAS LEGALLY ABLE TO WORK for 90 days. WHat are you people not understanding here??? JEEZ this makes me crazy. All I was trying to do was help everyone out with my TRUE experience and ease everyone's mind taht you will nto get any POE to stamp WORK AUTHORIZED on your I-94 butthat your I-94 is in fact your authorization to work if you have a SS# taht's it, noo tricky language, nothin AND, again, no one did us any favors by letting my husband work for ninety days? He rightfully and legally was able to work for 90 days with his I-94 that DID NOT say "WORK AUTHORIZED" and his SS# and I.D that he got through teh STate that was valid onlyuntil the expiration of both the I-94 and visa. Thanks guys! :)

Best of luck to all of you! It's not that complicated, ujless you make it complicated. :)

    Skemper,

You are right, this is quite simple.

The fact remains that some HR departments take what the I-9 instructions literally. It states "Unexpired foreign passport, with I-551 stamp or attached INS Form I-94 indicating unexpired employment

    authorization"

The fact that JFK has a little red stamp that states "work authorized" only compounds the issue. If an HR person sees this stamp once they will always want to see it.

The employer has a responsibility to ensure that people they hire are legal, if there is a doubt, even if it is unfounded. They may not want to take the risk and get a fine.

Agreed and I think the post on the following website will close the debate, especially the last attached doc embedded.

    Good luck

    This basically restates everything above.

  13. WE GOT IT! Chris just called! Expect the visa in 2-3 days!! Awesome! I can finally believe that our wedding will be in JUNE! Thanks again guys and good luck for everyone for the future! Time to pack and fly out!

FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!! Brilliant news I am SOOOOOOOO pleased for you guys!!!!!!!!!!!

  14. Hey Candace, I see you guys used Seattle as a POE and got an EAD stamp.

Pete, Candace, and everyone else in this thread, arrived with Immigrant Visas, not K-1s. There is no EAD stamp to get; these folks are all admitted as Permanent Residents.

I have not heard any positive reports about EAD stamps at SEA.

Ah thanks, that makes more sense. Thanks for the heads up!

  15. I arrived in Seattle on 3rd January with my CR-1 visa. All went smoothly at POE, I was guided by an employee to go with my husband to a specific window for new immigrants. There was just one person ahead of us who was just finishing up when we got there, so the Officer practically moved straight on to our case. He was rather miserable and I didn't get a 'welcome to America' :( but I wont complain as it was very smooth and speedy! He took my fingerprints, checked through all my paperwork, asked me my Father's name and how long we'd been married, then stamped my visa and sent us on our way :)

Hey Candace, I see you guys used Seattle as a POE and got an EAD stamp. You just might to be able to help me out here.

Did you guys do anything special to arrange it that way? Let me paint the picture, my K1 visa will be approved on 8th Feb 2007 and I am looking to enter the US just as soon as I can after that date AND get a stamp so I can work. But from what I have been lead to believe JFK is just about the only POE who will give you that temp EAD stamp so that you can work.

Now my baby girl lives near Seattle and from your timeline it appears as though you have recently used Seattle as a port of entry AND you have gotten an EAD stamp. Is that the case? If I knew that flying directly into Seattle from the US assured me getting an EAD at the same time, then I would be truly interested in knowing that fact :help:

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Cheers

    Pete
