  1. I did joint filing in November 2018, my local field office is Seattle.
    "
On November 21, 2018, we received your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence". I remember needing to call to ask about my receipt notice and wasn't sent it til January 2019.

In January 2019 my green card expired.

In March 2019 I had an info pass appointment to get I551 stamp.

In April 2019 my case status read

"Case Was Updated To Show Fingerprints Were Taken
As of April 14, 2019, all of the fingerprints relating to your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number WAC1990xxxx, have been applied to your case. "

I didn't have a bio metrics appointment so I figured they used my fingerprints on file for when I had my previous bio metrics appointment in 2016 or they used my finger prints that I gave during my info pass appointment.

In August 2019 I was given an bio metrics appointment date. I was out of town and called to see if it could be rescheduled and I mentioned how my finger prints had already been applied to my case. They cancelled my bio metrics appointment saying I didn't need it (as they had my fingerprints).

In January 2020 I was sent a bio metrics appointment notice in the mail but did not receive the notice until 2 days after the appointment date. I called to reschedule and mentioned the previous situation surrounding my finger prints on file and cancelling of the appointment. I was told I still needed a bio metrics appointment and maybe my finger prints on file were too old.

So I had my bio metrics appointment rescheduled for March 3rd 2020 which ended up being the first day it was shut due to covid!!! so they rescheduled me for later in March but of course it remained shut.

In July my extension letter expired. On July 27th I filed an inquiry, I got a very generic reply on August 7th that said "Thank you for your inquiry.  We recognize your interest in the final adjudication of your pending application or petition and are aware of the difficulties caused by any delay in processing. We regret that we are not able to give you a timeframe for when we will review your case but the California Service Center is committed to processing this workload.  We will be making every effort to adjudicate your case in the most efficient manner based on our available resources.   "

On August 10th I reached out to the USCIS ombudsman, I called with a follow up a week later and they said they are still working on cases from June 2020, so I still haven't heard back from them.

On September 8th I notified USCIS of my change of address.

Then suddenly after almost 22 months this happened:

    September 9, 2020

    New Card Is Being Produced

On September 09, 2020, we ordered your new card for Receipt Number WAC1990xxxx, and will mail it to the address you gave us.

    September 11, 2020

    Case Was Approved

On September 11, 2020, we approved your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number WAC1990xxxx. We sent you an approval notice. Please follow the instructions in the notice. If you do not receive your approval notice by September 26, 2020, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request.

    I didn't have a bio metrics appointment, I didn't get a RFE, I didn't have an interview, I hadn't filed for N400.
I'm beyond relieved but also very confused, I was anticipating this to continue to drag on alot longer.

  2. After no updates since April 2019 (fingerprints applied to case) I finally got a notice saying Case was approved.

I was very much not expecting this after all this time, I definitely thought I’d get a RFE just cause all my evidence is from over 2 years ago.
I filed at the California service Center In Nov 2018 and a few days ago I changed my address which I think prompted them to look at my case.

Im unsure what instructions I’m meant to follow in the notice, does anyone know if this means something specific ?

  3. Hi everyone,
I have some questions about the I-551 stamp and infopass appointments. I'm a November 2018 filer with my I-797 NOA receipt letter extension valid until July 26 2020.
I currently have a 1 year I-551 stamp in my passport but the stamp is about to expire. I called USCIS today requesting an infopass appointment to get another stamp and was told that I am not eligible for an infopass appointment until I'm within 1 month of my  NOA letter expiring (so June). I told them about my I-551 stamp expiring and that I want a valid one in my passport for international travel and was told I don't need one unless my NOA extension letter has expired.
I'm feeling apprehensive because even thought I know an expired green card with a NOA extension is legally valid I was advised a few years ago by a lawyer who helped with the I-751 to get the I-551 stamp and I recall reading on forums that some border officers will give you a hard time if you have the expired green card and valid NOA without the I-551 stamp.

I'm wondering if anyone has successfully gotten an I-551 stamp recently while still having many months left on their NOA? Or if others have tried and faced the same issues? Has anyone traveled on the expired GC and valid NOA letter with or without any issues when re entering the US?

I'm planning to go abroad in May, returning in June and obviously I'm hoping I'll just have my new card by then but things are taking so long that I'm not banking on it. I feel nervous leaving the country and not having a much documentation as possible ie a valid I-551 stamp. Any thoughts or insight?

    Thankyou

I think you should call USCIS asap and ask what's going on.  If they already received your case, you can get your receipt number.

Thankyou! I called and they said they would mail me the extension and gave me a receipt number. I entered the receipt number on the USCIS website and it said "Validation Error(s) You must correct the following error(s) before proceeding:

    • My Case Status does not recognize the receipt number entered. Please check your receipt number and try again. If you need further assistance, please call the USCIS Contact Center at 1-800-375-5283."
  5. Hey,
I'm in a similar position to a lot of other people here. Sent off my i751 on Nov 13th to the AZ address, tracked shipping said it arrived Nov 16th.

I have not heard anything back yet, no e-notice, no sms, no NOA and I am starting to get more and more worried that it's been lost/not received  as my green card expires on Jan 26th.

I was hoping on some advice as to what I should do...? I've read of people making E-requests, calling, making an info pass appointment but I'm not sure what to do for my situation? I don't even have a receipt number for the application. Should I do something ASAP or wait til after my green card expires?
    Thankyou :)

  6. Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong section
I'm a green card holder through K1 adjustment of status.
I moved to the United States in May 2016 and got married in June 2016.
Prior to getting married I was working in Canada in which I paid Canadian taxes.
My spouse and I are currently filing our 2016 tax return and I'm unsure if I need to just include my US W2 or if I ALSO need to include my Canadian T4??
Or do I file my Canadian tax return separately? And do I have my status as single or married, as I was not yet married during the time I was working in Canada (and thus paying taxes there).
To make things even more confusing I'm not a Canadian Citizen or Resident, I'm Australian and was in Canada on a working holiday Visa.
    Thanks for any insight

  7. I have my AOS interview in less than a week.
    I didn't submit the I-693 as I had a complete DS-3025 from my K1 visa.
I had a flu shot for my K1 medical as it was Dec 2015 at the time.
My interview is now happening in flu season but I have not had a flu shot since my K1 medical.
Do I need another flu shot before my interview even if at the time of submitting my AOS it was summer?

  8. My US Citizen spouse has recently done a legal change of both his first and last name. He has notified Social Security and eventually plans on changing his license, passport etc.

I am part way through the AOS process from a K1 visa. I've received my EAD & AP and our case is "ready to be scheduled for an interview" (however that notification has been there since September 2016 & we still don't have a date...... is that unusually long?)

My question is at what point do we need to notify USCIS of this name change and how?

Is there any paperwork or forms we need to send off?
Do we need to have the name changed on the wedding certificate?
Do we need to notify USCIS before the interview?
Or when we have our interview do we just bring the court document of the name change?

I'm starting to worry and can't find any information online in regards to the US citizen going through a name change and it being changed at this point in the process.

    Thanks in advance

  9. Hi,
I just sent off my AOS from K1 package using USPS priority mail, however I sent it to the street address and NOT the PO Box.
I came online after as I started worrying that maybe it should have sent it to the PO Box and read a bunch of different info.
I've already called the post office and its been sent out so I can't change it.

Has anyone sent it through USPS priority to USCIS
Attn: FBAS 131 South Dearborn - 3rd Floor Chicago, IL 60603-5517?
    What was your experience?

    Will these delay my package?
Will it still be received and processed?

Or do I need to worry and do something about it?

    Thanks

  10. Had my K1 interview today in Vancouver. Everything went well except for the fact that my Australian police clearance certificate was from 2013. I didn't think this would be an issue as I haven't been there since that time but they wanted an updated one.
I was issued a paper saying:

AUTHORIZATION TO RETURN TO THE NONIMMIGRANT VISA UNIT FOR K1 VISA APPLICANTS

The office is unable to make a final decision on your visa application at this time, as we require additional information. Under 221(g) of the United States Immigration and Nationality Act (INA), a consular officer may not issue a visa to any applicant whose eligibility has not been clearly established. Further Action on your case has been suspended pending the receipt and review of the additional documentation below.

    1. Passport
    2. Police clearance certificate Australia

(followed by instructions on how to send them)

I naturally feel really upset but not too stressed as our wedding plans are still not for a few months now.
However I am worried as I have plans to visit Australia (I have family there) one last time in February before getting married and starting my life in the United States.

I don't think it's possible to receive my police certificate and send it to the consulate in time to also receive my passport back in time for my trip. I'm thinking of sending it all off to them when I return first week of March, however I'm obviously worried about it taking so long to send my police certificate to them.

I guess I wanted to ask if anyone else has received a notice like this upon their interview and if it took them a while to send off the documentation required? Will the longer it takes to send off said documentation jeopardize my visa?

Does it take longer processing times to get your visa and passport if you have been given this type of form? I want to be able to move in with my fiance/enter the United States a month upon returning from my trip.

    Thankyou,

Any further insight into this form would also be greatly appreciated :)
