Actually, I'm doing ok. It's my fiancé. I've been the one that's well aware of how long the process takes and how long it used to take. I feel pretty fortunate.
She's been a bit in the dark and is just waiting to get ready to move but doesn't want to get too ready without word.
It's getting to her.
I think it's a female thing lol
-
I would've sent an extra $500 if the CSC got my petition done faster ??
You and I both lol, we are so impatient ? but we will look back on this and laugh one day hopefully. I think before Friday we will hear something!
-
I sent in my package on December 23rd. Got my NOA1 with receipt date of December 30th. I'm excited and nervous.
Welcome to the journey, yay for another Dominican Republic filer!
-
I'm just patiently waiting, (probably won't hear anything until mid- February) but congrats to everybody else who has gotten their noa2's. & to everybody who is stressing out, just relax and take the earlier advice given. Posting your anxiety is contagious lol just go start working towards the next process or something? I have my fingers crossed that everybody gets them soon. Hurry Up & Wait is a terrible thing, but that's just part of it

It really depends, some exceeded from 10 days, how to justify? I do this method everytime.
Go to your Timeline
Click show similar timelimes
Common Visa Timelines
Select K1
Then scroll down to filter your area
Select your service center
And select Dominican Republic
Then hit "Filter"
Then try to compare and analyze.
I checked DR and found out some are less than 10 days, some are within a month.
I suggest to not expect too much to avoid conflicts. That's why it's important to always update your timeline so atleast we can all have guidance. That's the purpose of VJ anyway! ?
thank you, Kenia is in the USA filing K1 for Dominican Republic, and shes not in my search, but Christina is.... ? I wonder why that is. And For some reason I was listed as being in Armenia (#######??) So i fixed that, but let me QUADRUPLE check, I know it has been answered a billion times but clearly I do not pay attention. What date do we put as the noa1.. on my I-797C it was received date December 22, but Notice Date December 24. My notice date would be the 24, right?

Hey all. I've been seeing conflicting info reading so many threads (maybe I should stop reading so much).
I included all my proof of ongoing relationship and proof of seeing each other) with my petition. I've seen other info that says they only want that when you go for your interview.
I also included my divorce decrees with my petition but I'm also seeing posts that conflict with that as well.
What's the deal? I guess there's no harm in sending too much stuff, is there? I thought all that was supposed to be in the petition.
You and I both need to stop reading so much, we do however need to get our noa2s lol. I was told I have too much proof, but a lot of people get RFEs for not enough, so damned if you do, damned if you don't. I think you are better safe than sorry
-
I'm getting ahead of myself, but for those who have already received the noa2, is the standard wait time a 10 day wait to call and get the case number? Or is it usually a longer time frame?
-
Whattttt??? Totally late to the game. Ive been too busy checking my mail and telephone to read these forums hahaha. Got my NOA2 last week. Woot woot. Waiting for the next step. In the meantime....Megan!!! You're in Knoxville? He lives in Dominican Republic?? Baby momma issues?? You went there the same week as me? Damnit! Where have you been!!! We should do lunch! Love this new forum. Excited to see how things continue transpiring. Fingers crossed for everyone. Christina!
SUPPPPPER small world!i just messaged you, I also met a guy from Nashville in the Santo Domingo Airport who asked me a billion questions about the fiance visa (clearly im no expert, I ask dumb questions in here on the regular!) I told him about this site and he was going to make an account
-
I am thinking ahead (crossing finger for approval soon to start getting things ready) but anyone can tell me if my fiance's daughter mother would have to sign any official document needed for the interview etc. she is a very difficult person to work with and I really would like to be ready to request what is needed from her to allow the kid get the visa with her dad if approved.
Dominican Baby Momma's don't get along with me lol. What is she saying about the whole process? My fiance would like to bring his son here eventually, but the son's mother hates me with a passion, so that will never happen for me. I did ask him about how child support and stuff works in the DR.. he just said it's not really a legal issue like it is in America, if the father/mother sends money, and the child is taken care of, that's all that matters (even though they won't come lock you up if you're not a decent human and don't support the child) Random, but what city is he from? I feel like I toured half of the country this week
-
You're vastly underestimating how many they get ?
I had to go back more than 12,000 cases before I found the one from December 11 that I found approved.
Wow, ya I guess so lol. I wonder how many numbers are between us since we have the same timeline. On another note, congratulations to everybody for getting those noa2s
-
I'm not but I guess you could do that if you wanted. The app allows you to choose a range of case numbers. I simply choose a range of 100 cases.
My android tracking app doesn't give me that option? I can only type in or scan a case number. I typed in over a thousand before mine and it still says it's been received, nothing else for those
-
The thing that convinced me about that lawyer is what you said "If he and staff feels they can't get you a visa they won't take you as a client". That usually means they are not going to waste your time and their time because "time is money". The other thing is that is a warning sign if they don't take your case.
And look now, you are getting information for free and enjoying everyone's company while going through the process. The only thing missing is your favorite drink.
Haha I feel like I owe you a lot of money from all of the dumb questions I ask. But on the bright side, I'll be away with no laptop for 6 days, and you won't have to worry about all my notifications lol
-
So far they had made things easy for me and my fiancé .
I'm thankful for doing so much research on all the attorneys before hiring them.
You can ask a ton of questions for free before hiring them.
That's crazy. The cheapest lawyer that would even give me a quote for anything without payment, was $2,100 only to file the k1 paperwork. Most people in my area required an appointment and a $150-250 initial fee for questions/any information
-
On a scale of 1-10 how important is it that the fiance gets a duplicate copy of the packet that we filed, I have the I-129f, g325's, birth certificate, letters of intent, etc and most information, I think I just misplaced a few pages of the documentary proof of our trips together.
Is the main purpose for them to have a copy, is to study for the interview? If the copy I give him tomorrow isn't an exact replixa, how big of an issue will it be, is my main concern
-
Thank you! My attorney is preparing everything for me! I hired them to make it easier for
My fiancé , they hold her hands through the whole process and even cut through the lines!
How did the lawyer cut through the lines?
-
I really don't want a RFE, but If my passport had 4 months left of validity when I sent the packet, do you think that would matter (Since I'm the petitioner?) I'm renewing it next week after my travels.

They will use the 1040 as history to your earning potential and your current earnings in the decision. Unemployment does not count as well as the other items you mentioned. They are concerned for the "here and now". Does your current employment support the two of you based on the poverty level? if so, can you get an employment letter from your current employer(s) with the facts? If yes then you then no need for a co-sponsor.
Keep in mind that the poverty level can change for 2016 but it's not going to be drastic. The most current one will be used at the time of your interview, so you will have to revisit if needed to determine if your ok or not.
Hope this is helping.
you are very helpful, I think I should be borderline poverty level sadly for 2015 (finishing unemployment, and finding a new passion), but in the previous 3 years I am above 30,000. I will be above poverty this year if it kills me. Thank you for all of your advice, you have been extremely helpful and I am grateful for you!
-
Did you file income tax in 2014? If so, look at line 22 of your 1040 and that is the number they will use.
If that does not meet the poverty levels because of reporting, then do you have W2 or an employee letter that states your income level. If you do, and it meets or exceeds the poverty level then you do not need a co-sponsor.
We just need to show them that your able to support your family on what you earn. The reason we are going through this exercise is that some Embassy's will decline 99% of the co-sponsor's. Some do. I am not family with the Embassy at DR so I can't comment for sure. It's better if you can stand on your own.
Okay, I have in front of me my 1040 from 2014. Line 22 says $34, 281. I also got laid off from my full time job in October that year, and received some unemployment. Does unemployment, new jobs, different wages... do any of those new factors matter? Or are they simply going to just base my information solely off of what my total income for 2014 was ?
I also received my hard copy NOA1 in the mail today, yay!

Stealing the link from Greenbaum's signature, you can go here it provides the link for the Android or iPhone app. http://dennyeyberg.wix.com/filipino-am-visa#!get-the-app/czzs
These are not official USCIS apps, but apps that people have created to bridge a necessary gap.
Thank you! It's good to see someone else from Tennessee on this site too ! I think we are like 3 hours away
-
You can. I've been using the app
what's the app? i checked the USCIS webpage, and it said they received my packet on the 22. Is that what your information said too?
-
Let me ask a question before we get to far into this so you don't have to do more than you need to for the interview.
I am assuming your the USC. Do you make enough income (Line 22 from IRS 1040) to exceed the amount needed to support your family based on the current poverty guidelines?
Family Members - Poverty Level
1 $11,770
2 $15,930
3 20,090
4 24,250
5 28,410
6 32,570
7 36,730
8 40,890
Well, that's a very good question.. I bartend and work a commission based sales job. I know my retail job claims everything, but I highly doubt my bar manager claims cash tips. So legally, I don't have any idea what is claimed, but technically yes. That's why I figured I would need my mother's help since I don't know what my income looks like on government paper
-
Greenbaum or any other member who has a clue-
I'll be going to visit my fiance this week, but I am trying to research to get ahead. I should receive my hard-copy NOA1 one day this week. Assuming that there are no problems or RFEs, and I do get a NOA2 in the future... I know the information I need from my employers, and I can easily attain those. I can get all of my bank information for the form also. But when it comes to the I-134, do I personally fill this form out? and if I have my mother be a co-sponsor, does she fill out an I-134 also? (or is it the I-864 that my co-sponsor fills out?) I already have a copy of the I-129f packet that includes supporting evidence, I can make a letter of intent in the future, and I can easily provide ongoing relationship evidence as well as copy the NOA2 If i receive that.
My fiance hasn't lived outside of his country for more than 6 months, so I don't believe he will need the police clearance. I went to the Dominican Republic Embassy page that you linked me too last week, and just got way more confused. So I won't even open that can of worms until I can get through the other baby steps.
