  1. I would call back in about 3 or 4 days and ask again. Sounds like you may have got someone tired of answering phones. Once a number is assigned at NVC it should take about 4 days to reach Bogota.

This is all considering you do not go into administrative review. If so, they should tell you that you are in admin review.

  2. The post is for those of us that do not have an NVC number, who went through CSC, and who call NVC and get told they do not have our papers.

CSC still has them and has not mailed them to NVC.

Process is CSC to NVC to said embassy.

I don't know the shipping method from CSC to NVC. I do however know you have to place it in some mail system to have it delivered. The lady at CSC said that my papers and others are still sitting in the CSC mailroom waiting for some quantity to build up before delivery would happen. It's been a month.

You are correct for the NVC to embassy. That is a diplomatic delivery via DHL.

    Hopes this clears the confusion.

  3. Sort of an update. Still waiting on the Congressman's rep response.

    Since the posting yesterday.

-I got a touch at CSC yesterday for case inquiry.

-Called the Congressman's office today to follow up on FAX from yesterday. The lady was very nice and is looking into my case. She did not give me any can response.

-Just now I got more touches from CSC.

So I will wait a day or so now and give them time to work. (so I don't piss them off)

At the least it appears that this did generate some response and hopefully action.

For those doubting responses from your Congressman. Remember it is election time.

  4. I called CSC today. I give my petiton number and wanted to know the status of shipment to NVC. The response I got was that it is still in the mailroom. The lady said they are waiting for enough petitions to build up to mail. She did not have an expected departure date.

    What utter bullshit.

I just finished writing a letter to my Congressman and faxing it to his office. I will update this thread if this should happen to make any difference. Patience ran out today.

  5. My news was not the same. Good to hear you at least got some answers.

I called again today and the lady said to wait 90 days. Can answer of course.

Then I got this strange call from somewhere in the Mid-west. It was a cowboy for the pony express. He said he was doing his best to get our petitions to NVC.

OK, just trying to inject some humor in this crazy situation.

Hope everyone will finally get their apporovals. Congrats to all that have.

  6. Thanks for the replies. I'm going to leave the money with her on the November trip. Now if I could just get that number from NVC.

Peter, I have already given her the forms and we have those filled out. Thanks for the help. We will deliver them once NVC comes through. The aim is for a December appointment. Richard said hello.

  7. I'm going for a visit to Bogota to see Carol in a couple weeks. I will be there for the embassy appointment also, but I would like to leave the money for the medical and embassy cost on this trip.

What cost and how much each?

    Medical ?

    Visa ?

    any other?

Trying to plan ahead as you can see. I'm in the NVC sinkhole right now.

    Thanks.

  8. I am confused about this. I am bringing my fiance and her daughter here from Thailand. Her daughter has her immunization record, (as she needs it for school), but my fiance does not. She was planning to get immunized prior to comming to the US simply because it's cheaper there.

Are you saying there is some list of USCIS 'approved doctors' that have to do them, or are you just saying that in order to be covered by your insurance you have to go to a doctor on your medical plan...

If my fiance gets her vaccinations in Thailand, brings ther record here, and has her daugthers immunization records fom Thailand, will that be sufficient for AOS?

    Bill

    Bill,

I am speaking from the experience of a guy I work with. He married a woman from Bogota last year, just as I am now about to. Once she got here with her son, they were missing one or two shots. The doctors you are requried to use here in the US must have a civil surgeon certification. One link to check out http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/Medical_Exam.htm#whatare. For example. Here where I live there is only 2 of these. Also the prices are about 10x of Bogota. I was attempting to say that if at all possible it may be better to get the shots in the foreign country. The civil surgeons in my area are not on my medical plan. If you get the shots during the packet 3 process and have all the records for the AOS, that will be sufficient and most likely cost you less money and headache. I am requesting my fiancee to get all of hers done during the exam. (considering I ever get my NVC number)

Hope this helps. Send me a personal message if it would be easier.

  9. Be very careful. Only approved doctors can do these vaccinations. Most of these doctors are not on common insurance plans. I just had another friend at work with this similar situation and paid $100 a shot due to the doctors not being on the insurance plans.

I would check either the embassy web site or the NVC web site for more information and answers. I'm not sure if this applies to you, but make sure your doctor meets the required qualifications.
