I received a notification saying that they need further evidence (RFE) because the info I sent was not updated. Of course it was not updated because they took over a year to reply!!!! #######!!!

So now I just put together more evidence (joint 2018 taxes, joint lease agreement, joint credit card, joint savings... I hope this time they don't ask for more bullshit!!!!

Anybody in the same situation RFE?

Also they made me redo the biometrics about a month ago. This people are ridiculous

I received my 18 months extension letter on 7/18/2018 for my I-751. My green card expired on 9/19/2018.

Since then, I have been in and out of the country 3 or 4 times. Never a problem at customs. The only thing is that the machines at customs won't print the ticket because it shows that the green card is expired but when I show it to the person at customs there is no problem. When I do the check in at the airport I also have to show the extension to the airline's staff doing the check in but that's about it.

I am just curious because I didn't receive any other communication since then (no biometrics yet). Is it normal?

My fiancee's POE was in Seattle on Sunday, April 10, 2016. She filed for social security number the following day Monday and had no problems either. The reason we filed for it is we need it for marriage license application by April 30, 2016. She checked computer while holding and staring at my filipino fiancee's K-1 Visa and told us everything looks good and we would receive it within two weeks.

Hello, are you sure about that? I read in many places that you don't need to have a SSN to get married, you can do it whether before or after with K1 visa. Can someone clarify this?

Looks like there is a new I-864 form because all the example forms I found are older version.

In this new one you have to include household size.

In my case my wife is sponsoring me, so the total household size should be 2 people for us.

But look at the document attached, it is Part 5 of the I864, the trouble is with number 3.

What are they saying to include a 1 if I am married in the NOT sponsored in this affidavit? Should I just write 0?

The NVC will send your case to the embassy in your country. Meanwhile the only thing you can do is WAIT.

Once the embassy receives the package, they will send you what is called Package 3 with all the details to continue the process. This package 3 usually involves documents such as DS160, police record, Affidavit of support, birthday certificate... If you want you can start getting the docs in advance, there is no harm in it. But you will receive the official list of documents with Package 3.

Payment of fees instructions are in the package 3 (it is something like 250€). Medical exam is done before your interview (after receiving package 4, also about 200€).

Each country is different so I recommend you to wait and follow the instructions from the embassy letter.

Once I get my SSN, I will open a bank account together with my fiancée in the US.

I am looking for ways of transferring my savings (in Euros) to the new account in USD.

If I do it through the bank it will be a rip off in terms of exchange rate so I was thinking about companies like Western Union, Xendpay, TranferWise... Do you recommend any of those? I tried before Xendpay but with small amounts and always worked all right.

Also, if the amount I want to transfer is high, am I obliged to pay taxes or declare something or I can just transfer as much as I want?

Yes sorry, the company is French but they have a subsidiary in the US, so I would be helping their staff in the US through the French one

Regarding the tradeshow question, let me reformulate the question to make it easier:

- Can I attend a trade show in the US as exhibitor but NOT get paid by the US company in VWP?

- Can I attend a trade show in the US as exhibitor but NOT get paid by the US company in a K1 visa?

(I have a cooperation contract with a French company, not US company, but the trade show is in the US)

Your K1 visa interview will occur at an overseas US Dept. of State (DOS) embassy/consulate. There are no US DOS embassy/consulates in the US.

Agree with Boiler regarding the VWP permissible travel. Review this DOS link regarding Travel Purposes Not Permitted on Visa Waiver Program (VWP): http://travel.state.gov/content/visas/en/visit/visa-waiver-program.html To have immigration intent and use the VWP could be considered immigration fraud, and could result in immigration issues later on.

Yes but my biggest fear is that most likely I won't be able to schedule it until mid January (hopefully before) because I am still waiting for the package 3. Then even if I do the interview on the 15th Jan for example, they will take my passport and I don't know for how long, maybe 5 days, maybe 2 weeks and then I would lose the tradeshow and the airplane ticket...

My K1 status is the following: I am pending Spanish embassy to send me at home Package 3. The tradeshow is at the end of January, still 1 month and a half to go, I believe I will have an interview date by then.

And I am working for a Spanish consultant company and the US company needs my services in a specific tradeshow. I know I am not allowed to work when I enter with a K1 visa but I will be working for a Spanish company, not US company. I can still do my own job even it is from US if I am employed by a Spanish company right?

The tradeshow is only for a few days, but if I am lucky to have the K1 visa by then I will just enter and start the AOS process but I will be attending that trade show, is that ok?

I will be travelling to the US because I cooperate with a US company that wants me to help them for a trade show. This trade show will be during the same dates as I expect to do my K1 interview. If I can do it before in Spain fine (even I am worried about the delivery time of the passport after the interview). In case the interview cannot be scheduled until after that tradeshow, can I travel to US and just get the interview done inside US so I don't need to travel back to Spain only for the interview?

What do you think? Are there other options to avoid travelling back and forth just for the interview?

I read in other topics that you should wait until you have your Green Card to apply for a driving license. But I will need to buy a car before that, right after entering to the US with my K1 visa. Anyone knows if I am elligible to buy a car under my name?

I know I can drive legally but not sure how the buying and registering a car works.

My fiancée could be the legal owner of the car but when I get the actual driving license I would need to pay a large amount of taxes to put it in my name so I don't want to do that.

I will be living in California state.

Also, anyone knows how is the driving license test? Do I need to pass a written exam and a behind the wheel test again?

EAD and AP can be filed with expedite requests. Should the company provide documentation that shows you are employed in your native country and will transfer to the U.S. subsidiary, you may have a chance at an expedited case. Look at the timelines and you can see someone with an expedite request recently got their approval in two weeks time from the filing date.

Thank you Tarzan, I researched further about the expedite requests and that sounds like a good option. The company can issue a letter saying that they need to employ me in the USA as soon as possible and it should be fine to get it faster.

I am in the process to get the K1 Visa (sponsored by my US citizen fiancée, I am from Spain).

I recently received the NOA2 (still 2 or 3 months to go until I get the K1, I know).

I got hired by a French company that has an American subsidiary in California. They are aware of my Visa process situation, so they cannot hire me through the American subsidiary since I get the EAD after I get married. This job will involve A LOT of travelling outside the US. As far as I know, when you apply for AOS (Green Card) you can also apply for EAD and AP. My question is, how long does it take to have validated these 2 documents so I can start performing properly my job and travelling outside the US? How long will I be stuck in the US after I get in with my K1 visa? At which point of the process can I legally sign the contract with the American company?
