  1. I have two-hole punched everything on the top and used Acco fasteners. This was recommended a while ago and I have kept up the practice and it never got criticized or slowed things down in any noticeable way. I don't know if recommendations have changed recently.

    Thanks for your answer manifest,

I think maybe that was a 2 hole punch reccomendation and i mixed it out with 3 holes punches.

I guess i am gonna try 2 hole punch on the top.

    Thanks.

    Best wishes. (F)

  2. Hi Guys,

I have a question about if that would be a good idea to 3 punch hole the N-400 application and the supportive avidence with it.

As i ve read a year ago before filing the I-751 that to Make the INS job easier they reccomend us to 3puchhole our files so they dont have to do that themselves them., but i cant really remember if i punched my I-751 file or not ,not sure.

I can't find the infomation about hole punching the applications in the USCIS website now., its dificult to find too much stuff has written there.

So anyways i m about to mail the N-400 its ready to go ,but the last thing i wanna know if did anyone punched 3 holes the N-400 file?? Woula that be a good idea?Appreciate your reccomendation and concerns.

    Thanks.

    Best wishes. (F)

  3. Hello,

in Nov, 2003 i have been arrested and charged with theft class 4 felony when i was interviewing by the INS officer (I-485 Adjustment of status based on Asylum). I went to the court and the judge dismissed the case and paid all the fine fees. INS asked for a court disposition and i sent it to the INS. 2 weeks later i got the Green card in the mail. I want to apply for Naturalization this year, do you think this case will delay or effect my application?

    Thanks

    HI,

    It might ......

    Best wishes.

  4. Hi Guys again,

I apologize for writing my topic to the wrong section ,but the Naturalization section is not responding , i hope to get an answer here as i've spent a lots of time on the Removal conditions section in summer and enjoyed to help and helped with the advices as well as and enjoyed the pleasant help and advices of the Removal Condition Section Members which seems more sympathetic and cooperative.

Anyways, the thing is that i am about to file my N-400 Naturalization application and was just wondering what date the Denver Disrtict office is processing the N-400 forms as THERE IS NO INFORMATION there about it.Is there is anything wrong going on with it? According to my location i am gonna file the N-400 to the Nebraska Service Center and then they suppose to transfer my file to the district office of Denver,Colorado as i am residing in Colorado.

So i can't find any information about N-400 processing in Denver,Co section and there is no infomation about it in Nebraska Service Center either. Do you guys knowo what could that be? Its so weard

    I appreciate your concern.

    Best wishes. (F)

  5. HI GUYS,

I AM BEGINNING TO WORRY ABOUT WHATS GOING ON.

I DECIDED TO CHECK THE PROCESSING DATES FOR N-400 WITH MY LOCAL DENVER OFFICE,AND THEY DONT HAVE AN INFORMATION ON N-400 AT ALL, DOES IT MEANS THEY ARE NOT PROCESSING N-400 THERE ANYMORE?

I AM GONNA TO FILE N-400 TO THE NEBRASKA SERVICE CENTER ACCORDING TO THE RULES AND THEN THE N-400 SHOULD BE TRANSFERED TO THE LOCAL OFFICE DENVER,CO. ,BUT NEBRASKA IS NOT PROCESSING THE N-400 APPLICATIONS EITHER. DO YOU GUYS KNOW WHATS GOING ON?...

    THANKS.

  6. Hi everyone!

I have a question concerning the filing N-400 Fee ,The Naturalization guide indicates that the cost of the Application is $330 and that the $ 70 biometrics fee might be asked later. So do i have to write a check for $330 only and then wait till they ask to send the $70 dollars biometric fee?... Or should i just write the $ 400 on check which gonna cover the application cost and the biometrics fee. ..... Or should i write 2 separate checks $330 -applicaiton and $70-bometrics fee ?...

The total fee cost gonna be $ 390? or $400? Why does the guide idicates $390? It cant be $390 it should be $400 as $330 plus $ 70 gonna be $400. I am confused..

Do i also need to include the New Affidavits from friends and family members again?

Do i need to include the new pictures of my husband and i together again too?

    Thanks.

    Best wishes.

    Hello,

I applied for my citizenship in May 2006 and had the ceremony in October 2006. With the N-400 form I included payment for the full amount and never had any issues. If you dont include the biometric payment its going to add delays to your citizenship process if not denial for insufficient funds.

    Hi Rshilshtut,

    Thanks for your reply.

But wats the filing fee $390 or $400? Should we write a single chck or 2 separate ones as for the applicaton fee and the bometrics fee?

Did you fiel the Affidavits and Pictures again with your N-400?

    Thanks.

  8. They did not ask for mine... maybe it depends, or maybe that's an old requirement.
Thanks MJA... a friend called me today and told me that last he filed N4OO and they asked for his tax returns... do they still do that? Do I need to get them togther for the past 5 years?

You may or may not be asked to show your past 5 year tax returns at the time of interview. But I would suggest to get them together and take it with you. You dont lose anything if the IO does not ask for it. But if you dont take them and IO asks for it, it will delay your case. People have mentioned being asked for documents during their interviews which were not listed in the interview letter. I have my interview in 3 days on 01/12/07 and I am taking more documents than asked but they have been asked from other people during their interviews; better safe than sorry.

    HI!

Could you please post thewhole list of the documents you are taken on an interview .

    I appreciate your concern.

    Thanks.

  9. Hi Everyone,

I came back in board again since the long absence for the reason of being too busy,

I have a question about the N-400 filing.

I am gonna file the N-400 application in a week and so stressed out about that as i absolutely dont have any time to read the instructions and etc... because i am working too hard .

I would appreciate if someone would help me out a little bit and on my few questions.

    1) What do i need to include with the N-400 based on Marriage?

should i include the same type of stuff whcij was filed with the I-751 Form -Evidence of that we are still married and residing together?

    2) Do i need to include the New Pictures of my Husband and I together as an Evidence of the marriage continuocy and do we Need to Prepare The New Affidavits form different friends and family members again?

    3) After i file the N-400 whats gonna be next? Am i gonna receive any NOA receipt ? and then ny other receipts?

    I appreciate your concern.

    Best Wishes.

    Sincerely.

    T.

  10. At all the other stages along the immigration road, K-1, K-3, AOS, AP, Removal of Conditions, there were sign posts, things we were all waiting for and/or asking about. I don't see much of that on the Citizenship Forum. So I'm asking, what happens after filing the N-400? Do we check the mail daily for an NOA? What about RFE's? And of course no step would be complete without Biometrics. Or do we just wait for notification of an interview date? Does that happen within the 90 day period before eligibility or can we relax and know we have at least three months before anything is going to happen?

And they say there is no such thing as a dumb question.

HI! That would be a very interesting to know. Please someone answer this question. Its a very good question.

  11. I am glad to report that she was approved. There were extenuating circumstances. My wife and her daughter are living in Portland Oregon while her daughter gets established in college. The marriage is good, it's just that we had an opportunity to get her daughter into a good educational system and we decided that it was the best thing to do. I go there every 6 months for a week because I cannot leave my 87 year old father alone in Puerto Rico any longer than that.

So...we had to file our taxes separately.

We had reported their moving to Oregon and marked it as temporary on the AR-11.

We decided that the best strategy was to put all the cards on the table. Let the interviewing officer review everything and not hold any paperwork back. We decided what our reply would be when we were asked if we are living together.

Our appointment was called on time and we were asked to present our paperwork. Her first question was how we had met. She then asked if we had any child from our marriage. She wanted to know if we were planning to have any more children. She asked how many children each of us had from previous marriages. She wanted to know where they were living. She saw the tax return my wife filed for 2005 and asked why we were not living together. Our reply was "We have a temporary situation". She put the papers down, took off her glasses and said, "OK. Tell me everything from the beginning." My wife related the whole story of how everything came about. I kept my mouth shut and just nodded. We indicated we had documentation to back everything up from her daughter's school and her college guidance counselor but she did not ask to see them. When my wife finished, the officer took out the photographs and went through them, asking who the additional people were in the photographs. She took one photo, stapled it to the file and handed the rest back along with the CD that I had prepared. ("I like to have a picture in the file.", she said.)

She took out a form and an inkpad and asked my wife to put her fingerprint on the form in the box and said, "Give me your passport so I can mark an extension for an additional year. That's it. You are approved."

The interview lasted maybe 20 minutes at the most. It just seemed longer.

I felt we were treated fairly and given an opportunity to fully explain our position. Incidentally, the interview was conducted in spanish (My wife is from Peru.) The interviewing officer was temporaily assigned to the San Juan office to help with a backlog.

Just a note: while we were waiting to be called, 3 individuals who were there for appointments and had checked in were not there when their names were called. One showed up later. I have no idea why they would not be there waiting. The officer was not happy.

Next step is to file for citizenship!

Thanks to everyone who provided feedback and support. The suggestions and information I received here was very helpful. Honesty and full disclosure is the best policy when dealing with DHS.

    Good News!!! Congratulations!!!

    Best wishes. (F)

    Sincerely.

  12. Unless I'm missing something, is it reasonable/possible to marry before lifting of conditions take place?? Wouldn't that appear that you are just looking for a way to remain in the states.

Hi! Listen who really cares about that? Let all of us be honest that all of you no matter how much you are inlove with your second American Citizen half or whatever...all of you maybe 98% like the United States and wanna stay in this country and there is nothing bad about it. Just admit it.

She is getting married second time ., she found her real love and the upcoming baby is the prove of their love.

Well, the first marriage just didnt work out and there a lots of stories posted and ve been told that the most of the marriages like that are not gonna last long because of luck of couples knowledges and communication and etc.... Who's fault is that? Noones fault. That happens on the regular day to day bases and even with the American to American marriages,.though more rarely as the American couples were comunicating with each other for a long time before to get married.

My advice to American Citizens for avoiding the future problems and issues:

Just be logical and look at the situation clearly.

Watch who you are trying to marry to.

1)If you are and Ugly A.Citizen and he or she loks like a model dont ever marry them unless you wanna be hurt ,as the marriage gonna fail.

That never gonna last forever. Or......

    2) If you are much older like from 25 years older A.citizen then your foreign fiancee dont expect your future wife or husband to stay with you forewer as this kind of marriage gonna fail at some point as well becuase of your age difference or there are alots of other examples....

I am not trying to discriminate here really., sorry., but its better to know the truth then later be left with

    the broken hurt.

Just look at the situation logically .

    Best wishes. (F)

    Sincerely.

  13. Again off topic. Read an article last week in the Washington Post. They broke up an illegal marriage ring that was taking place at the ArlingtonCourt house. Guess the admin people tipped off the police. They foundd it odd that these couples in "love" did not sit by each other and made silly spelling errors onthe application. Turns out this illegal operation had been going on for a very long time. Not sure whats going to happen to these people, but the article did say that deportation was a strong possibility. Was an interesting read.

    Hi!

The situation you've described is an obvious Fraud as well as the couples seems even didnt know each other.

Maybe the INS is gonna go after these weardows too. ., but in the article i've read was clearly stated that the INS is only after the Multiple rings or another words More then One marriage at the same time.

They are not gonna go after those like for example if you;ve read the posts about Dmartmars story and Pursuede member story and others broken hurts .....posted in this forum...

So the INS is not gonna investigate the cases of their wifes as thats not a Fraud.

    Best wishes. (F)

    Sincerely.

  14. For you dmartmar, I just wanna let you know that my marriage with my ex husband is not a FRAUD..

Things happen in a relationship and sometimes you cannot fix it! We are friends now..

Actually who you -really- wanna let know that your marriage was not a Fraud would be the USCIS. They are the ones who will be interested in this the most, and the only ones who matter. We're just casual bystanders and observers... our opinion doesn't matter a rat's-@ss, frankly, about it.

Yeah "things" sure happen in a relationship. I guess things sure happened in your new relationship as well.

    :heh:

I'm going to assume you're already divorced since you can't marry your new BF *and father of your baby, I assume* unless you've divorced the old one.

You can file for your LPR (10 year green card) with a waiver, and your divorce decree. As dmartmar pointed out, if your ex-husband did raise red flags with the USCIS, they might investigate your case a bit deeper.

It's up to you to prove to the USCIS that you entered the first marriage in "good faith". That's between you and the USCIS, not you and your ex-, you and dmartmar, you and your new bf/husband/poppa or anyone else.

    -- Dan

    Hi Dan,

I;ve recently discovered a very interesting article in the one of the Daily News newspapers. I've read that artice about 3 weeks ago and was gonna post it in this forum but i was very busy with my job and didn thave time to get to this forum and anyways i have lost that newspaper and couldn't find it anymore.

The common sense of that article was about the Immigration Regulations.

It was said that the INS is not after those who are entering the marriage in their favor of getting something....I mean like someone marries someone and then getting divorced after getting certain types of papers.I guess the thing is that most of these marriages are real ., just the couples dont know each other very well before the marriage and some of these marriages dont work out ., thus divorce occur and that is not considered as a fraud. I know that kind of divorces happen even among the American to American Marriages a lot.

Anyways, The INS is after Only the multiple rings., that means that they are after th eReal Marriage Fraud like the person is married to multiple people at the same time.

Unfortunately i cant interpret the information excactly as it was written in that article as it was written in a very sophisticated proffesional manner., but that was a truly sense of it.

    Best wishes.

    Sincerely.

  15. Hi Im A new member here, I hope someone can give me some information.. I enter here on K1, my husband and i got divorced after more than 1 year of marriage.. My 2 yr GC will expired 2008 then i need to lift my condition... I got pregnant with my bf now and he wants to marry me, I wonder if the INS deny my application for lifting my condition alone.. what's gonna happen to me, also im gonna give birth next year and get married. Im so worried because my life is already here, my family.. :(

    Hi Darna,

Wait,as far as i know if you've got divorced you can Lift the Conditions on your own now whenever u would like now not like the 90 day before the expiration of the Conditional Card as if you were still married, thus the 90 day eligibility before the expiration of the Conditional Card is not the rule in your case now. As i said you can file the I-751 on your own at any time now., But if you gonna get married right now you guys have to refile everything all over again as the Adjustment of Status papers as you gonna have a new husband now.

So if you dont wanna to apply for the Adjustment of Status again ,wait with getting married for a while and file for the Removal of the Conditions on your own., but if you still thinking about remarrying as soon as possible just know that you will have to start doing everything from the beginning again.

Well,i guess in your case this is not an important issue and that issue is not gonna matter anyways.

So,yeah decide what you would like to do and My very Best Wishes to both of you! (F) Please talk to an attorney also.

    Sincerely.

  16. Ok I think I asked this awhile back, but read some more information about having your passport at your interview. I've sent in my N-400 (3 years date will be Jan 10th). My passport will be expiring in July and I want to get a replacement.

I am reading that during the interview, that they are looking at passports to check all the trips you have taken when you left the county. If my passport is sent out and I don't have it at the time of the interview, what will that do? I'm not sure since my actual 3 years (married) is done Jan 10th, if I can expect the interview to be after that date or not. If so I can send it in in the next month.

Anyways I don't want to be caught without it if it is something they actually look through at the interview. So just curious if it is definatly needed. If so, has anyone gotten an interview before their actual 3 years anniversery date of being a LPR?

    Hi Warlord!

I dont know how to answer on your question., but i would like to ask you if you would please keep us posted about your N-400 timeline as i Reside in Colorado myself and my local office is in Denver too.

So i am gonna apply for the Citizenship on the end of January and wundering how long does the whole process take.

You can private post notify me also . I really need to know.

    Thanks .

    Best wishes. (F)

    Sincerely.

  17. Today in the huge pile of post-holiday weekend mail, we received Niko's 10-year green card!

All told, it was roughly 5 months for us from filing the I-751 to receiving his 10-year GC using the VSC.

I just wanted to update everyone as to our timeline so you can have an idea (albeit a very very rough one!) for yourselves.

Even though he has the stamp in his passport, I was hoping it would arrive in time for our trip back to Slovenia in a week (his first time back since he moved here). Now if only I could bring more than 3oz of water with me on that transatlantic journey.....

Good luck everyone....I am sure we will be comparing timelines over in the naturalization forum next!

    Cara & Niko

    Good news!!!

    Congratulations!!!!

    Best wishes (F)

    Sincerely.

  18. Dear All,

I previously hired an attorney to adjust my wife status. In February 2007, we are due to file "lift condition" application. This time, we decided to do it on our own. Do I have to withdraw the power of attorney since the attorney was designated to act on our behalf previously? Thanks

    HI!

I dont think you need to do anything.

If u are going to file the I-751 on your own just do it and dont hire the lawyer again.

Dont mention anything in the I-751 application box for a lawayers use only i guess.

    Best wishes. (F)

    Sincerely.

  19. CherryXS,

Agreed, many (speed related) reckless driving charges can be paid in advance without a court appearance.

My line of thinking is that one "should" go to court, as you may get the charge reduced, which may result in a more friendly response from the insurance company! :)

But can one actually go to court if the fine was already advance-paid?

True that charges (as well as fines) can be reduced (or merged) if defendant pleads guilty in court--but I haven't heard of too many going to court AFTER paying the fine.

    CherryXS,

We are on the same wavelength here.

I was addressing your comment about court, not the OP's circumstances, of having already paid the fine.

By the way, you do not need to plead guilty to get charges reduced. If the Officer does not show in court for instance, case dismissed. That is what I was getting at.

In my first post, I advised the OP that court after paying the fine did not make sense. I also requested clarification on that point.

    Hello everyone!

Thank you very much for your replies.

I have just found out the reason why i went to court.

The ticket was unpaid yet and the reason why we went to court is for to plead guilty and not to have the speeding ticket on my driving record .As i wouldnt go to court the speeding ticket would be recorded and my insurance would go up .The case is gonna be dismissed in a 4 monht if i am not gonna get wny more speediong tickets. For the present time the ticket is not on my record.

In Colorado u dont have to go to the traffic school for the first speeding ticket .

Also ive been told that its very bad to get a speeding ticket in Colorado as they charge 4 points and after certain multiple speeding violation time the drivers license may be revoked.

I do hope that the speeding violation is not gonna impact on the Citizenship process.

    Best wishes. (F)

    Sincerely. (F)

    Sweetgirl,

That does not make sense. If you received a speeding ticket, allowing you to just pay a fine, no court appearance is required.

On the other hand, how fast were you going over the limit? Certain speeds exceeding the limit, usually 15-20 mph, can result in a reckless driving charge, if the police so chose to charge it that way.

These generally result in a required court appearance. This would be a misdemeanor charge. From the driving insurance perspective, not good. From the "am I in trouble" perspective, no. This is not a "criminal" offense.

Can you be more specific with the circumstances?

    Hello,

    Thanks for your reply.

Yes i was exceeding the limit by 15 mph., but seems like that was not considered as a misdemeanor charge.

The ticket was paid off after the court procedure .

    Best wishes. (F)

    Sincerely.

  20. Hello everyone!

I am concerned about the following:

I've been pulled over by the police for the driving over the limit and my husband said that we need to go to court and i still dont understand why did we have to go to court as we have paid for the ticket anyways.

It was an interesting challenge for me ,but i am concerned about if that issue would impact on my upcoming Naturalization process? Am i in trouble?

    I appreciate your concern.

    Best wishes (F)

  21. Is anybody else watching this show??

The show is driving me crazy.... Vincent has been in the bottom 2 so many times and he always manages to escape elimination..... All the clothes he makes are really strange...

They seem to only take into account the dress they design for that particular show and not what they have done so far....

Last night Vincent's dress looked horrible... just a white sheath, that the model could barely walk in, with garbage strewn all over it... at least the other girl's dress looked like she had put some thought into it... and in the past she had made very beautiful women friendly clothes

Heidi Klum is sooo beautiful and charming (L)

    I love her. (F)

    Best wishes (F)
