Does the date of letter of intent really matter? My fiance's letter is dated November 2015, and I filed this month (January 2016). It just so happened that I wanted to gather additional documents before I was ready to mail everything out. This took like 2 months. Is this a deal breaker for the k1 petition?

Well I know Lagos and I know they love call logs. So if that's all you have then do show from start of relationship to Interview. Your other communications are fine also show a sampling of that and of course your Visa stamps and for sure pics of you with friends and family.

The process I just described is how you can download call history on whatsapp.

Yes, you go to recent calls and it shows the last 3 months of call history. You can click on each individual item and it will show the call details. Since they disappear every 3 months, I screenshot each call daily and save it to my phone. In my phone's photo gallery I've created an album for each month of call history.

once u screen grabbed it, and its clear at print out. then it will be a good evidence as well.. but it cannot be your only evidence of communication on voice calls.. its not convincing enough... good luck

Thanks. I did that but the transcript turned out to be over 400 pages. So instead I just did screenshots of daily convos from the whatsapp platform. About one per week. Each screenshot shows the date (but not the year; not sure why whatsapp on I-phone doesn't show year) Hoping that works.

Go to your messages, click on their name at the top, go to 'email chat'

You can email the entire chat history (if you actually message) and print it out for the interview

I was referring to the whatsapp call logs as "evidence of talking" component of communication. In addition to that, I also provided snippets of 1 year worth of chat conversations, a few emails and handwritten letters, chats between my mom and fiance, engagement ring receipt, pictures of my 1st visit (including pics with each other's family), and images of gifts we exchanged. Does this sound sufficient? Thanks!

OK, so you have records that you two had a conversation. Can you print out exactly what you talked about? I think not.

You have to prove to a total stranger, the Embassy CO, that you have a legitimate relationship and are not trying to circumvent immigration laws or commit visa fraud.

How can you prove this without showing evidence of what you talked about?

Most relationships follow a normal evolution, IMO, there is the getting to know you stage, talk of more serious nature, more intimate or lovey-dovey talk (couples planning to get married to each other do that), talk about the visa process, talk about marriage, talk about life in the US, talk of the move to the US, planning for life in the US, etc.

All your evidences, when viewed together, should show snippets of each stage and should tell the story.

Your Embassy is very hard on K-1s and front-loading with relationship evidence should be done.

Start using other mediums for communication where you can show what you talk about. Emails are great.

My fiance and I use whatsapp voice calls since it is free as long as you are connected to wifi. Has anyone been successful in obtaining a k1 visa with "whatsapp calling" as your prime means of communication evidence? Not sure if Lagos requires actual phone bill records that document your calls to each other. Each whatsapp call record shows my fiance's number, the name I have saved for him, the date, time and duration of call. I screenshoted each record. Thanks!

Hi, I had similar concerns. What if my fiance is from a high-risk country, say - Nigeria. Would you then front-load with alot of relationship evidence? If so, what types?

I wouldn't spend thousands of dollars to go visit someone and vice versa, if I wasn't serious about something working out, you know?

Not if the potential immigrant was giving you a kick-back for your "cost".

Your argument that you wouldn't have spent all this time and money is proof enough of a relationship is all wrong.

That being said, he's not from a high fraud country, so the proof you will need should be quite low. Showing that you've traveled to each other's countries and met family and friends is great.

However, I would still suggest you do some other means of communications, sometimes, where you can document what you are talking about.

You should be talking about the visa process and then his new life in the US and what planning is needed for that.

I heard the so called red flags people talk about here and I was approved, my wife is much older than me and face time was just once since 2013,so my advice is just pray and believe in ur marriage. thanks everyone

Thanks. This is actually the 1st time hearing that we are allowed to have fiance sign and scan in g325a!! I thought we had to have a physical signature in ink! Has anyone else had positive experience using this method?

I had my fiance print out the document, sign it, and scan it back to me. I printed it here and it was regular sized paper. We did this with both the G-325A as well as the Intent to marry. Our petition was approved with no issues.

A4 is very commonly used outside North America (in fact, I do believe with the exception of the US, Canada & Mexico, most of the world uses A4 as the standard paper size) so that shouldn't be a problem (from personal experience with our CR1 process: no RFE for us for using A4 to print a G325A -- our I-130 was approved).

I also got longer paper from her (letter of intent and g-325), nothing was "off". I actually thought it was better to have it in different size, USCIS will "know" I didn't print and singed it

Two questions about the g325 form:

1) When my fiance mailed his signed g235a form to me, i noticed it was a different size paper than the usual 8.5 by 11. Looks like he printed it as a PDF on size A4 paper. Due to the longer length, the format and sizing of the form looks a bit off. Not sure if A4 sized paper is more common in other countries. Has anyone received an RFE for submitting a g325a form on a different size paper?

2) For boxes that do not apply, leave them blank or write N/A? I've heard mixed reviews about this. I even called USCIS and the lady on the phone said to write N/A and don't leave anything blank. While the g-325a instructions do not specify, the i-129F instructions clearly says "If the item does not apply to you, leave the space blank". CONFUSED!

Our I-129F was just approved yesterday. I sent in passport photos that she had taken abroad and they were 2 inches high but less than 2 inches wide. I thought for sure we would get an RFE but we did not.

I think the reason is that they will require ANOTHER PP photo at the US embassy and that is the one that must fit correctly in the VISA which is then attached for formed to the passport.

So bottom line you can get another 2x2 now if you want just in case. Did you already send in the I-129F?

True. But I know different countries may have different specs for what they consider a passport style photo. That is why I wanted to make sure, so as not to get a RFE from USCIS.

You shouldn't need to know the semantics. As long as she told whoever she went to to get the pic that it needed to be a passport photo & they said OK, it should be fine. Assuming that the place does passport pics, them saying OK would be indicative of the fact that they know what they're doing.

Ok, Thanks! So in your case, the second visit didn't make a difference because they never asked your fiancé when was the last time you visited him? In other words, they would've approved you anyway based on the information they had on file and his interview. Right?

my fiance observed that questions they ask question base on the filing you did. and they can ask u questions based on how u respond to the first question. most important dress nice for the interview. if u can make the interview pls do. if they denied him, u can walk inside the embassy to know why, you have the right as US citizen. also u can have more fun with him. its up to u guys though

It's totally up to you. I went during interview and they never asked my fiancé anything about the last time we saw each other face to face! Everything went great. Hope all goes well for you!

We've been dating for a year now and have a year's worth of chat records and phone logs, plus pictures of first trip. Any advice will be helpful.

Before the interview gives you more solid relationship evidence.

During the interview he can say (while handing over your passport to the CO) My fiance is waiting outside and would like to know if she can

be present during the interview. They will likely say no but at least they know she is around.

In this case he can also submit the most recent relationship evidence and new photos etc, sometimes they just go by what you have

already submitted and front loaded in your petition and reject looking at newer evidence and still refuse to issue the visa.

It is a tough call to make to go before or during and you know how much evidence you have or still could generate.

If you do not have enough evidence before you may be denied but if you are on the premises during the interview then you can

immediately start to troubleshoot should something go wrong.

Really, the best would be to go both times or take your chances with either before or during.

Preparing to submit k1 petition packet for fiance. I met him in person for the first time when I traveled to Lagos this fall. I want to visit him again next spring while the case is processing. Is it better to visit before the interview (springtime) or during the interview. I understand that I would not be allowed in the interview room.

I can only afford to make one trip next year due to limited vacation days at work. So I wanted to figure out if there is a preferred time according to the experience of others. Would it make a difference? Thanks for the help!

I say go for it! The person I reference is a Friend of mine who is no longer using this site. I can get the more info from my Fiancé. I also want to say that I had only visited my Fiancé once and I planned to be there for his interview and the man that interviewed him didn't even ask how many we had saw each other or if I was in the Country on the day of the interview. We didn't have any face time but lots of pictures and chats and not just pictures of the two of us but pictures with his family and friends. So I say go for it. Plan to be there for his interview if you can. With God all things are possible!

If one of my parent's is deceased, do I indicate that in the section for "City and country of residence"? or do I put the last place they lived before they passed?? Thanks!
