I was helping my fiance fill out the d-160 form online since he didn't have access to a computer. I didn't realize until after i hit submit, that I should've had him submit it on his own. I am totally lost. Should we start all over with a new d-160 application?

I've seen somewhere that interviews are scheduled 60 - 90 days from the time you request one, but have heard stories of those who were able to secure an interview sooner than that.
If someone were to schedule request/book an interview today, how soon would they expect to get an interview?
Thanks.

1) For purposes of k1 visa, how do you answer question #11 which asks you to check "intend" or "do not intend" to make specific contributions to support the applicant?
2) Is it still OK to use the current version of the i-134 form even though it expires 2/29/2016?
-
I'm sorry! I meant to say you have 9 months total to get married once granted a visa, correct?
No you have 90 days total to get married once you enter the US, and your visa will have 6 months validity from the date of the medical for you to enter the US
-
Thanks! So in total, you have 90 days to get married once granted your visa, correct?
The K1 visa stamped in your passport will expire 6 months after the medical. Within that time frame, you must enter the US. And when you enter the US you need to get married within 90 days.
For example, suppose you enter the US with 1 day left before your visa stamp expires, you still have 90 days from the date you enter to marry.
-
I understand that the k1 expires in 6 months. Does that mean you have 6 months to get married, or 6 months to leave your country and move to U.S. I understand that once you enter U.S. you must get married in 3 months. Just need clarification. Thanks!

Two questions about the consulate in Lagos and K1 processing:
1) once your status in CEAC says Ready, do you go ahead and fill out the actual visa application and pay the GTB Bank fee? Or, do you wait until you hear from the embassy directly with instructions? I've heard some say you shouldn't wait to hear from embassy, but then others say they scheduled interview on their own and found out they weren't in the system once they arrived at the embassy. Just need clarification.
2) for K1 visas, what is the actual fee? Is it $265 or $230 or both?? I'm familiar with the $265 GTB Bank fee but the automated email from U.S. Consulate in Lagos says "All K-1 and K-3 visas must pay a $230US immigrant visa application fee. The K-1 and K-3 fee may be paid at the U.S. Consulate General Lagos on the day of your interview."
Can someone who has successfully been through this process please clarify these two matters! Thanks!

Thanks. How soon did you get an email from embassy?
I did schscheduled my interview, but on the dayof interview, my name was not found on the kist of names neither was it rreflecting on thw system. I was told to wait for an email from embassy to schedule myaappointment.

For Lagos, Does anyone know the approximate time it takes to be given an interview date from the time your case status says, "IN TRANSIT" to the U.S. Consulate.
1) At what point should you expect to hear from the U.S. Embassy in Lagos.
2) How soon should you expect an interview?
3) How recent do the i-134 (affadavit of support + supporting documents like letter from employer, letter from bank, recent pay stubs) need to be dated?
Thanks!

Hi Ebunoluwa:
What do you mean by K3 is obsolete and will be administratively closed at NVC and one would follow the CR1 path? This is the first time I'm hearing this. Does this apply to k1 as well? Are you able to provide further info/source on this statement? Thanks!
K3 is obsolete, the I-129 F will be administratively closed at NVC and you will follow the CR1 path (I-130).
You barely give any information at all so it's hard to guess where you are at in the process.
An approved petition can be returned to USCIS with recommendation to revoke if the CO feels you don't have a genuine relationship.
A returned K1 would expire. A CR1 would give you a second chance with a rebuttal after receiving a NOID/NOIR, an appeal will be useless
for either one.

Thanks dWheels76:
My reason for asking is because I plan on visiting my fiance for the 2nd time sometime before his interview. Do you think it makes sense for me to schedule my visit during his interview OR before the interview? Although I understand the U.S. petitioner is not allowed in the embassy, I was told it could help the case if I'm on the premises. That is why I'm trying to get a sense of when his interview may be scheduled.
Well Blessing you are K1 which means you select your own interview date. To be ahead of it all. After NOA2 in about a week start calling NVC to get your Case#, IIN. Once you have that you can go and pay the Visa fee at GTB bank and than you can create your account on the website, You should be gathering all your documents soon as you get NOA2. Your affidavit of support you can have done now.
Look at the Consular info page here on VJ click on portal takes you to Nigeria.
Your date is all up to you. Have no idea how far out the schedule starts. Good luck.
-
Thanks. What should the petitioner do in the meantime after receiving NOA2? Wait until they hear from NVC?
About 2-3 months depending on how busy they are.
-
Wow. Do you have any idea why you are in AP? Did they collect your passport at the interview?
We applied for our i-130 in May 4th 2015. our interview was Feb. 4, 2016 in Lagos Nigeria. We been in AP since the interview.
-
Hi everyone. Does anyone know the approximate time it takes from NOA2 to interview date in Lagos? I understand the file will need to be sent to nvc first, then to the u.s. Embassy in Lagos. After which, the beneficiary will be sent some info and eventually given an interview date. How long should one expect this process to take? Thanks.
-
Hi,
Where would you find your estimated date??
Nice one, it should give you an estimated date, I would think around 26th Feb?
Remember that's still assuming 40 days or so average, but it looks to be slightly longer now; I guess with Christmas/New Year backlog? or more people filling after the New Year/Christmas proposal influx?
Join the Jan Fillers thread, that'll help you stay up to speed on the over all average acceptance times.
Think we've only had 1 or 2 so far, and they've been around 45(?)days, latest I've seen was from 6th Jan.

Hi Baron555,
Can you please explain how flying to your fiance's country during his/her interview can help in getting approval?
Is this better than visiting your fiance (for 2nd visit) prior to the interview (in between the NOA1 and interview date)?
Thanks!
-
Congratulations to you and your hubby! For those of us who are still going through the process, can you provide a summary of what the interview was like? Also, was there a specific reason you were under AP? Thanks!
-
Really?? Because the I-129F instructions say to label each additional sheet, date and sign it.
You won't get an RFE for not signing the attachment sheet as long as the form itself is signed.
-
For the Supplement to question 34a. in the i-129F, I typed a one page story on how we met. I totally forgot to sign and date the bottom of this sheet. Is this grounds for a RFE? If so, how long after you respond to your RFE should you expect to get approval? Does your application then go back to square one, or do they save your spot in the pile????
-
Congrats. Can you do a review on your interview experience?
-
Spent 3 weeks together during the visit.
US Citizen can certainly enter the Embassy, but immigrant interviews are handled by the Consulate.
How much time have you spent together, you mentioned you have only met once.
-
I submitted both just in case.
-
So I just submitted my I-129f petition and I realized I did not sign and date the bottom of my attached sheet for question 34- statement on how we met. Is this a basis for an RFE???!

My photobook that contained pics of me and my fiancé was sent back, with a letter saying the format was not able to be processed with my file. Does anyone know what this means? It was basically a photobook you get made at cvs, with hardcover binding. Has anyone had their photobook or photo album returned from a k1 petition? Fortunately, I also sent in additional pics on regular paper so hopefully that will satisfy the requirement for evidence of meeting.
