    Was your check cashed?

Did you get appointment for fingerprints (biometrics)?

Yes if it’s lost, unless the mail carrier you used can find it, then you will need to redo the paperwork and start waiting again.

My check hasn’t been cashed.  I’m starting to believe it was lost when it arrived or in the mail.

I wash hoping someone who’s had this happen to them can help.

    Do not open it !,

Yes, the manila envelope is the one which must remain intact and without tampering. It is presented at POE.

I suggest you get a larger envelope and slip ths manila envelope inside that for protection.

He called the embassy today, and the Manila envelope that isn't supposed to be open is actually inside of this one, along with his new passport.

He opened it and sure enough, it's a separate envelope inside.

  3. My fiance lives in Valencia, and he would have to go to Caracas to do all that stuff!

Everything you're telling me is so useful!

    Any other tips?

Greenbaum, thank you for that lol, that's where I got all my info from and it surprises me also XD

NVC received my file about 2 weeks after NOA2, I started calling at 2 weeks and had Case number at 2.5 weeks out. Then it took about a week or so for status to change to "Ready". If you read the Venezuela embassy info here on VJ (It was last updated like a year or two ago :( so now everything is different I guess?) but it says there that you have to email the embassy since apparently they will NOT automatically send you anything (I found this part the oddest lol). However, there is no official information about this on any government website zzz I got in contact with other people going through our embassy and they have been extremely helpful (we have to stick together! XD) I emailed them on friday and still have not heard back (other people said they got a response in 1-2 days). However, me and my fiance just went forward with the process :hehe::oops: *Disclaimer, I have no idea if we should not have done this, so I really hope it doesn't blow up in our faces lol, we were being so impatient :(

but you could for sure set up your account through traveldocs and start filling out the DS-160 (you don't have to submit it right away and it takes a little while to fill out so I would probably start it now and you have 30 days to submit it or you have to start over) I have no idea what packet 3 actually contains since we haven't gotten it, but when we got the confirmation email for our appointment, it had a list of everything we needed to bring (which can be found on the embassy website with detail) so you could also start gathering those things now (like affidavit of support and evidence of ongoing relationship).

As for the medical and police report (I hope you/your fiance lives in or near Caracas because you have to go in person there for BOTH <_< ) but I believe if you go to the embassy website and do some digging you will find all the information about the medical with a list of doctors and addresses and such, I believe as of now there are only two doctors you can go to. All in all, if you do a lot of digging and jumping from link to link on the embassy website and traveldocs, you will find basically ALL the info you need.

    Good luck!

  4. I wonder how my fiancé can book his medical, because he needs to ASAP. Did they give you a list of certain doctors you could go to, or how did go about doing that?

-Gathered all the things needed on the checklist (got the checklist from someone else from my country so I'd know all these things before getting my own checklist). Filled out DS-160, got the police certificate and so on.

    -Booked Medical

-Finally got the case number 30 days after NOA2 by calling NVC

-Waited for the embassy to get in contact with me (the checklist -packet 3 or whatever you call it)

  5. I already sent off my I-129F and other documents.

I made sure to make copies of everything I had and was storing it in desk.

Unfortunately, it's been raining A LOT lately where I live and my office space was the only one affected.

All my paperwork is ruined along with my laptop that had all electronic copies.

I read that you have to send an exact copy of it again for something else (can't recall), and take one for the interview.

    Any advice?

  6. Yes, you messed up. Each petition instructions have very clear instructions who to write the check to, for some reason people don't read them...

I was on my phone at the bank on the website and I couldn't find anything there. I went through many links and still couldn't find it.

It wasn't until I got home and got on my computer that I was able to find it (after I saw it on visajourney).

It's fixable, I called the bank and they said I could take the check tomorrow and have it adjusted.

  7. My finance needed to have documents translated for his interview. He sent me a pdf, I had it translated and sent the certified translated document back to him. I used Global Language Services. I emailed the document to Global, they quoted me the price and I paid by credit card. They then mailed the document to me. There are also other translation services online and if you live in near a big city there are probably local translation services.

This seems like an awesome idea!

  8. Hi guys, I'm currently in the process of filing the petition to get married.

One problem I have run into is that I know certain documents need to be translated. Unfortunately, my SO is from Venezuela where it can be very difficult to have them certified professionally. To do that an appointment needs to be done weeks or months ahead, especially with the situation becoming worse there. Would it be okay for him to do it himself? Hes fluent in English and would have no trouble doing so.
