  1. Happy happy birthday and anniversary Kathryn :)

Im a firm believer that figuring out the language of the digi cams requires a degree from MIT. I have a great camera but its wasted on me as I dont know what half the settings mean

  2. Actually USCIS now has a policy that if you go through with K3, then they automatically assume that you will AOS and will not forward your I-130 to the NVC for a CR-1 unless you file a form that tell them differently with a $240 price tag which adds more time to the process.

With the increase in fees for AOS as of July 30, I would think long and hard about going through with a K3.

In this case her I-130 has already been forwarded and is processing at the NVC, so going ahead with the K-3 wouldn't affect that process. The only risk involved here is having interviews scheduled around the same time( at 2 different consulates) and potentially spending the 100 bucks on the k-3 and not needing it.

  3. there's no reason to abandon your CR-1 at all. You can go ahead and get the k-3 in Vancouver if you want to and then go to Montreal for the CR-1. There is a chance that you'll get both interviews around the same time but in that event you could just go ahead and cancel the k-3 at Vancouver and fly to Montreal.

My husband just got his k-3 in May and we're still doing the CR-1 in Montreal........we too are hoping to hear that its complete at the NVC in the next few weeks.

  4. whatever will be will be.......relax and if by some chance something comes up tomorrow , you'll figure out a plan B........no sense stressing about what you dont know.

    Good Luck !!!!!

  5. I think ...........if it were me ........I would put my new address on anything filled out

We were in the market.......Rideau Center.......Westin etc the day the Sens won their conference............how FUN!!! It was awesome to see everyone so happy.... people hugging strangers......everyone was family that day. Dont get me wrong the Sens are certainly not my team but it was really neat to see them make it :) and I am cheering for them in the finals.

I get goosebumpy during every pre-game singing of Oh Canada , the way the entire crowd sings.....very cool Canada VERY cool!!!!

  6. So sorry Daryll!!

Sounds like you had the same guy my husband had. My husband's visa was held up initially because he wasnt released from the military as of the date of his interview. The day7 of the interview he was told approved but then received a phone call the next day saying they couldnt issue it until he was released. The guy was super apologetic and my husband said you could tell how badly he felt about the whole thing.

My husband faxed release papers on the 10th and the visa was issued on the 16 th of May. So if I had to bet money...that guy is pretty good about doing what he said he would do. :)

The person who replies to email is out to lunch and clueless though !!!

  7. Thanks everyone :)

ya know , we've actually come to expect every step along this path to be an issue.......people not knowing their jobs etc..........and its not just with the govt, it's everywhere. A really sad statement I think and it really makes me wonder how our modern society remains as functional as it is when so few actually know what policy is ,proper procedures etc or even bother to care to find out.

Such is life in a modern world I spose :)

  8. lolololol

now he just told me they almost gave him an EAD stamp.

looking at the passport stamp , it has all the info the I-94 would have .......I suppose if a person were to need an arrival/departure record ( which is all the I94 is) , this stamp could suffice

  9. Oh dear... he should have received an I-94. Though if he's going back to Montreal for the CR-1, then I wouldn't worry too much about it since he is not filing AOS and EAD (which asks for a copy of the I-94 and the number).

Well, at least he's there with you!

When they stamped his passport, they did put down the 2 year date right? That it's only valid for 2 years? I got the stamp and the I-94.

they stamped his passport and then wrote k-3, the 2 yr validity date and his A#

  10. Sooo Hubby activated his k-3 yesterday at Sarnia/Port Huron. He arrived home about 5:30 pm and I immediately asked " well how 'd it go?"

he said " well they're f**king idiots there"

    "oh no why" I asked

    He goes on to say,

" well 1st of all when I pulled up at the booth I informed the guy I had a k-3 to activate and he grilled me like Ive never been grilled before.

Then I go inside say I have a k-3 and the the guy in there says 'oh you're engaged' ....no Im married.......'no you're engaged' ........NO Im married <guy opens a manual> ' Oh yeah you're married'."

Then I guess some chic took over and she wore the tile out running to another room to ask questions. All in all 7 people dealt with it and it took about an 1 hour and 45 minutes. In the end they said " ok this is good for a year"

hubby says " no its good for 2 years"

    them: " no , a year"

    hubby: " NO ITS 2"

    them:<opens manual> "oh yeah it's 2"

He didn't get an I-94 either.....they said they don't do them anymore .......they stamped his passport though.......I hope that was right.

Anyway he made it home safe and sound. We had a great dinner and retired to the couch to watch hockey and drink Keith's............Life's good.
