OMG guys!!!!!!! A couple days ago I received a phone notice that my Removal of Residence was approved, so it seems that it got approved without requiring an interview. Then yesterday I got the mail notice, which I was expecting to be a printed form telling me that my i-751 was approved and that they would be sending the green card soon... I almost didn't read it.... LOL

TO MY SURPRISE, the form said that they also approved my N-400 and that they will not send me a green card as I will just need to take the Oath and get my naturalization certificate instead! WOW. I didn't even need to go for an interview and do the test! I assume because of the COVID they might want to do social distancing, so they might be sending approvals to a lot of people to help reduce the backlog.

So I applied for the Naturalization 90 days before the expiration of my temp green card, so I think this doesn't put you on ahead of other people, because my approval time has been on par with people that has similar expiration dates to mine. I applied on January 26 of 2019, but my expiration date was April 26 of 2019. You can check my timeline for comparisons, I always put updates there.

Here is what the notice says for those who want to know how they phrased it:

"We have approved your I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence. Our records also indicate we have approved your form n-400, Application for Naturalization, Because we also approved your N-400, you will not receive a new Permanent Resident Card (also known as Green Card). Instead, once you have taken the Oath of Allegiance, you will receive a Certificate of Naturalization, which will be proof of you U.S Citizenship. If you have question regarding this process, please contact USCIS."

    Yey!!

    WOW. Just WOW.

No interview for N400??? JUST WOW. I actually have a pretty much the same N400 filling date as you. Jan 31- 2019. I was supposed to go to the interview Feb 17 but they didn't have my case back and de-schedule  it. Now I am really curious if I would get approved without interview as well. Congrats! This is truly great news. I have  never heard you can get approved N400 without interview. I guess this COVID thing really made history.

I came in 45 minutes early. They were not kidding, they asked me to come back  after 15 minutes. I did not have to go out, just wait on the new applications waiting room.
My schedule is 10:10. I went up the stairs, turn right. (Left is the oath-takers waiting area). I got interviewed about 11:30. There were people there waiting since 8:30. My wife went up with me. She waited at the waiting area.

Interview, was not what I was expecting. It was text-book interview. Very emotionless. Most of the time was taken by verification of information on the application, and the yes-no questions.
The "English test" took less than 30 seconds. The civics took maybe a minute.

    Questions:
    What is freedom of religion?
Name one state that borders Canada.
What ocean is on the East Coast of the United States?
How many U.S. Senators are there?
    When was the constitution written?
When must all men register for the Selective Service?

After than, I was asked if I wanted to take the oath at 2:30 pm. I said yes. I went out for lunch, went back at 1:30. Went up, turned left, found a sit. At 2:30, they asked families to go down the auditorium to find a sit. They asked the oath-takers to form a line on the left and right, because there were two people who would take the oath-taking schedule form as well as the green card. They also gave the citizen "started pack" as well as a small flag. We went down to the auditorium as soon as they give the packs, and then the star spangled banner. People were called to stand up as soon as they hear their country of origin, and then the oath. As we sat down, we were US citizens. Finally, the pledge of allegiance and the certificate was handed one at a time.
