Hi all,

I had my interview today. It was somewhat of an oniric, confusing experience. It took place in an old warehouse building: stained carpet, holes in the wall, assorted array of seats (from plastic, to cushioned, to painfully wooden). I was called in 30 minutes after my appointment. The interview itself lasted no more than 3 minutes. The interviewer went over my N400 as a way of pressured speech, and I answered very rapidly as well. The test was administered the same way.

At the end, she recommended my case for approval to her superior who sat quite literally in the next cubicle, and who reviewed it one last time for approximately 10 minutes. He then stood up, gave me my Oath letter and shook my hand.

Oath will be on March 25th.

It's been a good day indeed.

I have finally been scheduled for an interview– exactly 3 months after having been placed in line for one and one day after a 30 minute telephone inquiry with USCIS.

It feels great to move forward.

I've been in line for interview for ~3 months.

We are in the same boat, not received interview letter yet, and even the status of the case on website is not updated after FP on Sep 3rd.

Aggravated by having been in line for an interview for nearly 3 months, I finally decided to call USCIS/NBC to see what was up with my case and hopefully, wishfully, maybe have it pushed forward. Instead, a very nice lady informed my that my local office (in Lowell, MA) is currently working on cases filed on June 6th and advised me to call them again after the 15th, as this information is updated monthly. It looks like my naturalization journey will be longer than I expected...

That's awful. If Lawrence is backed up that much then they should move you to Boston or Albany or somewhere.

I agree, that would be the optimal thing to do. However, I am starting to consider the possibility that it may have nothing to do with USCIS. The USCIS Policy Manual specifies that, "The FBI name check must be completed and cleared before an applicant for naturalization is scheduled for his or her naturalization interview." It could also be the case that I am still at the name check stage. I will get in contact with the FBI tomorrow to check on this hypothesis.

its been 40 days since they sent us 'in line' - and nothing scheduled.

Not that we care as we have no travel planned etc, but still - it feels bad to be waiting.

I received a msg from USCIS on OCT 2, 2015 saying that my case is inline for interview scheduling. I have not received any updates since then, can anyone advise as to how long it might take for the status to change from inline for interview scheduling to "interview scheduled" date ? I live in Ventura County, CA so I guess my file should be processed in San Fernando Valley Office, CA.

My status was updated to "In Line for Interview" on September 17th. It will be 2 months (61 days) since then tomorrow, and I have started to lose hope that my case will be completed within the 5 months processing time that the Massachusetts Office indicates. I don't mind traveling with my current passport, but it does make me rather «uneasy» to say the least– specially because my immigration file is very straightforward, with the exception perhaps of a 160 day stay in Madrid for my study abroad semester.

I received my interview letter today November 5th. Interview is on 12/8/2015. Would someone please update my information. Thanks.

The USCIS website specifically says that anyone living in my town will have their interview in the Lawrence MA field office and not Boston but my interview is in the Boston field office. Maybe this means the Lawrence office is backed up. Boston is much closer to my house than Lawrence so I'm happy.

I hope everyone else receives their letters soon.

With regards to the detail about Lawrence, I think that might explain the fact that I'm still very much in line and caught in the grinding wheels of bureaucracy.

I'm in Essex County. I'm supposed to go to the Lawrence field office too. It looks like they are slower than Boston. They also only do 10 oath ceremonies a year compared to 37 in Boston. They do biometrics in Lawrence but I was still sent to Boston for mine. I don't understand the way the USCIS does things and I don't get why Lawrence isn't an option on the drop down menu for processing times. Let's hope they aren't too far behind.

I actually had my biometrics taken in the New York capital area– very odd.

I was in line for approx. 45 days. Maybe check to see how long other filiers from your field office had to wait and see if it's on par. I checked someone that filed in June and 45-46 days seems to be the magic number in Vegas.

My situation seems to be a bit peculiar, I think. I reside in Berkshire County, which makes my local field office the one located in Lawrence, MA– not the Boston Office per se (and I say per se because I don't know if and to what extent the Lawrence Office functions as a branch of the Boston Office (<http://www.uscis.gov/about-us/find-uscis-office/field-offices/massachusetts>).This adds a layer of discomfort because there seems to be very little information out in the internet on the Lawrence Office, not even in the USCIS website itself, specifically with regards to processing times.

At any rate, I hope to get the letter either this week or the next one. Fingers are crossed.

2015 US Passport Application Tracker List

Hey all,

Of those that have had their status changed to 'In Line for Interview' and also filed G-1145 with your application, how many recieved a text/email of their status update? I have not received any

notifications beyond my original Acceptance confirmation.

Mainly curious to see if they "forget" or skip it for some people.

This is how I took care of it: I created a USCIS account at <https://egov.uscis.gov/casestatus/displayLogon.do>.It should be fairly quick and simple. Then, I added my case number, that which begins NBC*_ _ _, etc. Once one adds one's case (or that of anyone's, really) to one's profile, it will give one the option to turn email and text alerts on and off.

5. All of the visa paperwork/process is to adhere to the requirements of the U.S. government. Is there anything a Cuban needs to do to on their side to leave the country? I am nervous that we get through all the U.S. stuff, get to the airport, and for some reason he cannot leave because we needed to fill out a form of some sort! Help?

I am somewhat knowledgeable of the new immigration reforms implemented by the Cuban government in early 2013. Here are a few things to note:

- Cubans no longer need the "exit permit" or "carta blanca."

- As someone mentioned above, certain professionals that represent "the qualified workforce for the economic, social and scientific development of the country"--- these range anywhere from star athletes to medical doctors--- must first request "authorization to reside abroad" ("permiso para residir en el exterior") to superiors in their respective fields (a request that no doubt must be approved by the Comisión de Cuadros, a workforce management agency). This permission must be obtained before even applying for a passport, as is the case with the next point, that is, military service.

- You husband must not be legible for compulsory military service. First he must either fulfill the military service requirement or request a waiver to the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces (FAR). This latter option is seldom granted.

- If he owns any property in Cuba in which he is still interested, he may keep it under current regulations. This was not the case years ago.

Hi-

I believe you are to follow the same process as that of obtaining an IRS transcript online. Instead of a transcript, he will get a "Verification of Non-Filling Letter." However, my personal experience was limited to simply downloading a PDF letter from the IRS website; and I do not know whether he will receive the a different document via mail.
