  1. Thanks for your reply Kieren Hubby. At Dulles, my processing was done entirely at One desk. I was not taken to secondary.

I have a friend who came via Abu Dhabi and his POE is JFK Airport. Although, he flew from Mumbai, he already completed 70 days and is still waiting for his GC.

His CBP was processed at Abu Dhabi airport in UAE (They have a new CBP department over there)and there is no subsequent processing for him at JFK Airport. He just entered the airport, picked baggage and took a cab.

What will be the next step for him also ?

  2. I paid 165$ fee on October 9 2015. My port of entry is October 17 2015, Dulles Airport, Virginia.

I haven't yet received IOE number. I called many times , In my second call, I was told that they have stopped issuing the IOE numbers.

    I was surprised.

    My questions are :

1 : What is the average waiting time ?

2 : What needs to be done when 60 days pass and the green card still does not arrive ?

3 : I was told that they have stopped issuing the IOE numbers from October 1, 2015 . Has anyone been told the same thing ?

  3. Congratulations to all !

Our interview went fantastic.. my wife was with me.. she was allowed to answer questions on my behalf.. it all went smooth and easy. We got approved !

Picked up passport 2 days later.

Did quite a bit of hectic packing and day-long worth of shopping..

I flew to USA with my wife. Entered this Saturday on the 17th.

Am home now, in DC.. enjoying the beginning of what is supposed to be a chilly winter..!!

    :-)

  4. Same with me and my wife. People should really stop freaking us out about this tax issue. It's a non-issue. If there's a way to do it before everything, explain it to others who haven't filed as single whiles their spouses are living outside. But please stop freaking us out. We are under enough stress as it stands already. It's ok to file single per the tax rules I've read when the spouse is a citizen of another country and not present in the U.S. PLEASE STOP ???????

    Dear co-VJ member Chaneydic1333,

Our intention was never to freak anybody out, but only to get some clarification, simply because we were told at the same VJ site, that there may be a possibility that consulates may ask as to why was the tax filed as 'single' and not 'MFS' - thereby questioning the authenticity of the relationship.

It is not us, but simply the tax rules and laws, that are so confusing, it can make the most honest person seem dishonest in the eyes of NVC or IRS.

It seemed to us that it is better so be safe than sorry and just wanted everyone's opinion.

Wishing the best for everyone out here.

  5. Thank you SiVin, ikeNme and Bunny&Ninja for such quick reply. So if my wife has to do an amendment of her taxes by changing status to MFS, then how to solve the problem of providing my SSN on that form ? Since I havent entered USA yet, what should she specify in the box where they ask for my SSN (as I dont have one yet) ?

Or would it be appropriate to do amendment after I enter USA, so she will then have my SSN to enter on amendment form ?

  6. Since my case status is 'case completed', and now I'm just waiting for the interview date, I have a question.

Is it true : that I as an applicant, will require my wife(sponsor), to fill out the 'new and updated version' of I-864, and have it with me to take it to the interview?

I think I recognize the asian looking counselor. She had given my wife a hard time too (for no apparent reason) when my wife had visited Embassy last year. Although my wife had given back a smacking reply which shut her mouth, as counselors/officers do not have any authority/capacity in behaving rudely or arrogantly to the Embassy's home country citizens, my wife was just inches close to filing a complaint against her presence and behavior in the Delhi Embassy, back to the US Capitol's official complaint hotline.

Trust me, that woman has some very very serious issues. Not only us, but that woman behaved very arrogantly with other US citizens who showed up at the Embassy that day. She seems to be a miserable person who is very unhappy with her life. Luckily my wife put her in her place just right.

Another male citizen also raised his voice against her behavior and the whole waiting area clapped their hands for his befitting reply back to her. She still did not change her tone of voice and continued behaving rudely with the next person at her counter.

  8. Bhai

Amerika to India biman ka tkt for my very own devil.

Flying from ktm.. Want to go to my soil once before going to amrika

???.. Correct us if wrong.. but isn't there a case where, once when you are given the immigration stamp on your passport, that you may not travel to anywhere else, except straight to USA ?

We were under the impression that between this stage and the point of reaching USA, if we travel to any other location/country - (for leisure or any other purpose), would disqualify us at interview at port-of-entry immigration interview and may even require additional freshly issued PCC from the country that you traveled to ??

  9. Quick question : If we are first-time travellers to USA with our immigration interview (in "still pending" - status) at the airport in USA, are we okay with buying a "one-way ticket" to USA, or are we expected to show up at the USA airport immigration with confirmation of a "two-way return ticket" ?

I've been told that medical testing consist of full body physical test (which may/may not involve check for any existing bodily skin diseases) as well as a TB test. They will place the TB shot on your arm and you have to go back by around 48 hours to the same venue, for their reading of the effects of that shot. If it turns positive (due to itching, scratching or increased redness beyond acceptable circumference around the shot), then person may be subject to Chest XRay. By and large that is one thing that is a must go-through portion.

Other than that, there are vaccine shots that you have to be ready for and blood test for any communicable disease. Dont forget to take any past records of any vaccine shots that you may recently taken. Or else, they might administer you with multiple vaccines within limited time - which leads to fever (in many cases) in the following days. If possible, ask them to span out the shots to couple of days - (if your schedule allows).

At biometrics, they will fingerprint all fingers repeatedly, take a good facial photograph,(so wear a good tee or shirt) and retina scan images.

We wish you all the best.. do fill us in on your experience.. !

  11. Bunny :

While her medical testing for greencard was done back in April 2008, her medical testing was re-done for citizenship in November 2013.

But if you have information of recent times, where they have stopped issuing paper letters via mails, then that would help me and all others save time, by not wasting moments.. waiting for such a letter to appear in mail before medical and fingerprinting could be scheduled.

Do keep us posted on your experience on Monday.. Looking forward to hear from you.

On another note: My wife also plans on visiting Delhi again to appear with me over my interview, but she too is highly confused about the duration to buy tickets for. Has anybody got any updated information about the approximate time that Delhi Embassy takes between the immigration interview and actual handover of passport after it ? She wishes to fly together on my maiden flight to USA just so that she can also be present with me for my immigration interview at the port-of-entry (airport immigration interview) in USA.

She isnt sure if one week would be sufficent or should it be more than that ? Does anyone know anybody who very recently had spousal immigration interview by Delhi Embassy? She has to notify her office about her trip to India ahead of time and make arrangements in office prior to her leaving. If her stay in India goes beyond her stated timeframe, all hell would break loose at her office. Any information available ?

  12. Bunny :

When my wife had her medical testing done during her green card and even during her citizenship, (while I understand that the time, process, location etc was separate for each), the medical testing centers particularly stressed on the fact that the person should bring alongwith them the original letter issued by the Embassy stating that their interview date was scheduled and that they should go ahead with the fingerprinting and the medical.

My wife has a question for you : Have you received a letter by mail from Embassy that you can carry with you, to Panchsheel, or, would they conduct the medical test, based on a photocopy of the email, or a letter issued via email? In other words, will an email copy produced by us at the location be acceptable by Panchsheel and fingerprinting department ?
