You got your oath letter right away? For Santa Ana (California) my wife had to wait for a letter which took a number of weeks, and then the ceremony was then another 3-4 weeks out.

Yes! Miami field office does hand over the Oath letter right after a successful interview Same happened with my wife's case last year.

Congratulations! I'm very glad he didn't say, please wait outside for 11 more months for your oath letter!

A few offices, although not many, that ask applicants to wait and hand them their oath letters on the same day. Houston does this, too, although it can be a 2 hour wait. Most offices will mail the letter.

I got done with my interview yesterday. Very smooth process and I was done in 15 mins. Very professional IO and explained every step on the way. Asked for my GC, Passports and ID. Asked if anything has changed since then. I just gave information about my new job and that's it. Finally he asked me to wait outside to get the Oath appointment letter which is next week.

Can someone please update my status? It seems my previous dates were removed by someone.

That not true buddy.. I changed my job in January this year, yesterday I had my interview and i was approved.

The VO just asked the new employer name thats it.

Thanks buddy. Did you change your location too with the job? Reason I ask you this is that I am switching job + location. I am called at this current location for interview. When I called USCIS they said I should attend at this current place if possible.

I can't imagine why this would be true.

Friends - I have one more question. One of my co-worker here at work told me that you should not change jobs when your N400 application is in process. I don't think its true. My guess is that he is trying to put something in my mind to make me stay for his advantage which I don't want to.

Do mail forwarding via USPS and also give them your new address dated effective when you move. That way, you'll get the mailed notice from them regardless.

As a permanent resident, you are required to file an AR-11 change of address form within 10 days of moving.

You should also update your address for your case.

Are you sure that your new area falls under a new office? If so, I think you should schedule an Infopass appointment and explain the situation in person. They'll tell you whether your case needs to be transferred or not. My guess would be yes, but I'm not sure. You could do what you suggest; just drive to the interview, but when you tell them your new address (which you'll have to do), they may tell you that you're out of their area of jurisdiction. You'll probable get your letter in the next week or two and the interview is usually scheduled for 3-5 weeks after you get the letter, so I suggest you schedule an appointment now, for some time after you know you'll have the letter (let's say 3 weeks from now).

I don't think USPS forwards USCIS mail... USCIS asks the post office to return mail if the recipient has moved. It may still get forwarded in some cases, but they're supposed to return it.

Thank you guys for replying. I think I am going to wait for the notice and see if the interview date is before my move out date. In that way I can at least complete my interview. I will update my new address as soon as I have one.

Hello Friends - I finally got an email update from USCIS after my bio-metrics in last year July. And the irony is that I was preparing to move from my current job. I resigned in the morning today and right after I got this update from USCIS. I will be here till the end of this month but I am not sure what the date of interview is. I am waiting for the letter. Can I called USCIS and ask for the date?

What happens if I move? I will be just 4 hours drive away from my current USCIS field office. I can drive on my interview and oath dates. Do I still have to let USCIS know that I am moving? Will they reschedule my interview at a local office where I am moving to? And if yes then I am sure this will take longer time.

Please guide me on what should I do.

So USCIS replied to my service request and their statement is below:

The status of this service request is:

Due to workload factors not related to your case, USCIS anticipates a delay in completing your case. USCIS is committed to adjudicating immigration benefits in the order received and in a timely and efficient manner. We regret any inconvenience that results from delays in processing.

I got the same reply twice. This is BS.

So frustrated. My wife and I did our applications on the same day back in June.

We had biometrics back in September, maybe even August.

She had her interview back in October, and her ceremony in December and is a USC.

Mine? Nothing. I've had my biometrics etc back in September and then have heard nothing. Attorney says my wife's was processed 'unusually fast', yes others in the filers for June group have been completed already (most but not all).

They are now putting in a third information request as its out of normal processing times.

Should I call anyway? I just KNOW they have lost me somewhere in the system, but don't have a route to get an answer.

My case is very similar to yours. Me and my wife filed on 6/18/15 and completed biometrics appt. on 7/13/15. Wife became a citizen on 9/25/15 and my case status is still says "Case was Received."

I have called number of times and everytime Level 2 officer gives me different answers. One was rude enough to hang up on me! They opened two inquires.. one in Dec and one in Jan as they confirmed that my case is outside normal processing time. Both inquiries were closed very next day with generic replies saying delay is "workload related".

Called two weeks back again and this level 2 officer was nice enough to go though my case and said that he can open one more inquiry but he doubted that the USCIS reply will change. As per him my case does not have any problems and should have been adjudicated by now. It is at the local field office and not moving. He asked me to get a infopass and demand answers(he said its my right to question)... if the answers are not satisfactory he asked me to escalate to a supervisor during infopass. If this does not work, he asked me to open a case with CIS Ombudsman with all history.

Infopass is this weekend.

Does anyone know what this means? More wait for no reason?

It seems no one has got this type of letter from USCIS.... I guess I'll wait for couple of weeks more before scheduling an infopass appointment. Involving a lawyer will be the last option...

That's not the answer I was looking for but as far as I understand the background check has to be clear before an application is assigned to an IO. Anyone has any clue?

At this point I am not sure if this conversation helped me in any way.

No, it sounds to me that if it is assigned to an officer they should schedule interview soon.

Although others might give you better input on what comes first - scheduling for interview or assigning to the officer.

No! Completed my FP on 7/13 and since then the online status is case was received. I don't know what decision the Level 2 was talking about without the interview. Do you think something is not right?

@GOLFER: If you don't mind can you please tell me how did you open the SR? When I try it online I cannot and it says "My case is within normal processing time and a case cannot be opened". My FP was done on 7/13. Nothing since.

So I opened up official service request with USCIS since there is no progress in my case since I did Finger prints since 07/06/2015 almost three months. Here is the official reply.

" Due to excessive work load that is not related to your case we are anticipating delay in processing your case. USCIS is committed to adjudicate cases in order they are received. We apologize for any inconvenience "

What the fish ! I thought they will say case is pending security background check or within normal processing time. This is strange reply, any thoughts !

my interview was in Miami gardens/Hialeah office. I had a, 7:10 appt and got there at 7:20. the lobby was full and they had not called any of the 17 ppl there before me. let me tell you, a lazy interviewer who doesn't want to search for s document will ask you for it. Glad I brought my immigration folder with me even though I wasn't told to bring anything extra except id and some tax papers. he eventually found the bc in my file but if he hadn't and I didn't bring a copy, he may have held up my approval.I say bring originals of the things they might ask you to verify. can't hurt. good luck with your wife!

My wife's interview is now complete. Appointment was @ 10:30am but she was called in at 11:30am(The place was crowded). The first thing the IO did is apologized for the long wait. Then she asked 6 simple questions followed by two lines to read and one to write. Few questions from N-400 application. Asked for GC and the Marriage certificate. This was over in 10 minutes but she(IO) requested my wife to wait outside for some time and she will give the Oath appointment letter too. Oath is scheduled for next Friday at the same location.

God knows when my application will move ahead

I have a question, I received two text messages this morning with the following information:

"Your case NBC*XXXXXXXXXX is now updated. Check "My Case Status" at www.uscis.gov. *Msg and Data Rates May Apply. Reply HELP for help or STOP to stop text alerts"

But when I go to the case status site, nothing has changed. I am scheduled for my interview on 9/22, is this normal?? What can they be updating if there is nothing going on until 9/22??

My wife's interview is tomorrow and she got a similar text today early morning. Her status has also not changed and it still says "Interview is scheduled". She called USCIS anyways just to confirm as we don't want to waste our time, they said that Interview is confirmed for tomorrow and the text may be an mistake and can be ignored. Hope that helps!

We got our FP done @ the Hialeah office but not sure why my wife is being called at this location for the interview... Don't care anyways as far as it's done.. I will ask my wife to carry every original copy she can. Thank you for your prompt reply... That really helps!

Not at all...if it says one just give them one and vice versa. e.g. What is the “rule of law”? ▪ Everyone must follow the law. ▪ Leaders must obey the law. ▪ Government must obey the law. ▪ No one is above the law. All you need to do is give the IO one out of these answers

All - There are some questions in the 100 civics questions booklet which say name any one or name any two.... so I get that... but for others do you have to give all the answers listed or any one is fine? Might be a stupid question to some but its just not obvious to me so rather ask. Thanks in advance for your replies...

and with that, I'm recommend for approval. ceremony is before the end of the month so I didn't ask about same day oath! my interviewer was still sleepy and grumpy at first. but he warmed up soon after. he verified app questions, asked for my birth,certificate, asked 6 questions, I read, wrote, then. he totaled up some points and then said congratulations. lasted maybe 15 minutes.

Congratulations! What was the interview location if I may ask? My wife is scheduled for an interview on 17th @ 8801 NW 7th Avenue Miami, FL 33150. Did you go the same location? Was there any waiting time or the interview started at the scheduled time? Do you have to carry the birth certificate? Any other documents that you recommend carrying along? Sorry for so many questions... but you reply will be very helpful and greatly appreciated!
