I am a US Citizen from the Philippines, just had a baby and child care around here is almost impossible. Looking for sometime of online job like customer service or anything that would allow me to work from home. 

To bring mother from the Philippines to the USA. Do I ONLY need to file the I-30 for her to actually receive the visa to come here? Then later file the I485 so that she can work or do they both have to be filed before she is allowed to come here?

I came to the USA 10 years ago on a fiancée visa.  My parents who are poor farmers in the Philippines have expressed interest in coming to live in the USA. However, I am not sure where to start. I have not worked while being in the USA. So I have several question I am hoping someone can answer. 

1. I assume I file an I-30 for the to come here with a greencard. Does the financial sponsorship have to come from me or can it come to my husband or should I get a job first before I apply for them.

2. How long and expensive is the process from the Philippines?

3. ** Kind of Most important. They are now in their mid 50s and know very little to no English. How does USA social security work for permanent residents? Do they need to become U.S. Citizens before they would qualify for Social Security? My understanding is that you need to work 10 years, 40 quarters to be eligible for social security.  So if they came here and both worked for wal-marts of some type of place only paying minimum wage. How much would their social security be with such a short work history and low wage?  <--- This is probably the most important thing in deciding if it is a good idea for them to actually come here because I worry about their future if they were to come here.

Can someone tell me what all of the N-400 case status updates are throughout the process.

I know you get a notice of when your file was received,

bio-metrics,

in line for interview schedule,

then when your interview has been schedule,

What are the steps after the interview? Do you get an update that you have been approved or that you are inline or that your oath ceremony has been scheduled??

I applied for the N400 in Dec 2016. Didn't finally get an interview until Jan 2018. I had an very old white women interview me. After I passed the exam very quick and easily. She seem to go into this integration more about how much older was my husband than me, why did I choose to marry and older man. Why do I not work, why do I not have kids, she asked me 3 different time during the interview in different was if I am or have ever prostituted myself which just seemed unbelievable and insulting.  She was very aggressive and seemed angry towards me. I was very nice and polite said yes mama. no mama to everything she asked. I was very respectful at all times during her interrogation and what seems to be personal attacks against my moral character for marring an older man. I felt she made it perfectly clear that she did not approve of a old man marring a younger Asian female and seem to think that all Asian females are prostitutes or something. It was shocking and strange. 

After the interview she says Congratulations you passed the exam portion of the interview. She had a smile and everything.  It was not until i went out side and my husband looked at the papers and said she didn't check approved, but instead more information was needed. We went to a supervisor who looked at all the paperwork she gave me, there was a notice that she wanted the current years taxes and she said she needed a passport photo which didn't make any sense , since everything is done through the biometrics office. She wanted a normal passport photo from Walgreens.  So we were told if we could get her a copy of the taxes and passport photo before 3pm she would approve today.

We did both within a hour and had it back there. But she refused to approve that day then, saying her computer would not allow it. But she would do it first time tomorrow. over a month pass we hear NOTHING. We went to our congresswoman, who got me a new interview appointment with a different officer last of February. At first he said he could not do anything because I had already passed my interview but for some reason the woman had not passed the file on in the process to scheduling the oath ceremony. Anyone he pulled the file and went over with it. He noticed the first woman had me sign in the WRONG places.  He got new forms and corrected it. It gave me a new noticed saying I was approved. He said since I was doing a name change they could not get me on the next ceremony because it was not the right type of judge. Which didn't really seem to make since but i trusted him because he was very nice. He promised 100% I would be in the April Oath Ceremony.  another 6 weeks go by I still have no updates on my USCIS status page.  I went last Wed to an info pass and got a rude supervisor who said my file was back with the original woman who had the bad attitude against me and that she did not submit the file to the scheduler for the oath ceremony. I asked why they just said they are very busy and it will get done just be patient. I expressed my concern this woman seems to have some type of prejudiced against me and I feel she was holding up my file because of this. I was told that is just ridicules and that she would never do that I just need to be patient. 

It is has been over 1 year and 5 months since I filed, It has been 4 months since my n-400 was approved but my case status has not been updated, and I have been told I that the person who schedules the Oath ceremony has not received my file. What can I do at this point?? My mother is sick and I cannot visit her in fear I won't be here if I ever do get scheduled for the oath ceremony. My husband has been waiting to take a new job in a ne state because of this, our lives are on permanent hold with no end in sight.

What is the process here? Should by case status be updated to approved after my interview? She it say they I have moved on to being scheduled for an interview? When I call the 800 number I am being told that my case is still in "Review", same thing with first person I speak to at the info pass, the supervisor at the info pass assures me that I am approved and I will be scheduled for the next available oath ceremony. But when I ask for any printed or written assurance of that she refuses. 

over  1 year and 4 months and still not an approval noticed.. interveiw was back in Jan 2018 . I have went to 3 info pass appts they just keep telling me to wait. 

I am in NEED of HELP!!..  I seem to have an immigration officer discriminating against me.  I just went in for my N-400 interview today that took over a year!! I flied in Dec  of 2016, just now finally got my interview. I took in all the documents that was listed on the interview appointment letter.  Some back story, I had horrible problem at this same location for my removal of conditions that took over 2 YEARS!! over a YEAR to get my greencard AFTER it was actually approved because of a problem with an immigration officers incompetence. Only received it after contacting my congressman and senator and the Ombudsmen Office.

Anyway as soon as I walked in her office today something seemed off. So it started off with her asking for documents that was not listed to bring in on the letter, She wanted my OLD passport that expired in 2012, even though they have plenty of photo copies of the pages in the files, She wanted the actual income tax return that we filed even though they have an itemized statement from the IRS and 2 passport photos!! No one else had passport photos or old passports there. She gave no reason for requesting these items. She went through with the interview, I answered all the questions perfectly during the civics questions and reading and writing which she said I passed.

However during the interview she asked a great deal strange  questions about my age and my husbands age and directly if I have ever prostitute myself, have I ever been sold into slavery and things. Most people seem to  say they were only asked a few question but I was asked over 30 personal questions. She seem to have a negative issue with the age difference between me and my husband and I felt like she as insinuating I could be a prostitute because I do not have a job. The whole interview seemed a bit strange. At the end of the interview she said I passed but then said she could not approved until I submitted passport photos. She gave me a paper saying if I could submit them today before 3pm she would approve the case. However when I returned everything she then recanted and said the case needs to be reviewed and they have up to 120 days to review the case. 

The paper she gave me was dated Jan 5th, 2018 my interview was Today Jan 8th, 2018. She actually issued the RFE on my N-400 BEFORE she actually even interviewed me. It seems I had no chance of being approved today. I tried to talk with a supervisor who said they have no power over approving the cases and it is up to the individual officer. It seems this is some type of retaliation for  filing the complaints about my I-751 what took over 2 years or some type of discrimination because of the  23 year age difference between me and my husband. 

It is not fair that I should have to wait another 6 months just because someone has the power to do it because of their personal issues.  Is there ANYTHING I can do?? Other than writing letters to my congressman and senator and ombudsmen office and waiting another 6 months to a year? Is there anyway to report this person to anyone who would actually care or have the power to do anything about it???

It never came, I called the 800 numbers and was told just to wait and be patient. I finally went into the local USCIS then they told me the interview update and letter should not have went out. The website stayed the same. I went back at the end of July to ask again. I was then told that they were backed logged and would just get to it they could. When I pressed them for a time frame they told me 6 months to a YEAR!!!! ####### .. This is Crazy.. Just about everyone else is either already a citizen or have had an interview scheduled. They are saying this might take over 2 and 1/2 years total??? That is just crazy.. What can I do at this point? The local USCIS is VERY VERY RUDE here in Orlando FL. No one cares to help. They seem to be angry when you go in for an info pass appointment acting like you are wasting their time.

We got a email and text message update on June 26 saying the interview was scheduled. However we hae still not received a letter informing us of the time and date of the interview. When we call the 800 USCIS help line they can only tell us the same as the case status update saying they don't have access to the actual letter or information on the date and time of the interview. Worried now we might miss the interview because the letter has been lost in the mail some how.  VERY STRESSED!!!

I originally applied for my 10 year greencard in August 2015!! yes 2015 . It seem to just get lost, had to send in numerous status updates, infopass appointments, and congressman interaction to finally get an interview after 18 months.  Had an interview in January 15th, where the immigration officer said she was going to approve my case. It has been over a month and I still have NOT received my greencard.  Soooo Frustrated with this process.  What do I do at this point? How long should it take to have the greencard sent out from time of approval? Should I just keep waiting?? I cannot travel I cannot get a job. My life is on hold waiting for this card. My temporay green card expired as of sept 2015. The letter that came with applying for the i-751 expired in sept 2016. I have no current paperwork to even show legal status at this point other than a pending i-751

How long should it take to get an " In Line" notice? I did my finger prints on Feb 7th but have not received anything since then.

We sent, joint tax returns, bank statements, electric bill, phone bills ect. Passport, green card pictures everything thing suggested in the application to send. I feel the problem is that I do not work, which I cannot get a job now with an expired greencard. My husband is much older than me and he already owned his house and cars and everything before we were married. So there is not a need for me to work and he enjoys having me at home. We do not have any kids and I was waiting to change my name when i get my citizenship, because we had heard of stories of name changes causing problems with the adjustment of status. 

We have no major purchases, we have no loans or debt. There was not a lot of formal documentation, other than joint car insurance, banks accounts and things and tax rental health insurance. We thought that was more than enough. He takes are of all the bills. Not sure what there is we can do to prove our marriage. Seems we are being penalized because we choose not to have children or go into debt and me not working.
