Slow down. Forget your brother or lawyers right now. At this point you don't even know for sure if there actually is something to be worried about. Stop speculating and find out. Get a background check immediately, instead of stressing and wasting time trying to guess how it could have happened. Once you have the facts, start to figure out the next steps, if necessary.
