  1. Hi all,

On the I-130 form, question 15., it says "Name and Address of Present Employmer (if any)"...does this refer to the petitioner or the beneficiary? It appears to be under section C, which is "Information about your relative", but there is no corresponding questions under section B "Information about you".

Thanks for any help! Almost there with the forms and should be able to send them off Friday! :D

  2. Hi all,

Just working through the forms for the CR1 at the moment, which we'll file after we get married on Thursday...I noted that on the G-325A forms, it requires the Applicants residence for the past 5 years - I've worked in San Diego and Indiana for two periods of two months in 04 and 05 respectively, and in Germany for two weeks in '03...do I need to dig out the addresses for these places, or because they were temporary visits, do they not count as residencies? All this will show up in my employment for the past 5 years. I've also lived in 4 different apartments during my time at University, so should I have to list them as well? I've always used my parent's house (where I'm living now) as my "official" address for correspondance etc.

Just a quick check on my soon-to-be-spouse's address....she's listing her US one as her "current" address, but the place which we last lived together at will be our address in the UK, which she'll put down as "August 2006 to Present"...will this cause a problem?

I also saw that on the London Embassy website, they had a form you can use to make the CR1 Fee payment by credit card...has anyone else used this and has it worked okay?

    Thanks!

  3. Hi all,

I'm preparing the forms for our CR1 petition, the idea being that we get everything ready now, and then after the wedding, we just copy the wedding certificate and pop in in the final package to be sent off :D

I just had a few questions...:

    - Although my USC spouse will be living in the UK with me whilst we wait for the petition to go through, as we can't do DCF in the UK, is it okay to send it to the USCIS processing centre (Nebraska) for her "home state", and put down her parents address as her current address? She'll still be popping back there occasionally, to pick stuff up, and it is still her official address in the US.

    - I can't see anywhere on the assembly guide that we have to include all the evidence we had previous got together for the K1 (letters, emails, photos etc)....do we not need this for the CR1 till the interview? Or should we include it anyway? I know a friend of mine included some evidence in his CR1 petition, and is moving rapidly through the system, so I don't know whether it would help or not.

Thanks for all your help, and I'll update the timeline once we've got the ball rolling after the wedding on August 17th!!

  4. Thanks for posting this question, Luvalimey, as we're in a very similar position - will be getting married in the UK on August 17th and then filing for CR-1 whilst both living and working in the UK...we'll wait until we are actually married before sending off the letter of cancellation just in case there's any last minute change of plans. Does anyone know if on the CR-1 application, this will count as having a previous visa "denied", or not because we chose to cancel it ourselves?

  5. I concur with the previous suggestions of a glass of wine or milk...both work for me when I've needed help getting to sleep. (although not at the same time *ick*!)

My Fiancee occasionally has sleeping problems, so I'll ask her if she has any suggestions when we chat later.

  6. Hi all,

Just wanted to share some of my good news which happened this week, and ask everyone to feel free to add anything of their own! The great, the small, the personal, the global scale...it's all welcome here :D

    For me:

    - On Tuesday, my USC Fiancee got approved at the UK Embassy in LA for her British Fiancee visa...it was very quick and painless, the staff were polite and helpful, so we're now on for getting married in the UK on August 17th this year, and then doing the K3/CR1 process after that! What with IMBRA, long delays etc, we decided it was better to be able to wait it out together, and so she'll be working/living in the UK in the meantime.

    - Yesterday I received my degree results from Imperial College London...and I got a 2:2 which I am VERY happy with considering I've had a tough time here academically, and nearly got thrown off the course last year :help: I know I'm not an "academic" guy, I'll never do a Phd or suchlike, but I'm so happy that I managed to get through, and had to re-read the results board 5 times to make sure it was true!

  7. Thanks for the advice Vinay, it sounds like exactly what I need - I don't have any "Professional" things which need converting, just something official I can show to potential employers so they know where I stand in comparison to US Applicants etc with regard to my degree results. Will definately be getting it done in the next few weeks!

  8. Hi all,

I was just wondering if anyone here had used the World Education Service (www.wes.org) to evaulate their foreign education credentials and get them "translated" into US Equivalents? I'm strongly considering doing it as they seem a LOT cheaper than other Credential Evaluators...if anyone has any suggestions or comments they would be more than welcome!

  9. Hi all,

Just a celebratory thread to say that we received our NOA1, and the timeline has been updated with the date that they sent it (12th April).

Still undecided about whether we'll end up ditching the K1 and instead get married in the UK and end up applying for K3....but it's nice to know things are moving along in any case!

Hope everyone else going through the process gets good news soon :D

  10. Originally I posted this in the OT Forum, but it seems this is a better place for it :)

Some jobs which I have been looking at applying for, particularly in the Law Enforcement/Military field, required applicants to be "Either US Citizens or resident aliens having demonstrated an intent to become a US Citizen"....having contacted employers who state this, the general consensus is that an N-300 form would be sufficient proof, especially if my employment terms required me to sign up for more than the 2 years given by the CR-1.

I was wondering if anyone had applied for an N-300, and if so when are you allowed to do it? Basically I'm hoping I can apply for it once the initial 2-year Conditional Residency comes through, as that would make things a lot easier.

    Any help/advice much appreciated! :D

  11. Thanks...good point! Haven't had enough coffee yet to get my brain in gear :-p *Tries to move topic to the "moving here and your life in america" thread but it's too heavy* MOD!! Help please! ;-)

  12. Not sure where else this would have been suitable...so it's another Off topic one! :D

  13. Hi all,

Having reviewed our options my fiancee&I are now seriously considering having our wedding in the UK to save on costs etc, and to allow me to be able to work shortly after entering the US on a spousal visa, rather than waiting months after a marriage in the US for an EAD etc. The big question we have is, if she gets a visitor for marriage (non immigrant) visa for the UK, will she be able to do any kind of work whilst she is here? I know that if she came on one of the "Blue cards" as I believe they're nicknamed, she could at least work for 6 months or so whilst we wait for my visa to come through after marriage.

We're partly considering this because the full time job I have lined up after finishing Uni in June pays better than the one she works in the US at the moment, so economically it would be better if I could carry on working and she leaves her job to come here, than the other way round.

We'd be looking at a July wedding in the UK as opposed to a late November one in the US if we went through with this....the long term objective is for us both to be living in the US, with authorisation to work, by early 2007! :D

If anyone can help out with this it would be much appreciated....I put this in the "Off Topic" forum as I wasn't sure where else it would fit!

  14. Hi all,

Having had some discussions with my fiancee and both sets of parents, we are considering a change of plan with regard to the immigration and marriage...right now as stated in my introduction topic we've filed our K1 petition and were hoping to get married on November 26th - the problem is that our reception hall wants a confirmed date 6 months in advance (i.e. May 26th), and we are also facing spiralling costs for caterers etc...and we are worried about me not being able to work for a few months afterwards, whilst I wait for the EAD and the AOS etc to come through.

So, we are now looking at the possibility of her coming here over the summer, possible as early as July, and having a short n sweet little ceremony etc here with just a few close family and friends, then going the DCF route, and moving back to the US as soon as that's all done, especially as it seems with the timelines that I may be able to get my Green Card earlier this way than going over via the K1! At the end of the day, we're not too fussed about ceremonies etc as long as it's in a church and we have a few close friends and family there!

I was wondering if anyone had done this route, and if so does she need to apply for a UK Fiancee Visa (even though she doesn't intend to emigrate as such), and would she be able to do any kind of work etc whilst waiting for my Green Card to come through via DCF?

Any advice etc is more than welcome! As ever, google simply turns up thousands of attorneys willing to take my money :(

  15. I think it's ridiculous to think of fast-tracking people who are in the country ILLEGALLY to full Citizenship, when there are those such as ourselves having to deal with mounds of paperwork just for basic LEGAL visas! Not to mention my numerous friends who depsite a strong desire to, have no way of emigrating to the US as they have no family connections or lengthy qualifications to qualify them under the rules.

  16. Thanks for all of the warm welcomes! Right now the only things booked are the Church and the Reception area....I'm not sure on the conditions as we've put deposits down on both, but hopefully if we do have to delay it they may look kindly on us if we still have it with them. In any case I'll keep my timeline updated.

  17. Hi all,

I have the great fortune to be engaged to a lurvely American lass, and we found this website was a great help in preparing our K-1 Visa Petition package which she'll be posting tommorow (I just got back from a vacation with her today, did the forms etc, and am now waiting in England for my summons to the USA!)

We already have a church and reception hall booked for November 26th this year, so here's hoping that all the paperwork gets processed by then! I'm in my last year of a Materials Engineering degree in London, but will have a good few months to work full time in the UK before the marriage to get plenty of savings together for the move, which'll help us through the waiting time for my work authorisation after the marriage.

I don't care if I start off flipping burgers or with a top-notch company like Boeing, I'm just so happy at the chance to start working in the US! Previously I've worked in San Diego and Indiana on exchange placements through my University, but it's nice to know that I'll be finally coming in on an immigrant visa :D Ideally I'm hoping to go in the military or Law Enforcement, but will see where life takes me.

Anyhow, just wanted to introduce myself, and look forward to updating you all with the progress of my Visa!
