Received email/text this morning that our green card has been sent for production!!  EAC18061

All - Thought I would give an update for anyone that might be in the same situation as us - need i-551 stamp BUT local field office has NO appointments available....ever.

We are Nov 17 VSC filers, Washington DC field office.  Only have the 12 month extension letter and online status has said the same thing "transfer to local office" since Feb 2018.  As his GC plus 12 months expires mid Jan, we need another extension to renew his drivers license.  Tried making infopass appointments via USCIS website for over a month and I never found an appointment available.  Tried early in the morning, late at night and randomly throughout the day.  I tried calling USCIS and they told me 1) you can make an appointment at a local field office that is not your own (we tried that while on vacation for Christmas in Reno visiting family and they told us - including the supervisor that as they do not have "jurisdiction" they could do nothing for us) and 2) try making an appointment between 6-7 am.  Neither of those methods worked.  At the Reno field office, she suggested (but could not guarantee that it would work) to just show up and ask for them to take you as an "emergency" appointment.  We did that on Monday this week and were told that for the DC field office, all 100 appointments for the week are released on Thursday at 8 am. By 8:05 all those appointments would be gone as there are more than 10,000 people looking for the 100 appointments.  So we showed up today at 7:40am waiting to get our infopass appointment, so they would see us.  The supervisor indicated that no matter when the actual appointment was for he would see us as we need the stamp to be able to renew my husband's drivers license.  Long story short - after waiting 2 hours we got the i-551 stamp for 1 year.

If Washington DC Field Office is your field office, know that the only time you will be able to find available appointments is between 8-8:05 am on Thursday mornings.

After calling on Feb 6 to inquire about not getting a biometrics letter and talking to a Tier 2, we received the biometrics letter on Feb 24 (dated Feb 17) for an appt on March 7.  For anyone wondering, only applicant was allowed to go back for fingerprints.

FWIW, our online status has the Feb 27 date of moving to local office.

your NOA letter IS the extension.  Look below where it notes what you paid and you should see this

"Your conditional resident status is extended for a period of one year from the expiration date on your conditional resident card."

same boat - we haven't received our biometric appointment.  Has anyone had this happen?  Who do we call to find out status?  I am assume it got lost in the mail at this point.

My husband's English is not perfect.  Do you think I need to go with him to the biometrics appointment?

Ok updated for our NOA1 date BUT now I am nervous.  We are going to be travelling for 3 weeks starting tomorrow.  What happens if we get our biometrics appointment letter while we are gone and the date is for during the 3 weeks??????  What happens if you miss your appointment?

Our interview went well yesterday. I attended with my husband and they asked him just a few basic questions in the interview part: How, when, and where did you meet? What language did you speak together the day you met? Why was your wife in France when you met her? When did she return to the U.S.? Where do you live now and where does your wife live? What does she do for a living? What company does she work for? When was your wedding? How many people attended? Was your family there? Was her family there?

They never asked for more evidence of our relationship. The only additional papers they wanted were originals of his birth certificate, our marriage certificate, his police certificate (casier judiciare). They also wanted the first page of our interview letter, the copy of the ds-260 completion, and the email indicating we had registered our appointment with usinfo. They also asked if I wanted to update anything in the i-864. I told her that I had a new original if she wanted it but nothing had changed and she declined to take it. She gave us back one of the passport style photos.

At the end she told us Felicitations! They kept his passport and told us we should get his passport back in 10-12 days.

I am so relieved and excited. Good luck everyone! Hang in there even though our journey has been relatively short it has been hard to endure the waiting and not knowing how it would turn out and when we would be reunited. I won't feel completely settled until I have him in my arms in the U.S. Thanks to everyone who has written in here. I can't express how much that has calmed my nerves to read about others' experiences and know that we are not alone in this process.

I am the USC petitioner and want to attend my husband's interview. I know I am not required but would like to be there for moral support.

Does anyone know how to get your name put on the list at the Paris embassy so that you will be allowed entrance to attend the interview? I have found one person who mentioned they just showed up with their passport at the Paris embassy but I would like to be more proactive as it is really important to me that I am able to attend the interview with my husband.

@dwheels76 - I am happy to report that we have a closed case as of today 10/28/15!!! Our scan date was October 1. We are really hoping for a December interview. Good luck everyone!

I see the third N/A this afternoon and I am on hold now to confirm with NVC. Our scan date is October 1. Really hope this means case complete; it would mean the good news I really needed to hear today.

The questions were very simple that you will know for sure about your spouse:

- his job title

- adress of our home

- when I entered the US

- when we last saw each other

- how long we know each other

- if our wedding was arranged ??

- how many guests we had

- if my in-laws were present

And that was it!

The whole interview was more like drinking coffee with a friend. She was asking and smiling?

Natife - we are in the exact same situation as you were. My husband applied for a student visa before we were married and was denied as they thought he did not have enough ties to France. Did they ask you anything or make any reference to this fact for you? Sounds like they did not.

Have a couple of questions related to NVC. I tried calling today and had an unhelpful agent... I asked to talk to a supervisor, she put me on hold for a minute then came back and said one isn't available and one will cal me back 'soon.' Has anyone had supervisors actually call back, or should I just try calling again to get a different more helpful agent?

My account is still locked and the DS-261 hasn't been reviewed since I submitted it on Sept 18. Would like this reviewed quickly so that we can pay the IV bill and fill out the DS-260 before they start reviewing the documents I just sent in...

More importantly, the address that NVC has for the beneficiary is wrong - the street address and postal code are correct, but whoever on their end entered it into the system put in the country as her country of nationality instead of her country of residence. The agent I spoke to today told me they won't be able to change this on the phone and I will have to submit to NVC an to make the change, which will have a 45 day review time. I asked why this is if it is incorrect data entry, and the agent didn't have a response...

My question is: Does anyone have experience dealing with an address incorrectly input by NVC? Does it matter if the address on the welcome letter is wrong? We got all the documents via email, and my wife will put her correct address on the DS-260. Should I follow up with the supervisor on this or just let it go and hope it doesn't cause any issues down the road?

Keep asking to talk to the supervisor to get your case unlocked. In the end the supervisor did not even speak to me just unlocked the case while I waited with the agent. I called around 10 pm EST and seemed to have luck.

Just wanted to pass along a bit of advice to those waiting to get their DS261 reviewed

A few days ago I found out that our case had been "locked" at the NVC. One NVC agent told me that she had left a note in our file for a supervisor to unlock it as they could not make any changes including review our DS261 until it was unlocked. At the advice of a fellow VJer, I requested to talk to a supervisor the next time I called the NVC. However, the second agent I talked to totally made up a story about how not even a supervisor could unlock it and I would just need to wait for 30 business days to pass.

Tonight I called and a VERY nice woman answered and told me the same thing the first agent had - she had added a note for a supervisor to unlock our case. I asked if it would be possible to talk to a supervisor. She put me on hold briefly and when she came back she said the supervisor was in the process of unlocking our case as we spoke and it would be just a minute and we could review my form. Less than 3 minutes later I was off the phone with a reviewed DS261.

I really think had I just patiently waited it would have been weeks before our case was unlocked and reviewed. Hope this helps someone who also gets a locked case like ours.

What did you end up doing? I seem to have fallen into the "lock case" situation too. Already been 9 days since I paid AOS and submitted the DS 261.

kamw - I also seem to have a locked case. NVC rep told me this evening that she would add a note to my file ot have it unlocked and that hopefully by Tuesday next week it should be unlocked. What happened in your case?

You must provide a police record for France and each country where you have resided for one year and more since age 16 (with the exception of the United States). Information on how to obtain your French police record (casier judiciaire) is available online at: https://www.cjn.justice.gouv.fr/cjn/b3/eje20. Does anyone know how recently the police certificate for the NVC needs to be? We requested one that is now 3 months old so will be 4 months old when we send it in. We already had that one translated so would like to know if we need it to be dated more recently for the NVC or just for the interview at the embassy.

looks like TSC is processing applications from March 2015 right now so that makes it a 5 month wait.

I find like all the centers are at a stand still! It has been 34 days since my NOA 1 and I am at CSC...there are people that have a NOA 1 after me and they are getting approved. I'm worried. I hope things get moving soon

I feel your pain. We are just past 7 weeks waiting at the CSC. However, looking at the trend of fellow CSC VJs, CSC is processing mostly mid to late June applications. I am hoping we have another day of lots of approvals like earlier this week. I am not sure why some people with late June or even July have been processed before us but I am hoping we will all pass through here quickly.

Keeping the hope alive that CSC has just slowed down a bit and we will be getting our NOA2 in the next week or two.

No - we were routed to CSC and I am living here in the US while my husband is still abroad.
