Have a question and by calling the USCIS is getting no where as I'm being transferred from person to person.
My husband arrived in US on Monday, April 21st. We are going to be sending in the I-485 and I-765 together. We are doing the K3.
For question, I 765 number 16 - what the correct answer A9 or C9?
I have seen it both ways. Then also to verify - we send both documents to the Chicago address?
Any help is appreciated.

He went to the travel agency today and did some comarison shopping, but what to get my views on the flights - he'll be booking them tomorrow - as of now he'll be leaving Cairo on April 20th. We are so excited. He was pricing luggage today and is making his "To Do List".
Bridgit - you can mark us as Visa Received on April 12, 2008.
-
The phone rang at 2:44 a.m. this morning and it was my husband saying that the DHL courrier just dropped off his passport and travel documents. OH MY GOD - it's been over two years since we started the visa process. I am shaking - I can't beleive it.
I asked him in details what happened with the courrier he said that the man called and said he had a letter for him from the embassy and he thought "Oh No - Rejection". The man said it would take him a while to get there (was thinking a couple of hours). Instead 15 minutes later he arrived at their home. My husband tore open the envelope and there it was - Passport with visa and the envelope to give to the airport personnel. From his excitement - I think he may have hugged the courrier person- hahahaha.
Our dreams are coming true.
Thanks everyone for all your support through all of this.
My mind is going a thousand miles a minute of things I need to do. He's out purchasing the ticket right now, but we are planning on a ticket for this week sometime.
I CAN'T BELEIVE THIS!!!!!!!

Hassan was told that he will need to go through Administrative Processing and given the 212 form.
-
I've contacted my senator three different times and the last response I received from him is basically not to contact them for at least three months. My husband received a 212 and we've been on Administrative Processing since November 2006. In that letter, I wrote our hardship and it did no good. Chin up - you may have to go there for a visit to make the waiting a bit easier.
-
This is NOT an easy thing, I'm sorry that you're going through it.
How far have you gone with Senator/Congressmen/attornies?
Has the State Dept. let you know what the checks are? It seems there are very few ways out of Administrative Processing other than just waiting. . . but after 15 months I know I would be trying to find any way possible to call attention to myself. . .I was going crazy at 7 months.
No attorneys. I've sent inquiries to my senator 3 times and heard back twice. The last response said to not contact them for another three months and then I can contact them again.

Been on AP for over 15 months now. I'm not sure what's next for us. I called the DOS today and they said our papers were sent to another dept now and not to expect any results for at least 4-6 months. We just keep waiting.
-
Well - I called the DOS again today. Our papers are no longer in Homeland Security (papers had been there since August). Representative from DOS said that our papers have been sent to another department and are in Washington, DC. She could give me nothing else. She did say to expect a 4-6 month wait for any results. Has anyone had this happend to them that their papers were sent to another dept after Homeland Security? We thought for sure we'd hear something on our papers soon.
We just had our 2nd wedding anniversary and still no results on the visa.
I email the emabassy weekly and am told the same answer - we are in Adminsitrative Processing and we will be notified once it's done.
I call the DOS weekly and am told the minimum that they can say.
I call the embassy and am told we are on AP.
I've written 3 letters to senator and the last response I received is we are on AP and don't contact them for 3 months, then I can contact them again to see if anythings changed.
Any words of wisdom that can be passed on to us? Any other ideas?

When I called the number that I was given for Homeland Security - the person could tell me all about the I-130 and I-129F dates, but not the CRO number.
I called the embassy this morning and they were all out for an outside meeting. I'll try again tomorrow and will ask if it was sent in a diplomatic pouch, etc.
So can you tell me more about your case? Was it denied or did you do things before it had gotten denied?
-
I got no where with the number. I called and received a new number to call. When I called that number - customer service could help me if I had the MSC or WAC number, but we're past that stage. I called the DOS again to obtain a phone number of where it's at and it's still at Homeland Security and there's no phone number that can be provided. Thanks anyways.

The last time we contacted the consulate was 2 weeks ago. Always told the same answer - in Administrative Processing. I've written my second letter to the senator, so we'll see what that does. I find it funny that with my first letter to the senator that they were told the same thing - AP. This is crazy.
-
Called the DOS again today – our file is at Homeland Security here in the USA. They can’t give me anything else on it. We did get a 221(g) on the day of my husbands interview that had checked on it Administrative Processing (nothing else marked on it). I’ve had contacted the consulate weekly for months and they always give me the same answer – we can do nothing but wait, we are in Administrative Processing.
-
My husbands still in Cairo - the embassy still has his passport since his interview in November 2006.
No - my husband's still in Egypt. His nephew is here - he arrived close to 2 1/2 years ago. Sorry for the confusion.
-
I asked the DOS and when I contacted the Senators office - they both said it should have nothing to do with it as Mohahmed has been in the states now over 2 1/2 years and he's applied for his green card and he's committed no crimes. So I don't think that's the problem.

It's been over one year now since my husband had his interview in Cairo. I've contacted the senator now a couple of times and they give me the same response that I've known for 1 year now (he's on Administrative Processing). I've written Condeleeza Rice a letter and all that did was prompt a call from the DOS.
I call the DOS weekly and our papers have been in Homeland Security since the beginning of August. You know - I really thought that my husband was going to be here for my sons 13 birthday (in August) and he didn't make that. Then I thought for Thanksgiving for sure and he didn't make that. Now it's Christmas coming and I've still not totally given up hope (but really close to it).
So now insomnia is setting in and the same thoughts keep running through my head. My thought are no longer what will the day be like as he gets off the elevator at the airport and there we are standing there waiting for him. My thoughts are now, what will we do when we get the official word that the visa is denied. I can't explain such a long delay except that's the answer that must be coming.
Can't help to feel jealous of the women that I've been in contact with who's husbands are now here and enjoying the USA. So did I go wrong in not getting an immigration attorney when we first started these papers? Maybe that would have made the difference.
So I've been told that there's no way to contact Homeland Security. Does anyone know if that's correct? Homeland Security's average timeframe is 6 - 12 months to do their stuff - just in case you didn't know that. You know - I really don't understand the delay. If he had committed a crime, I could understand the delay, but he or any of his families members have committed no crimes. Homeland Security is only checks on him. I thought that for sure the fingerprints would show them that he's done nothing in his life (no police records). But then I keep thinking - maybe the officer who took the fingerprints smudged one. Hahahahaha.
Does anyone know the longest wait on AP for Cairo on a K3 case? Our two year wedding anniversary will be coming up in Feb.
-
I've been calling the DOS weekly now for sometime. The answer that I always got was that we were still in Administrative Processing and we have to just wait. The man that called me from the DOS said our papers were at Homeland Security. He said this is not the DOS and I should just keep calling the DOS weekly.
-
It’s funny that this should come up now. On November 21st, it will be 1 year that we’ve been on Administrative Processing. I’ve written the senator, Condeleeza Rice, etc. hoping to get some sort of resolution and/or answers of why it’s taking so long. Throughout our process, I was told to contact the NVC a couple of weeks ago and found out our papers were sent there the end of June and they finished their work in the beginning of August. Through my letter contacting Ms. Rice, I received a phone call from a head person at the DOS. He told me that our papers are now in Homeland Security and have been there since July. He told me that there’s no one I can contact as to the length of time that it could take, but we just have to wait it out. I did find out that the checks that they are making are on my husbands end. So we have a little more information that I had last week. Does anyone know of a way to contact Homeland Security to see how long there stuff can take?
-
Well let's see. The last email my husband received from the Embassy was approximately 2 weeks ago and it's the same answer "Still in AP and he'll be contacted once it's done". The embassy doesn't respond to my emails any longer. Guess I made them mad some how. I wrote Oprah and received an email back from her folks indicating that they received thousands of emails a day and may not hear anything soon. Wrote the senator and they put an inquiry into the Embassy and they received the same information as we receive in our emails. Wrote Condeleeza Rice and haven't heard anything back from her.
So I've got a couple of questions that maybe someone will know the answers to. Since we originally filed our papers in April of 2006, isn't the medical, etc. only good for so long? I've heard that the I30 and I129F don't expire since they are "in the works". But the finger prints from the police station, medical, etc - are they the same and don't expire as long as they are in process?
It's coming up on ONE YEAR now that we've been on AP. I just don't get it. I thought for sure the embassy would have some kind of a heart and approve just prior to one year, but I guess I'm wrong. I've heard the longest from Egypt that's been on AP is 1 year and 3 months. Any bets that ours will go longer?
-
So I wrote the governor and asked if he could get any info on our case. Received the same thing as the last email from the Embassy - which was maybe over a month ago. Said you're still in Administrative Processing, no way to know how long it will take, blah, blah, blah. So we've really had enough of this and I'm thinking of going to Cairo for 2 weeks. I don't travel on planes well and was wondering if anyone would be traveling around the same time. I'm thinking of leaving the US about Novembe 2nd or 3rd and returning approximately November 16th or so. Please let me know if you'd be interested in going the same time.
I'm wondering the Cairo will let the Administrative Processing go for longer than one year? In the letter from the governor, they said that they don't know what's done in Administrative Processing - isn't that the buggest mystery ever.
-
I think Oprah's a great idea. Wonder if anyone's ever contacted her to see if she aired the length of time it takes and problems at the embassies. I'd be willing to be on the show.
-
Yeah - we've been waiting since 2006. We've been on Administrative Processing since November 21st - that's over 10 months of waiting. I finally got fed up and wrote the governor. Received a letter last week that they are checking on our case and will let us know. I'm crossingh my fingers - do we have to wait a full year to make a difference?????
-
Maybe we could start something where we could send the passports with the visa's and all the required paperwork to the correct people. Wouldn't that be fun. We could show the embassy how it should be done. The people might get them faster.
I'm looking for a Hassan, but he'd be from Cairo. Let me know if anyone receives this one accidentally.
-
And we've past our 10 month wait in Administrative Processing. Keep your chin up!!!
-
We've heard nothing as of yet neither. Our's in 10 months of AP. Contacting the governor/sendator so far has given us no help. How much longer do we wait????
