  1. We got noa2 on aug 28... After 3 wks, he called nvc and got our case number. We paid to already schedule the interview until he decided he will have to accept job overseas. I got packet 3 october 22. You dont have to wait dor packet 3 though to go on with your interview. Just a screen shot of the status being ready for interview.

  2. Ohh ok good to know that. I havent even opened the packet 3 yet. I just dont have the strength yet. So if i dont do anything with it and when applying for a J1 visa, ill just explain that it didnt work for us and bring copy of his emails stating he didnt want to continue with k1 anymore, do you think its just going to be ok? Once again, thank you.

  3. Your X should cancel the petition; but I know that contacting him about this will cause more heartaches. If you don't want to do it, just email US embassy Manila yourself.

Just be strong, I believe everything happens for a reason. Your petition now should not cause problems with any future Visa that you will apply, you didn't actually process the K1 Visa here in Manila . The petition was approved, but you didn't continue the process. Should it come up, you can easily explain it. Keep whatever you have about your case for future reference.

However, should your X fiance applied for another K1, he need to declare his previous K1 petition.

  4. Thank you very much christina16. I feel bad and sad but i guess there is nothing that i can do now. Its his decision and it sounds final. All i want is life to go on and the exchange program accepted my application again should there be an opportunity next time. I just want that this k1 visa processing not to hinder to my future opportunities. So maybe ill ask my ex fiance to write to the embassy. Thanks a lot.

  5. I am sorry to hear about what happened to you. You let a good opportunity passed because of love and this happened.

Well I really hope you get accepted on your exchange program.

Only your X -fiance can cancel the I-129F petition. If during the J1 process it will come up, you just have to explain truthfully what happened.

You may also write back to the US Embassy in Manila in response to Packet 3 you received, tell them what happened and inform them that you cannot continue to process the K1 visa.

    Better things will come.

  6. A past response: I just found and posting it:

Megan & Luke, UK POST IT- Thanks to them:

I'm sorry to hear that. As a beneficiary you can't officially cancel the process since the I-129F is handed by the petitioner.

The best you can do is not respond to any requests from USCIS or the embassy if it gets that far. You can respond to them if you'd like with a letter stating that you no longer have a relationship with your fiance and do not wish to continue with the K-1 process. If you do meet someone in the future and they need to file for you, they will have to disclose that another person petitioned for you in the past. Other than that there isn't much you can do. Eventually the application should run it's course and your ex will receive the denial notice.

Another person wrote: I believe the petitioner must be the one to contact USCIS and cancel it not you

    Thank you dilip.

  7. Hi everyone, recently our I129f petition was approved. Today i received a letter from manila embassy stating all details and procedures on how to do about with the application of visa as the case is already in the embassy. Unfortunately and sadly my fiance in america doesnt want to continue with the process anymore as his work will require him to travel overseas and he wont be able to do the reaponsibilities that is attached with the whole process. 4 mos ago before the K1 petition was approved, i was contacted by a teacher-exchange program i once applied to to join using a J1 visa but i needed to say no at that time in anticipation of the K1 process. Now that our relationship has ended, i once again signed up for the exchange program and will possibly apply for a J1 visa months from now. My question is, since an approved I 129f is pending in the embassy, will this affect my future application of J1 visa? What could be done so that the approved I129f petition could not hinder my future plans to go with a J1 visa? Thanks a lot for those who have time to read and respond to my inquiry.

  8. NVC will always tell you that it takes up to 35 days for them to recieve your case. Do not listen to that, it's BS.

From what I've noticed from other users on VJ, it usually takes about 2-5 weeks for NVC to get your petition after NOA2. If it's been over a month and a half, you should be concerned. If it's been under a month and a half, just hang tight, your petition will most likely get to NVC soon.

I recieved my NOA2 on August 20, I've been calling NVC almost every day with no luck. Maybe I'll get some good news soon.

I suggest your fiance starts gathering documents required for the interview (police records and things like that), there's a check list. And you should send your Affidavit of support (I 134) with supporting documents to your fiancé.

You don't have to worry about the adjustment of status just yet. You start filing for it when your fiancé comes to the U.S. and after you get married.

Thank you so much sumeja! :)

  9. I called NVC right at the 2 week mark after NOA2, took about 20 hang ups and call back to get through, then on hold for about 20 minutes, but I got my case number that day. I also know some people that didn't get it for over a month. I think early morning or late at night would be your best chance to get through. I never received anything in the mail, so you really do need to call.

Ok thank you very much! I will wait for 2nd week and have my fiance call nvc. :)

  10. The only thing I can add to this thread is when calling NVC,.,., be prepared for an all day event unless you get very lucky. I used two battery powered phones, and kept charging and re-charging

them, and spent hours, speed dialing until I got them, then I was on hold for almost 1 hour, then a nice lady came on the phone, and ""gave me all the information I asked for.""

How many days after noa2 did you wait to call nvc? Have you received ur hard copy that they said they will mail? If so, how many weeks after noa2 did it arrive? Thanks raven.

  11. Once your I-129f has been approved by USCIS they will send your petition to NVC. The time for it to reach NVC varies for each petition. Some petitions arrive after 10 day while others may take 35 days. My petition finally arrived at NVC on day 36. When you call NVC, they will always tell you to wait 35 days or more which s their standard answer. You can call every day if you want. You do NOT need to wait 35 days to call.

Thank you danlrob... Have u received a hard copy of your nvc case number?

  13. Hi everyone! My NOA2 was August 7. Then it was sent to the dept of state August 21st. I kept calling every day and finally got through on September 4th. They gave me my case number. Now I'm confused on the next process. I have no idea what to do. I have searched everywhere. I asked NVC what to do and they told me to go on the website and "look around". Are we supposed to get more information in the mail of what to do!?

  14. Our NOA2 was approved August 25 and on the approval notice it says there that "NVC processing should be complete within 2-4 weeks after receiving the petition form USCIS", and " you should allow a minimum of 30 days for Department of State processing before contacting NVC". Case to case basis pa rin ata, although marami nagsusugest to contact NVC earlier kasi usually hindi naman na raw inaabot ng 1month magrelease for case#. Up to you gurl, good luck!

Thank you bob&lucy! Have you gotten your MNL number na? Do you have any idea how long should we wait to receive the packet 3? Good luck in your journey too.

  15. It will take 7 - 10 days business for NVC to receive your file from USCIS after you receive the NOA2, then another 2 - 5 business days for NVC to get your file in there system and get the MNL # from USEM. Call 7:00am eastern time for shorter wait times K1's are not tracked through the AVR, ever. They are processed like an immigrant visa, but they are NOT immigrant visas, so they fall into a completely different class of their own. Therefore you need an operator. To get there:

1-603-334-0700 or 603-334-0888. Operator assistance is available Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM to 12:00 AM (Eastern Time)

Don't waste time, start getting your documents together by using the Embassy Letter as your guide for the documents that are needed.

If you have questions return here.

Ok thanks once again! Will check out the links you posted. :)

  16. Yes as soon as you have the case number you can go ahead and pay the visa fee, wait 12 hrs to let the payment process and then you can schedule your appt. Also the Manila US embassy website has the required documents that you need to bring for the interview, no need to wait for any packets. Though SLEC will release the medical results to you on the second day(if there are no problems on the results of the tests) you should still allow 7-10 days before your interview to avoid any unfortunate events. Good luck to the both of you.

Ok ill do that. Thanks so much! :) how long did the hard copy of noa2 arrive after the email confirmation that the petition was approved?

  17. If you call NVC they will always tell you it takes 35 working days before they get your file from USCIS. I would recommend to call every friday regardless of what they say, it's true that usually most timelines will show 10 days or more but I know there are some that took less than 10 days. It took me 15 working days to get my case number but I called every friday and also call at 7am eastern time so you will avoid long wait times. If you call in the middle of the day expect 1 to 2 hrs wait. Good luck on your journey!
