  1. We entered into the United States on August 21 & a few days later paid the green card fee for my husband. I tried before we left his country, but it would not do it & I figured it was because of some error where the visa was physically handed to him & not mailed to us & the system had not been updated. We still have not received his green card. How long should it take us to receive it? He received his social security card last week.

  2. the visa is attached to the envelope. But people need to heed warnings given by the embassy to never book travel arrangements until the visa is physically in your hands

We feel as if we did take the warnings & did not purchase tickets until after the interview (July 30). The lady who initially took our documents & the consulate confirmed we should receive it in 5-7 days & that the previous technical printing problems had been fixed. Our flight is for the 18th & on the 17th places are closed for a holiday. This means we are now down to 6 business days (if it arrived by mail tomorrow). We paid for fast overnight service & the company says no one would receive the package at the embassy. The only positive is my husband should have visa in hand tomorrow.

  3. The visa is attached to a page inside his passport. What they will give him in addition to his passport is the visa packet. It's an envelope containing all the documents that you submitted to USCIS, NVC and the US Embassy. He should NOT open/tamper that packet. It will be surrendered to the immigration officer at POE.

Thank you!! Hopefully, they will do this as stated & we will not have to wait hoping it arrives in time.

  4. Due to a technical error with the embassy in Buenos Aires, they cannot pull up my husband's electronic signature. Our visa should have arrived at our house today. They stated he can bring the DS-260 with signature tomorrow (since the technical issue will not show it) and they will try their best for the IV package to be given to him. Is this the visa? We may have to reschedule his flights because we basically have a week left and there is a Argentine holiday coming up soon, meaning no mail.

  5. My husband was approved for his immigration visa a week ago. Sorry, I have not updated yet. Things have been very busy. The visa should have arrived by today. We got an email on Tuesday that said we needed to come back because they were having a technical error and it was not showing my husband's electronic signature on the DS-260 or we could have a trusted person bring it or could send by mail. We sent it over night delivery on Tuesday and were told today that the embassy would not take the package. We are leaving the country very soon. I have sent three emails this morning to the embassy concerning this and the last response was yesterday and they said they would keep us updated. This was the Buenos Aires embassy. Anybody else having this problem?

  6. We went on Monday for our scheduled appointment, but were told come back due to the medical part being incomplete. Our case is on expedite & we tried to contact the embassy via phone, email, & FB about missing the medical. The lady finally looked & found my email since the FB had contacted me saying they were aware & waiting for my email. It changed our date to Thursday.

The lady then stated we needed some things that were not in our email that said what to bring. I had everything organized with dividers & sheet protectors, but lacked some things. My guess is that these items were stated in package 3?? We never got one.

Pray it goes smooth & we have no issues. We have had to stay two extra nights here, & tomorrow will be day 3.

  7. I'm not sure. With which doctor you made the appointment? I made the appointment with Laura Grillo and I had my results in the afternoon.. Keep us posted about how it goes!

We made the appointment with Kelly. When we got to the embassy on Monday morning they would not do anything since the medical was missing. Very upsetting &'we felt it was not our fault. The lady at the immigration booth implied that & since our case was expedited, we contacted the doctors as soon as possible & got the appointments set up, but did not realize the doctor needed several days. We had told the doctor when we had an appointment at embassy.

We go tomorrow morning for our appointment & are taking a few more documents the lady said we needed (that were not in our email since we never got a package 3 because of expedite). Praying all goes smooth & my husband gets his immigration visa!

  8. Soncrazed - thank you so much for sharing this with me! I looked at the info on your profile - so you are based in Argentina, yes? I wonder how long it usually takes the Embassy here in Sydney to send the e-mail.

Also, I'm curious - had you sent any documents to the NVC? For me, I hadn't even sent in our DS-260, Financial Documents or Supporting Evidence. We didn't even pay the AOS fees. Do you know if those need to be taken care of before the interview? (I'm not even sure if the AOS still applies).

Would you please be sure to come back to this forum thread and share how it goes on the 27th? I can't wait to hear how it goes for you and what happens next!

We had already sent in the financial documents. It made me feel like we had done all of the steps backwards. I would try to pay the fees if it will let you on the system. In between being approved for expedite & finally receiving our interview date, we were able to complete the DS-260. Our email from them stated we were missing documents & to bring them with us.

Our medical is not all complete (not our fault). We scheduled an appointment right after receiving the interview date, & the doctor has to do one more appointment. Praying they let us bring that part Tuesday morning.

I will let you know how it goes & please pray it goes well! Thank you!!

  9. Hi All,

Need help knowing what to expect next and what I need to do!!

So I was at the NVC stage in the Visa Process where - I submitted the DS-261, paid the $120 fee, and the next steps were to pay the AOS for those I'm sponsoring (wife and two step children), complete the DS-260, then submit all my documents to the NVC (the ones that I would also bring to the U.S. Embassy here in Australia)...

    But here's the thing...

I had asked the NVC if there was any way to expedite the process at this point, and they gave me an e-mail address to write to with a request. I just got a message back saying....

The U.S. Embassy/Consulate General has accepted this case for expedited processing. This file will be immediately forwarded to the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General. Any further questions concerning processing or the interview appointment date should be directed to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General.

Please note that the U.S. Embassy or Consulate General may still request additional forms or fees at the time of your interview. Please be prepared to submit any missing forms and pay any required fees at the time of your interview.

    My Questions now are:

    1. So what now?

    2. Do I just wait for a message from the U.S. Embassy?

    3. Do I still need to submit anything to the NVC?

    4. Do I still need to pay the AOS processing fees?

    5. Do I still need to prepare a DS-260 and submit it online?

    6. Do I still need to submit all our financial documents etc. through the online portal (which would have gone to the NVC anyway)?

    Thank you!

Congrats! Our case has also been approved for expedite. I will answer your questions based on our experience. June 23 we got the expedite approval email, July 14 was the email from the embassy, & July 27 is our interview date at embassy.

Just wait until they contact you. They will state what documents you are missing & to bring with you to the interview. Our DS-260 had not been prepared, but during the process of waiting from initial email, we were finally able to submit it. They will probably state you need to bring the financial documents with you. There was a form I had previously sent & they asked me to bring it to interview since it was "missing" before.

    Hope this helps!

  10. Go to the interview as scheduled; the visa (if approved) will not be issued until the Embassy receives the completed medical.

Thank you for responding!! Our prayer is they will let us bring the medical by on Tuesday.

as mentioned above , no big deal once other documents are OK , Officer will put a comments in your file stating that Medical Docs are still needed to get the visa

    good luck

Thanks!! Pray they let us bring the medical on Tuesday morning!!

  11. We got an email 9 days ago with our appointment date for July 27. We contacted the two doctors they listed for the medical & stated our interview date is the 27th. My husband had the first part done today & the follow up cannot be done until after the interview time. We explained it all & how we have driven 13 hours! Any suggestions? I have sent the embassy an email & they were already closed when I called. I am planning on us still going but this is a huge aggravation!

  12. Hi, we had our interview in BA and it took a week to get it back to our city (Mar del plata) I don't think you can have it the next day after the interview.

Regarding going with kids, they like to see the families not only the applicant. We went with our 3 yrs old. The interview was short but we have to wait a long time to be called, after we handle our documents. Many people go with their kids, don't worry about it, nobody is going to say anything.

where's the closest DHL in your area? Maybe you could send it there for pick up, better than traveling back to BA.

Thanks for the information! I remember when I was at the embassy in the past, lots of families were there. Our appointment is for 9:00 A.M. Thankfully, we are staying very close to the embassy. Our kids were playing with each other asking for their "passports". It was funny!

The closest pickup location is probably in Santa Fe (we are in Chaco). I went ahead and paid for it to be shipped from one of the BA locations. Hoping it comes in a week! It cost $22 US dollars to do that, but at least it should arrive at our doorstep.

  13. Why bring 3 children to something like this? Be sure to check if they will be admitted to the interview area (citizens or not).

Refer to this information from the embassy website >>> http://argentina.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visas/how-to-begin-an-immigrant-visa-process/step-5-the-visa-interview-and-adjudication.html

Showing up with kids in tow doesn't add proof to your relationship. It's just an inconvenience for everyone in what is often a crowded room.

Well we really do not have anyone we can leave our children with. My in-laws are the only family who live nearby & their health would not permit them to watch our little ones. To my understanding, it is a little window booth at the embassy. Someone please correct me if I am wrong. This will be our third time to the US Embassy in Buenos Aires. One time was with our infant son & he was fine. The other US Embassy I have been to was the exact same set up (little window booth) in Asuncion, Paraguay. Weird thing was when we went to pick up the new passport, they made my non-US husband stay outside. He even had his passport with him.

Our appointment is at 9 A.M. & what I have read is that the appointment is about 5 minutes more or less. In Argentina, it is completely normal for children to be with the parents & wait in long lines. You may wait 30 minutes in the express line at the grocery store for 10 items.

Hopefully, no issues with having kids with us because we have no other option & will be a 13 hour drive from our home( otherwise they could be with my in-laws for a couple of hours). Besides, our case was expedited because of our oldest son.

  14. Just choose any pick up location, hit continue and at the end of the process it will give you the option to have it mailed to your address. It should be 30 dollar per visa.

    I did it yesterday.

How did your interview go? This is off topic from my original question, but did they want to see tons of pictures? My husband & I will be married 7 years on July 26 & the interview is July 27. I spent 100 pesos printing pictures today. We have tons on the computer, but hardly ever print any. We are also going to the interview with our three small children. Hoping, no issue there, but they are all U.S. citizens.

  15. Hi! Our case has been expedited, & we have our interview on July 27th at the embassy in Buenos Aires!! :joy: My question, for those who have recently done this, can we pick the visa up the next day? The email said that we have to register on a website for a pick up location. None of the locations are in our province. It says you can also have it sent to you for an extra fee, but not giving us that option. Someone please help us. Thank you!!

  16. Hi! I am still learning my way around this site, but we filed in February. Our stuff was sent off on February 12, 2015 (February 17 it was delivered at USCIS). February 19 we received the email saying our case had been accepted. The case was approved on March 19, 2015. Our case has since been approved for expedite (as of June 23, 2015) and is at the embassy (according to NVC), but we still have not heard anything from the embassy.

  17. Hello.

After submitting the DS260 form online. The next step is submitting the I864 affidative of support.

My question is, do i wait for a letter from NVC or do just go ahead and dowanload and submit the I864 form.

You could always call NVC & ask but you may be on hold for forever before speaking to someone. I was finally able to do the DS-260 on Friday, July 10. We had paid our IV fee by mail & sent all of the AOS & I864 stuff in before being able to pay/do the DS-260. I feel like we have done everything backwards because of the technical error & not in the "steps" they give us for an immigration visa.

  18. I was finally able to complete the DS-260 today!! :dancing: I have been so happy for you all posting that it worked for you & would try everyday. It would still not work. Our agent called NVC today & they fixed something for us, because after they got off the phone it worked for me!! I am hoping we finally hear something from the embassy since our stuff has been there, because of our case being expedited.

  19. My husband is doing the spousal visa. I am actually overseas with him, but our sponsor contacted our congressman on Tuesday & they (someone who works for them), has been helpful so far. Our case was approved for expedite on June 23, but we still have heard nothing from the embassy. We know our case is there & I have emailed them & so has the congressman. Hoping things begin to speed up for us & so glad your congressman was able to help you!
