I was trying to use my Bill Pay through my Fidelity 'Cash Management' account and it didn't have enough room to put the full "US Department of Homeland Security' on the 'Pay To'.  So I just put USDHS and my bank is sending me the check.  Is that really going to cause problems?   If so, what if I write over the check and put the full name and just have the USDHS in parenthesis and then just initial that part I edited?  Would that be good enough or just leave check the way it is and hope they still cash it?  Please HELP!!!!

Just received my NOA/receipt for my ROC!

anyway- I read somewhere, that You cannot use abbreviations- must be complete- Payable to  US Department of Homeland Security!

(Oh well ( US) is abbreviated but it worked for my case!)

You can order checks online- just pay extra to expedite the shipment!

    hope it helps atleast

    🙂🙂

    ( USPS tracking) -

    -Delivered on April 3,2018

    - Check cashed - ( reflected on my bank account ). Dated april 12, 2018.

Does it mean, they accepted my petition?

So the waiting game again begins-

hopefully be getting the Receipt/NOA soon as well as the biometric appointment!

I believe I may be incorrect. I saw in someone else’s post you don’t have to wait for that time if your divorce is final. So you can ignore me and my big mouth. 😂

Haha, it’s okay.. yeah kind of confusing, but I’ve read alot about it as well

as the official uscis website. So I am confident I did the right thing!

Hoping for the best and all!

I will know sooner or later though 🤣🙂🙂

in most states (and you can ask life insurance agent in Hawaii) the wife is automarically the main beneficary unless she signs off to give to other

have your attorney bring this up in the divorce

your husband signed affidvit of support and seems unwilling to support you

sorry he did not include you in his life

i feel sometimes the foreigner thinks life here is so much better they don't question the man what will happen when financee arrives

    good luck

    Kris@me,

Yeah, he is not a bad person, but he was hard to deal with. I didn’t really care about financial stuff at first because I just waiting him to open up to me bout those but he never, he never trusted me any sort of thing. And I just knew that he put his ex wife ( mother of his son) as beneficiary of his accidental life insurance. But I don’t want him to think that just about insurance.. he would make it sound that I was just after money which is not.

now, that we are getting divorce, and need ROC alone, I’m so stressed out. Not so much evidence. But like what I’ve ve posted earlier I will give it a try to file with divorce waiver and submitt whatever I have.

Hard to be here, Have no family. I still don’t drive.

If ever I’ll be denied I won’t appeal. Too much for me to handle. But going back sure will devastate me.

If your ex is willing to help you that's going to be a big bonus, I think - I imagine that him writing an affidavit that backs up your statement that "it was a real marriage; it just didn't work out" would carry a lot of weight with USCIS (or at least be a pleasant surprise - they're probably used to seeing either no help at all from the ex-spouse or that the ex-spouse is actively trying to sabotage the ROC process... we certainly see a lot of that "marriage didn't work out and now I'm mad and want to send my ex home to wherever s/he came from" rhetoric here on VJ - I can only imagine how much they get at USCIS!)

Yes, he is willing to help me with the ROC. We are trying to remain civil and nice to each other as much as possible cause we used to love each other, just that we are not good as a couple.

I told him that I will give it a try to file with divorce waiver, and I’m going to hope for the best and prepare for the worst, gonna ready myself of the possibility to be denied and I will gladly go back to Philippines.

All you can send is what you have... you'll need a good cover letter that explains your situation and as much "secondary evidence" as you can gather. Secondary evidence can include:

    • Photos of the 2 of you (at family functions, on trips, etc)
    • Proof of any travelling you did together (plane tickets, hotel reservations etc)
    • Affidavits (letters from people who knew you as a couple) testifying to the fact that your marriage was real and not just a way for you to get to the US.)

Your written English is pretty good, but I might also suggest that you have someone whose native language is English write your cover letter for you (based on the information you give them) - you want the cover letter to be as clear and understandable as possible. That person does not have to be a lawyer; just a person who is a good writer and has a good command of writing business letters in English.

    Hello nightanglejules,

Thank you for your words, yes I can ask someone to help me atleast help me with the cover letter.

I think I can ask my future ex husband to do so. We are in good terms, do you think it helps my case if he gonna write an affidavit that our marriage was legit. We’ve been together for about a year only but we’ve known each other since 2011. But I know what matters now is from our marriage and so on.

and now I’m working- i still gonna put him as my ‘contact person’ in case of emergency ‘ and my beneficiary of my insurance ‘ hope that helps.

Hou didn't have joint car insurance, membership to anywhere, any joint bills or just bills in your name, any pension or anything like that where you were the beneficiary, can you get statements from anyone saying you in fact were are couple?

    Hello Georgia16,

no car insurance, no utility bills on my name, since everything is under his, i didn’t bother to ask bout these stuff, and the beneficiary of his life insurance,401k is his son.. is there a problem a huge problem with my case? I am really worried that my case is so weak and possibility to be denied. Yeah i got a friend and her husband who knows everything our relationship.

    Thank you

  12. Hello to fellow vj friends,

    I am currently on a depressed/ stressed situation 😔

I just need to hear from those who had the same situation as mine.

So I came over March 2016, via K1 visa, got married, file AOS, got my 2 year GC October last year.... first several months being married and living together we were fine, happy and had plans for the future and all...

Then things changed, we have some trust issues, my USC husband kind of manipulative- though he didn’t hurt me physically, but emotionally he drained me, but he make it all like it’s all my fault. So, lots of fight, silent-treatment,etc... To make it short, I moved out from the house last May.

So at this point- we are heading to divorce, actually did the paper works already and just need to be mailed in to the court..

My worries- since he has his house, cars, etc, he owns everything before we got married.

The only things we have together :

     1.) 2016 joint tax

2.) medical and dental insurance- that I am under his insurance.. several photos with family, we travel to Seattle last year.

No joint bank account, credit cards, nothing...

Soon as our divorce will be done- and got the divorce decree, as far as I’ve read- I can file for ROC right away by myself, but I worry that I cannot provide enough evidence about financial stuff together.

is there someone can shed some light on me?

i worry my case is not strong, but it was real, our relationship was real but things happen 😔.

thank you for reading this and for your advises! Greatly appreciated!

  13. Hello, don't worry,

sent my AOS package around July 12 this year, they received my application on July 18 (NOA1)

-Then on July 29,2016 - received my biometrics appointment .

    - it contains the place, date and time of my biometrics, which was on August 17. ASC - Honolulu.

September 7, 2016. (Notice date) - received notice for interview schedule.

Then, my AOS interview date was on October 11, 2016.

I received my 2year conditional green card on October 20, 2016.

I think not all cases are the same. But I hope I am able to help, a month of waiting think pretty normal.

I suggest that you take notes of the dates you submitted your stuff then dates when you get your NOA's so can keep track of the time frame. That's how I am doing. Just a suggestion. Also you can track your status on USCIS official website.

Thank you and God bless. ?????

  14. Hello everyone ??

So I am so happy that I already have my 2year green card. In fact really fast. Had my interview last October 11,2016

And then received the GC via mail on October 20. But no EAD yet.

    1. Anyone had the experience of how long til EAD will be received?

    2. Am I good to go and look for a job? Does my GC enough or do I need to wait for EAD before looking for a job.

3.P.S- Do I need to have SSN for job application too?

Went to SSA office here in Maui Hawaii, the guy whom taken care of my stuff, said I must wait for about 3-4 weeks, before I can have my SSN because they need to verify my documents I showed? He said, "weird" cause he can't find my record on their file. How come? I went to that office a day after I received my GC. Could have I waited a week or nothing wrong that I went there right after I got my GC?

Thank you for your time reading and for insights ??

  15. HI to you FloridaHenry,

My experience is USCIS honolulu. So I am not too sure if the processing is the same, but It wont be bad if I share mine yeah?

So, I think no problem with that I-693, as long as your medical exam is less than a year upon filling your AOs

And you dont have. Class A condition.

Take a look of your vaccination sheet, if Tdap, MMR, Varicella vaccine hAs check with dates, think you are just fine. That is how mine.

When I submitted my AOS package, I just included a copy of my vaccination worksheet.

My interview was on October 11,2016, was easy and fast. Interviewer let my husband do the answering basically about the relationship, the how where when meeting, family meeting, travels together, where and when, divorce if ever you or either your spouse divorced, remember the dates especially . My husband is very bad in remembering dates, so I asked the officer if I can help him to answer which was nice of her that she let me.

I am not sure how long it lasted, but I think was about 20 minutes. She just looked at my basic information based on my G-325 and those questions " answered with no" . Then let me sign and husband as the witness.

She said that we did a great job. And wish me luck.

Again, I don't know if all cases are the same. Think depends upon the officer and with papers and documents you submitted.

P.s. - she even said that my husband did a good job since he does all of our paper works, save money not hiring a lawyer ☺️☺️????☑️☑️☑️☑️

I hope am able to help you a bit. Salamat God bless , Lyn ???

  16. Hello ,

I'm really sorry to hear bout your situation.

But with regards to your question, please be honest about it when you go to your medical exam. The doctor will know. You don't want to be in trouble during this entire process.

    Most especially tell your fiancée.

Hope you'll be okay, please pray.

  17. I'm in very sensitive situation right now I hope you can give me good advice and don't judge me in this mess that that I'm facing right now. I'm due for medical test this month and my visa interview will be next month. I just found out las week that I'm pregnant and decided to take medicine to abort the pregnancy. My fiancé doesn't know that I am in this situation. He is not the father, I was forced/raped and got pregnant. It's been a week and I'm still bleeding, I can feel that the abortion was successful and I'm just waiting for my body to get back to normal. I don't know what to do and when to go for the medical test. The fiancé is so excited and bugging me to go for the medical and I just keep giving excuses that I have cough and other reasons to delay the medical test. In case I recover before the interview date, should I tell the doctor what I did and what I been through or should I just keep it? Can they tell if I had abortion? How will it affect my visa interview and approval. I'm emotionally drained now, I feel like giving up but, we have so many plans and I hope it won't be ruined because of what happened to me.

  18. Blessed day all,

So filed my AOS, done biometrics (Honolulu) , today received the appointment letter for my initial interview.

It states" bring the following items".............

    2. A completed medical examination (form I-693) and vaccination supplement in a sealed

    Evelope ( unless already submitted).

    That part confuses us.

So my question is, Do I need to see a surgeon for that? Or do I need to just bring my medical records from overseas and no problems during my interview?

I have all my medical records from Saint Luke's clinic. In fact

When we submitted the AOS package, we included a copy of DS-3025.It's less than a year since I had my medical exam at Saint Luke's clinic.

Please help if it's necessary to visit a surgeon or no. Thank you so much.

  19. Hi,

I'm sorry to hear that. I did same thing at Saint Luke's clinic too. Spot on my right lung, went sputum testing, all negative.

So now I'm here in Hawaii, all immigrants need to visit the public health department, so I did. Follow up check up for TB, undergo sputum testing again , after 17 days found out I'm TB positive. Immediately started medication for 6 months, be done by October.

Be thankful that it was detected and start your medication soon. Still alive, hope and pray for the best. God bless

  20. yep.. its positive.. devastating as it is im trying to look on the brighter side why i get this.. spare me the pity.. im fine.. lol or im not.. anyways.. i havent paid for my visa yet but my papers are ready.. can i schedule my interview 6mos from now? im starting my treatment tommorow.. til 6mos from now..

i will be having my sputum test tommorow to know if i have tuberculosis.. was expecting everything to go fine but now my world is crumbling down.. been taking antibiotics for 6 days now.. 4 more days but still my cough doesnt go away. worst case.. if its positive il have to start my medication here in my place.. but what should i do with my medical in SLEC? anyone here knows what i should do? please tell me
