  1. Well, your border crossing experiences might be million times better than me. But i have to explain every single bit of details about my intentions with the travel.

Its always better to have as many documents as possible rather than having none.

Oh that sucks! I have literally never had a problem at the border! At most they'll just ask me where I'm going. Sometimes they just say thank you and I'm through!

  2. I have seen some say yes, some say they don't bother..... I will be doing just that.... Interview is the 24th, and we leave for Pennsic (huge medieval camping event with the SCA) on the 31st and will be back the 8th.....

    **fingers crossed**

from what I can tell with the eligibility rules, we're still eligible to use Nexus.... just don't have our passports.... I plan to carry my file folder with all my documents anyways....

    Best wishes!

8 days here and so flipping excited :) :)

We will take the train from Windsor to Montreal on the 23rd, do the interview on the 24th, act like tourists for the weekend, then train home on the 27th :)

Thanks Christina! Can I just say you have been a huge help. That's the thing, I have always gone through the Nexus line and never been asked for my passport so what difference would it be after my interview? Unless the border agents have something in their computer systems updating them on me and telling them not to let me cross. But you are right, technically we are allowed to cross with just a Nexus, but they always say bottom line it's up to the officer's discretion. I will cross with all my documentation simply because I'm going straight from the airport to the US, and I am getting my employer to write a letter stating when I am expected to be back at work in Canada, and I won't have anything with me in my car except my overnight bag. I hope that does the trick. Missing my own wedding would be devastating otherwise...

PS we are staying at the Delta Montreal hotel. We got a good deal for it but the McGill residences were $240 cheaper for our stay...but they don't have a coffee maker...and reviews are mixed. Still, it would be great to save money.

  3. Well, I would never do that. Every time I used non-nexus lane to enter, they always asked me to provide more documentation.

Again you might not have that issue since you are white.

Yeah I have never had a problem crossing, a lot of times in the Nexus lane all they say to me is 'thank you' and I am allowed entry...

I'm freaked out because this is terrible timing, my interview in Mtl is July 22 and my vow renewal wedding is July 25 in Washington. If they deny my entry after my interview, I won't be able to attend my own wedding. Lovely.

  4. Just be on the safe side - and bring everything rather have everything in case they ask and you don't. So many different reviews that people were asked for different things

They didnt ask to see my AOS at all. They have a copy when we submitted it. some COs ask and some don't...I had his tax forms with me just in case. They didnt ask to see any proof of relationship or pictures for me but I had everything.

Can I ask what you brought for proof of relationship?

  5. Hi everyone, I believe in my P4 letter it said to bring the original AOS form...yet I mailed the original to the NVC. Should I print another one and have my sponsor sign it again? Should I bring his paystubs and tax forms and employment letter (financial evidence that I sent to the NVC) as well? Also, should I bring evidence of the validity of our relationship? Is it really questionable? I am in Canada and we live 30 mins away from each other, we are the same age and we own a house together in the US and we have been together for 2.5 years now. If so, should I bring photos or more than like emails and texts?

  6. For those in Canada wanting earlier appointments...I just called the US Consulate and they said the way it works for Montreal is you can cancel your appointment and then wait for the original appointment date to pass and then call the day after to reschedule something else. So that means there is zero option to get an earlier appointment! So I am just keeping mine as is!

  7. I have a question about the vaccinations. I was immunized for MMR last in 1987 (born in 1985) and have the record stating this. Do I need to get a blood test done to show that I still have immunity for MMR? Also, I had Tdap done in 1990 but have since only had Td boosters, my last one being in 2010. Do I need to get another Tdap booster? And do I need to get this done prior to my medical exam? Thanks everyone!

  8. hello everyone, what's the latest I can expect to be at the US Consulate in Montreal on my interview day? My interview is at 9:30am. Is it unreasonable (or just plain risky) to book a flight to return to Vancouver departing at 6:15pm that same day? I would probably have to be at the airport by 4:30pm and it takes some time to get from downtown Montreal to the airport I'm guessing.

  9. Hi i recently book the motel travel lodge its just a 8 minute walk to embassy. They have some nice hotels in downtown but travel lodge is cheapest but you can check out hotwire and get good deals.

That's where I was thinking of booking but the reviews online sound so mixed. Everyone says the rooms are small (how big do you need though?) and they are doing renovations so they were woken up to construction sounds at 6am. On the other hand other reviewers say it was perfectly fine.

  10. oh wow :)

I just got off the phone with Rose from NVC - who called me! I almost did not answer because the caller ID came up "unknown". But she wanted to confirm we would be attending the interview, that we need to book a medical, and we need to register for courier services. When I told her yes we're attending, the medical is booked already, and the registration completed, she laughed and said she wised more of her calls were that easy ~ lol ~

I asked her if she could see in our notes if the files had been shipped out yet. Not yet, but should be within the next couple days. She mentioned that getting rescheduled at Montreal is really difficult. I said no harm in asking though and she laughed.

She was really pleasant to speak with :) Hey NVC get more people like her please!! LOL

Rose emailed me this morning saying the exact same thing! I will have to email her back saying it's all been done :)

  11. hmmmm ..... could be..... I'll try emailing Mtl again tomorrow and see what happens.....

christina, i just registered my interview online and you can click on a button to reschedule the interview....have you tried this? are you brave enough to do it? what if it just cancels our interview and we can't actually get an earlier one? i was wanting an earlier interview but don't know how likely the possibility is. and i'm scared of pressing that button!

  12. No way of knowing your chances. You have to wait until your petition gets to the embassy than you can email them and ask.

I don;t have you on the spreadsheet and you don;t have a timeline what is your case complete dare please so I can add you. Congratulations.

does anyone know what the wait time is if you rebook for a later date? or should I just try to make this date work...

My CC date is May 15. Thank you!
