  1. Well I finally got a Manager to review my case last Friday and they closed our case on Monday, 8/17 yay!!!!! This is what they should have done 6 weeks ago. The NVC really needs to train their staff on handling I-601A waiver cases. It is very difficult to get police records from some countries when you are not there. Hopefully they will improve their process. For anyone in this situation, just write an explanation as to why you can't get the police record and send with your original documents. If you get a check list, request a supervisor review and just keep calling and if no review demand a manager. That is what I did. Thanks!

  2. Hi all, our case was closed as we are now waiting on our interview in Nicaragua. We have an approved I-601A wavier so my husband and I are in the US now and will be traveling to Nicaragua soon :))

My question is that we have to do a connecting flight, Nicaragua to Houston and Houston to Las Vegas. Houston will be the port of entry. I am trying to figure out how much time I need to allow to get through the port of entry to scheduled my flight back to Las Vegas??

Has anyone gone through the port of entry in Houston and can tell us about your experience?

    Thank you!

  3. Where is your husband orginal country?

I am thinking we might need to do a letter of power of attorney and have someone in the country to get that report.

My husband is from Nicaragua. He doesn't have anyone there to do that for us. But if you do, that could be an option.

  4. I am in the same situation. I wrote a letter to NVC explaining that my husband was here in the US and unable to appear in person to get the police record, but they still sent me a checklist. So now we don't know what to do. I have asked for a supervisor review but don't know what will happen.

  5. So I spoke to a rep at NVC today and she told me our packet is good except for not having a local background check from my husband's Country. I explained that we sent a statement with our packet advising that my husband is here in the United States and that he cannot get a police record from his Country since that can only be done in person. Well the rep said maybe they didn't notice the letter, but that we may get a check list for it and to call back and request a supervisor review.... ugghhhh. Why this uncessary delay? The supervisor has to approve it, otherwise why did we go through the I-601A waiver process and get approved only to be told sorry, we won't approved your Visa application since your husband is in the US and can't get his police recored. This whole time our attorney said that we would get the police record prior to the interview at the embassy when we go to his home country. Never did he say we needed it before hand, which is impossible unless my husband leaves which is the whole purpose of the waiver, him not having to leave!... anyone else in this situation or experience???

  6. We are in the same situation. My husband is here in the US and cannot get his background. We were told by our Attorney and have read other people's experience that we sent a statement with our packet saying we could not get the background until we go to his country for the interview and that we would provide it then. From my understanding this is acceptable but we are waiting on our review. Our packet was received by USCIS on 6/10/15. My husband received an approved I-601A Waiver.....

  7. Hi, my husband is from Nicaragua. I am a US Citizen. He has been in US illegally for 10 years, we have been married for 4 years. I-601A waiver was approved. Waiting on IR-1 Visa application approval and interview in Managua. We sent a statement to the Visa Center advising we cannot get my husbands background from Nicaragua until we go for the interview. We hope this won't prevent the application from being denied???? Has anyone had this issue? Also, we are tyring to find out if we need to bring local police records from the US to our interview in Managua.... since he has been out of his country for 10 years. Their website says yes, but not sure if that applies to us since he has been in the US and already had the biometrics/fingerprints/FBI background check??? He had the biometrics as part of his I-601a waiver application. It will be difficult for us to get his local record in California as he doesn't live there anymore and they will only issue in person. We currently live in Las Vegas, we can get that local record no problem.

Has anyone had an interview in Nicaragua? We are wondering if the interview will be different for us since my husband has been in the US for 10 years already?? I am so nervous to leave and go to Nicaragua and something happens at the interview and they deny us. My husband has no record/arrests or anything but am still scared. Any help or advise is appreciated.
