I got my RFE July 21st, and I sent the packet of evidence to Texas recently. I got an update saying that they had received the packet on August 27th and that they were working on my case again. It's only been a week for me, but I still check the status often!
Update for other April 2018 filers. My RFE (to Texas) was approved and updated to "New Card Is Being Produced". Overall from Texas receiving my RFE to taking action took 15 days.

Hi all,
I have a question regarding a request for evidence I received regarding my I-751.
Originally I included my 2017 tax return (jointly filed with my wife), and now I will include my 2018 tax return as additional evidence. Should I include our 2016 and 2017 (again) returns?
I have a similar question regarding bank statements. I'm including checking and saving account statements for the last 3 months. Should I go further back than that?
Many thanks!

@Wuozopo Great, thanks for the advice

Hi all,
After sending my I-751 packet off last week, I realised that I had put the date on the check in the incorrect format (I used the British date format instead of American). What can I expect to happen now? Will they send the whole packet back, or just the check? Should I send another packet off to get this solved quicker?
Many thanks,
Dale

Honestly, in Texas I did an uncontested divorce with my ex, had him sign a waiver of rights (to make it TRULY uncontested), and even without a lawyer it took 6 months. With a lawyer, it could have been 2-3 months.
Look up the divorce laws in your state.Thank you for the advice. I'll be sure to look up the laws.

I think it depends entirely on how complicated you decide to make the divorce for it timeline-wise (simple separation, or are you guys gonna get down and dirty with financials, property, etc.). Yes, the divorce proceedings can still continue while you're abroad, not sure if you'll need to make any trips back, however.
If you wish to move back to the U.K., totally understandable as to why, however just an FYI to let you know that if you wanted to and once you have your divorce decree (and haven't moved from the U.S.), you can actually file for ROC (Removal of Conditions) at any time before your green card expires, as you won't be restricted to filing 90 days prior — obviously don't do this if you ultimately wish to move back home.
That's great feedback, thanks very much.
We don't have any shared assets except a joint bank account that we'd split 50/50, so it should be pretty simple. And if we divorce I don't plan on filing for ROC, as ultimately I'd return back to the UK and stay there.

Hi all. So I moved to the US on a K-1 visa in November 2015, my wife and I were married in Jan 2016, and I got my AoS in July 2016. Recently, though, our marriage has been problematic and we're not getting on as well as I'd hoped.
My green card expires in July 2018, and my question is this:
If we were to file for an uncontested divorce, would that typically be resolved before my green card expiration in roughly 14 months time? If not, and I decided to move back to my home country (the UK) when the green card expired, how would the divorce process continue? Can it be completed while I'm back in my home country? Do I need to stay in the US for the entirety of the divorce process?
Many thanks.

Oh wow I was completely wrong then. I could have sworn I'd read many times they last only 3 months. Looks like 3 months is for K-1 applicants and not people applying for AoS... That's even better, then! Thanks

I got an email yesterday saying that my temporary employment authorisation has been approved and that my card/documents are being sent to me. Awesome news! I just have one question. The temporary authorisation lasts for three months, and I need to renew this until my green card is approved. How long does this renewal take? Does it take as long as the initial application?
-
Okay that sounds promising.
Does it matter if my case statuses haven't been updated since before my biometrics appointment? Last update on them all was in February and my biometrics was in March.
-
Hi all,
I sent off my AoS application with temporary work and travel authorisation, and I went in for my biometrics on March 15th. What can I expect next? Will I be receiving a letter with an interview appointment?
Many thanks!

Can I make one tiny comment on your well organized list?
You really don't do a "table of contents" as such with these submissions. A cover letter does nicely if you want to list what you have included in the envelope. So it would be more appropriate to use your list as the cover letter with this modification
Packet for Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjustment of Status includes:
1. Form I-485
2. Copy of passport
3. etc
4. etc
I would take "cover letter" out of the I-485 pack because a cover letter "covers" the entire contents of a mailed submission. By definition, it goes on top. Clip your check to it. It is redundant to make a table of contents to show you have a cover letter.
Great point, thanks very much!

Do I need to include my DS-3025?
-
Awesome, thanks so much everyone

Hi everyone,
I'm sure this forum sees a billion of these topics, but I just need the reassurance that my application is ready to go!
How does this table of contents look?

- Form I-485
- Copy of passport
- Copy of NOA2 "Approval" for I-129F
- Electronic I-94
- Copy of birth certificate
- Copy of marriage certificate
- G-325A with two passport-type photos
- Form I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status
- Form I-864, Affidavit of Support
- With proof of US citizenship
- Tax return for most recent tax year
- 3 recent pay stubs
Packet for Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization includes:- Form I-765
- Copy of passport
- Two passport-type photos
Packet for Form I-131, Application for Travel Document includes:- Form I-131
- Copy of passport
- Two passport-type photos
Thank you! -
Hi there,
I am in the process of getting my things together for my K1 AoS, and I just have a quick question regarding my Application for Travel Document.
Am I right in believing that I need to attach a letter explaining why I may need to visit the UK? I'd only be visiting for short trips and things like Christmas.
Many thanks!

They are separate applications that ride together in one envelope to the lockbox. I used big paperclips to keep each application with evidence separate from the next. Add on top of the pile of three... a check for $1070 made out to the US Department of Homeland Security paper-clipped to your cover page. Behind the cover page put a Form G-1145 if you want to be notified that they got your applications.
Great, thanks so much

I put my stuff in seperate folders, unsure if needed, more for organization. Not sure what 'packages' you're talking about but I just shipped them all together in one big priority mail shipping envelope.
Sure, one big package, but separate folders for the different applications?
Thanks for the reply!

Hi there,
I read somewhere recently that in my AoS packet, I should give the I-765 and I-131 their own packets inside the package I send off. Is that correct? I believe the reason is that they get sent off to different places.
Many thanks!

Maybe not exactly the same problem but similar when I went to apply for my SSN. I have two middle names and they all showed up as Given Names on both my passport and visa. When applying at the SS office I wrote my middle names as such and there occurred the issue, the gentlemen told me he would have to verify my name with the USCIS. I received a letter saying that it could take up to 4 weeks to verify. I tried contacting the deferred inspection office and basically they told me that they didn't see an issue with my name as it was correct in their eyes.
Anyway, 4 weeks passed and I received a letter saying the SS office had approved my application and I should have my card within 2 weeks and now I have it. I checked my own information in the SAVE database and learned that my case had been returned to the Maryland SS administration pretty quickly from USCIS's side and basically it just took somebody a longer time to process my SSN!
In the end it hasn't been that difficult waiting 5 weeks all together. No biggie.
Just my two cents. if it helps any.
Oh okay. How do I check my information in the SAVE database?

I think you're still within normal waiting times. Some peoples RFE's have taken up to two months to process.
