  1. So I have a dilemma.....we received the notice for my husband's biometrics appointment around Oct. 9th, scheduled for the 19th (today). We immediately sent a reschedule request since it would be near impossible to make it to this appointment with my husband's work schedule. We still have not received a rescheduled date, and I when I called to find out if it had been rescheduled or not, I was told that "there's no way to know" and not going to the original appointment date today is the risk we take with rescheduling <_< My question is, how bad would it be to miss the appointment today and wait for our supposed rescheduling?

  2. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but....my husband's green card never arrived, due to issues with our mailing address where mail was being returned to sender. I called the appropriate USCIS number to get the card resent, but the woman I spoke to said I need to have the immigrant fee receipt number before she can help me. I do not have it in any of my records, and I cannot access my information through the ELIS site anymore, it seems.

    What should I do?

  3. So, the only medical date available for us is three days before my husband's interview. Will this be a problem, so close to the interview?

Also, I'm wondering how important it is to "overprepare" and bring all documents to the interview, even ones the NVC are supposed to send with your file. It would be a pain to get my joint sponsor's I864 and tax info all over again, plus the only certified translation I had of my husband's birth certificate I sent to the NVC, etc.....

    better safe than sorry?

  4. Hello fellow Visa people,

So, we got a notice from USCIS that our I-130 is "in process", we got it by mail last week, but still no email notificaton.

It is apparently going through the California office and the time listed for their site is "5 months". Does this mean we (possibally) won't even get a NOA for up to 5 months?

:clock: I felt really depressed when I read that, and in turn so did my husband.

Words of encouragment or personal stories apperciated.

You got your NOA1 by mail last week? Don't worry too much about the email.

Are you living in Japan with your husband? If the petitioner is living overseas, your case has a good chance of being auto-expedited. That's what happened for me and my husband, we got our NOA2 in about a month. If your case is not expedited, the wait time unfortunately is 5 months.

  5. What documents is needed for the affidavit?

I got letter of employment, pay stubs, and tax returns. Would that be enough?

Look at the NVC process wiki here, it has the info you need www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/NVC_Process

In addition to what you have, you should provide proof of US domicile(if you're not living in the US). If you didn't order tax return transcripts from the IRS and are using your actual tax returns, you need to also include your W-2s, 1099s, etc.

  6. Hi there, I'm putting together my AOS package and I want to make sure a few things are correct.

    For my (petitioner) i-864

    - part 5, household size, because my husband is counted in number 1, I don't count him in number 3, right?

    - I did not file 2014 taxes because I'm living abroad and unemployed. I know I need to include a letter of explanation for that, but should I bother to include my 2013/2012 tax transcripts? I was just a college student waiting tables, my income wasn't much.

    For my joint sponser (stepdad)

My stepdad files jointly with my mom, but he says that she does not have income counted on their tax forms, so only his income makes up the total. If that's the case, then my stepdad doesn't need to include his W-2s/other proof that his income alone is enough? (because I heard that this might be a problem for couples who file jointly.)

    Thanks!
