How will you handle other stressful situations during the marriage? Sounds like you two need to create some open communication channels or else.

If she has brought everything she needs to live in the US for the next x amount of months it is going to take to AOS then yes. Unfortunately most visitors aren't able to just stay and leave jobs and committments at home.

Everyone goes through FBI. No one gets approved without that check.
True but that check is probably just entering details into a computer and getting back results, similar to the police clearance certificate. I doubt the people working on the petitions "investigate" everyone involved.

I was waiting for a k1 visa when the twin towers fell. All visas were put on hold for about a year. Immigration was moved into the shell of DHS. I was told at that time by various government representatives, that as far as immigration goes, DHS answers to no one. There are no checks and balances. They do whatever they deem appropriate, and for whatever reason they wish. When they finally did issue visas, there was such a backlog that they just issued thousands of them at the same time with what was apparently no proper security checks on the immigrants. If my government wants me to believe that they are acting in the peoples best interest, they will have to re-establish checks and balances for the citizens of this country.
I doubt there are many "checks and balances" done when some lucky people can be approved for a petition in a matter of days at the CSC. Those sorts of timelines show how little actual work goes into approving/not approving a petition.

LOL I was looking forward to getting a gun but now I see that in MA residents can only obtain a license with special permission. Guess we'll have to wait for 3 years

USCIS is a JOKE. We all paid the same fees but due to luck some people get approved in a matter of weeks VS a matter of months. I honestly don't think that they care about us. We are just numbers in the system and the govt employees don't really give a continental. It is what it is - a government deparment. The fact that everything is done in paperwork and not online tells you how flawed the system is. The fact that mail takes months to move from one department to another is another indication of how ridiculous the system is.
I doubt anything will change soon because the people who handle the petitions and paperwork know that they are basically "untouchable" and immigrants are afraid of rocking the boat.

In MA there is apparently no grace period at all. So while I could drive on my old license while visiting, I am now stuck in limbo until I get my MA licence. Yeah, it's great. After all the waiting and excitement to get here I am stuck waiting for a SSN to apply for a learner's permit and driver's test. The awesome part is that they want to see "proof of residence too" so I need to open a bank account as well and that also requires a SSN. There should really be some easier way for new immigrants to be able to drive once they arrive. Especially CR-1/IR-1 immigrants who are told they can work immediately... yeah right, I can't walk 20 miles to go to job interviews.

At some stage you will need originals or certified copies at the very least. I realize your husband doesn't want to send anything but he also needs to realize that you will never get there unless he sends these documents. I'm just being honest because you are looking for ways around the system and USCIS doesn't work that way.

wrong, an LPR can petition a spouse, it just takes longer, about 2 years.
LOL, my USC spouse petitioned me and it took around 16 months which is nearly 2 years. So not much difference. USCIS is a joke at the moment and not a funny one.
EDIT: I know 16 months is not 2 years but it has felt like it

No one can petition a gf/bf. Only fiance, spouse or family member.
I thought so too
So OP needs to get engaged or married before even thinking of petitions.
-
Wait a minute, can a USC petition a gf/bf? Not a fiance or spouse, just a gf/bf?

Have you adapted your Resume's to a US format? Are you applying through HR departments or going directly to Managers in the relevant companies? Are you only looking in one State/region? I'm not saying you haven't done these things, it could just be a case of bad luck. Remember you must tailor each application to each specific job, a cover letter is very essential as well as a Resume that pushes WHY you are going to add value to that company/position.
You could also be coming across as "over qualified". Remember you can leave out experience if you want to appear more "green". There's nothing wrong with that.
I am about to enter the US and I am having fears too about finding a job because I only have foreign experience. I wouldn't give up just yet because the next interview may land a job.

I think this site is an excellent resource, I have learnt alot here. That being said, any online community is going to attract some "fighting" amongst some members. I only formally joined recently but I was coming here now and again to look up topics. I do think that spending too much time here can drive one a little bit crazy, especially because everyone's case is different and people get upset when comparing timelines and so on.

Don't give up, you love them both. Please try and reach out to these organizations and tell them your story of love and the situation you find yourself in. You three want to be together but what is keeping you apart is some assistance, not love. I have a good feeling this will work out. All the best xx

Get engaged to her or get married to her and go the K-1 or CR-1 route. Once she becomes a USC she can petition her son for a family Visa. Work visas are hard to come by but I don't know your personal circumstances.

Oh my! Nightmare if the orginals gets lost!
The US Consulate in SA uses DHL from the States. The chances of them losing your documents are very slim. It won't be cheap but it's worth using DHL or Fedex and have them delivered to your home/office by a courier. Bypass the SA Postal system at all costs - if you use SA Postal services you will NEVER get your documents.
-
Let me clarify, it took TWO months from when the NVC case completed to the actual interview date. I can obviously only speak for my country.
-
Use DHL or Fedex, they take a few days to South Africa, I know from experience. DO NOT USE the SA Postal Service. And yes, get originals.
-
Mine took around 2 months. Don't schedule with a Dr because they will most likely require your interview letter to do your medical.

My view is that if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to hide. They were welcome to read all our online chats, the adult ones too. There's NO privacy in this process.

I took a gamble and bought my ticket a month before my interview but I made sure it had a free date change just in case. Tickets generally get the cheapest 6 to 4 weeks before flying and then right before the fly date you may be able to snag a last minute deal.

She wants to kill people? Hmmm, sounds like she needs some therapy or she is just a drama queen.
